hey guys it's riva and i am back with another plant video all right so it's been quite a while since i've been able to sit down and record a video i have been gone all summer i've been up in vermont in middlebury um attending the middlebury college language program so pretty much my job presented me with an opportunity to go up to vermont for eight weeks and study arabic and of course i jumped right on that um but obviously i had to leave behind all of my plants and i have over a hundred plants so my husband was ever so kind as to care for them for me and video chat me to show me how they were doing um but i just wanted to you know take you guys along with me since i haven't been able to record a video in a while um just take you guys along with me just to check out the plants now that i'm back home and see how they're doing and and how he was able to to prevent them from dying um so that's what we're doing today we're gonna go and we're gonna check out all of my plants and uh we're gonna just have a good time all right let's go okay so we'll start off in the sun room and i'm not going to go super in depth with all of the plants we're just going to do a general overview on how the plants are doing so here we have a lemon lime miranta he has even given us flowers right now he's doing really well we don't have him getting any extra humidity he's one of the only two prayer plants i have but he's been doing well over here let me back up a little so you can see this shelf so we have this little plant shelf in the corner and most of these plants have done really well over the past two months i don't see any crispy brown edges on any of them they all seem to have been watered really well here i have uh two uh riffle fora uh the cursivas let me bring it down for you yeah so this guy was a little dry when i came home um but i watered him and he picked right up they're gonna have to be repotted soon they're still in the original um potting mix that i got that they came with and it's not very hydrating or it doesn't retain water very well so they're constantly in need of being watered but other than that everything here on this shelf is doing really well this guy is new i got him just a couple of days ago um i won him from uh if you watch marianne on my wasteless life she did a giveaway for her birthday and he was one of the prizes pretty cool but yeah everything here everything here is doing well this guy i'm really happy that i kept him right before i left i was considering re-homing him it's starting to grow on me the color just like with the um with the neon pothos this color difference between the new and the old leaves i really love it and this guy also gets a little bit of a variegation like that i think it's so pretty let me show you the neon one of my neon potholes right here he has that same beautiful color difference between the new and the old leaves let me get a chair so i can get in a better position to show you okay right there if you look at that i love that i just think it's so such an interesting contrast and this guy is my um trebui moonlight he's just now finally starting to trail he wasn't doing that before i left so i'm really excited to see this and on the other side so most of these plants are doing really well um one big exception is this guy this is my husband's fiddly fig this is the only plant that he's picked out himself and the only one that we consider the only one that he considers to be his and as you can see it's not doing that well it's got some like if you look over here yeah he's looking a little rough he was never really the healthiest plant we've always had trouble with this guy but hopefully he pulls through right below that we have one of my burgundy ficuses he is still pushing out new growth looking really really good i'm glad to see it and that's one of the new leaves they come out a lot lighter and then they age into this beautiful dark color and all of these all of these are doing really well so far a lot of them are gonna have to be repotted um this for sure is gonna have to be repotted i just never i never changed him out of his original of how he originally came and for this as well my stanleyana these are very fast drying potting mixes so i find that i need to water them multiple times a week and here these guys are doing well my pepperoni obtusifolia flowered while i was gone and he's just now starting to lose his flowers but they came in over the two months when i was gone [Music] so i guess he's pretty happy this leaves need to be cleaned so i guess he's pretty happy in this spot uh from left to right i have my mike ins my sable blue and a monster peru and right above them you have my uh rafitifera hye or how however you pronounce it um but he crisped up pretty bad right there so that stem is gone we're gonna pull that one out and repot this whole thing probably put them up on a flat board here i have my other neon pothos is doing really really well it's giving me that beautiful color and i just keep him oh check out that variation right there so cute i keep him all the way up there he's by himself right now but he's not getting any direct light at all but he seems to really love his position so those are the plants on that side and let's move on over here so this is my favorite plant [Music] there this guy is my favorite plant of them all this is a skindapsis exotica and would you look at these loops it is absolutely gorgeous i'm going to try and insert a picture of what he looked like when i left and he's probably grown a minimum a minimum of two feet since i've been gone [Music] yeah he's so pretty and here so i just got this elbow this syngonium um i picked this up on my way back from new from i picked it up in new york but i picked it up on my way back from vermont and i just happened to be in a store the day after i won um the other one that you saw the day after i won that i saw this guy in a store and i just had to get him he was half off so i just i felt like it was a really great deal and i couldn't pass up on it [Music] and here on the floor because i am an irresponsible plant owner is my uh monstera panetta partita i'm not sure what to do with it i don't know where i want to put it i yeah he's got just a couple little holes in his leaves [Music] here too but other than that he's he's okay he's doing well i just don't know where i want to put him so until i figure that out i just have him on the ground because i'm irresponsible with my dog tail cactus so before i left i i was pretty adamant that i was gonna get rid of this guy and he has since put on probably probably a good six inches in the time i've been gone and he's just he's filling out so nicely he looks like a like a crazy bed head i really love this this whole mess that he has going on the messy look so i think i'm gonna keep them after all and over here i'm trying to get a good angle for you here i've got a few more plants on this shelf so most of these guys get indirect light in pretty bright indirect light throughout most of the day this over here is the south facing window and this is the west facing side so they get pretty good light they only get a little bit of direct light at the end of the day and if you can see that big magnolia there that filters a lot of the light so it's not it's not super harsh light they're getting this right here is one of my favorite plants ever and it's just a regular hartley philodendron but he started to trail a lot of my plants have started to started to trail since i've been gone and it was such a nice surprise to come home to so i bought this plant um i think it's an exotica but when i purchased it it was labeled a silver splash i just can't really tell the difference so if you know if you can tell by looking at it is this a silver splash or is it an exotica i'm not sure here we have my fry deck and this guy in the two months that i was gone he got spider mites three times three times in the two times in the two months that i've been gone but right now he's doing okay um yeah my husband didn't know what spider what spider mites looked like he didn't know what to look for so we were video chatting one day and he was just showing me my plans and i happened to notice um a bunch of webbing right there in the v and that v shape right there i noticed just thick webbing and i was like oh no yeah it was terrible but you know he took care of it he got it all figured out for us so that was that was really great so this is my fiddly fig and let me back up so you can see him a little better [Music] so when i first got this plant it was about a third of the size that it is right now and he has grown he used to sit on this table right here actually uh but he's grown so much in the time that we've had him while i've been gone his leaves have started to yellow a bit um and once in a video chat we noticed him leaning he was leaning over like this um and it was just a watering issue i had never experienced that before i hadn't experienced them leaning like that um but i googled you know possible possible issues and it was suggested that he's not getting enough water so my husband just suggested how he was watering him and i think he was only honestly i think he was only watering my plants every other week and then he realized that it wasn't working out so we adjusted that water schedule and got him back on track and now he's leaning significantly less oh i don't want to miss this guy so here is my imperial red allocation look at look at this color this is it's just such a beautiful deep pink yeah i love this plant and he's getting huge he's grown a lot and we have a taneki every one of these leaves looks like a painting it's like a watercolor painting it's one of my favorite plants he was actually on my 2021 plant wish list and i could not be happier to have him all right so over here we have my burgundy ficus this one so i got this guy for 30 and when i purchased him he had twice the amount i think there's only four i think this yeah there's four of them in there when i purchased him he had twice the amount of stocks in there and he was he was really really crammed pretty tight so i separated him out and i gave half of him to one of my friends and i kept the other half and he's doing really well he's doing well right here on this table i have little um silverian i'm forgetting the names it's been so long since i've had to since i've talked about plants that i'm starting to forget their names and it takes me a second to catch up but i'll get back i'll go back into it and here is my um monstera deliciosa i cannot wait i cannot wait until it starts getting mid rib fenestrations it's going to be a while it's going to be a while but i'm i'm really excited for when she starts pushing those out and the last plant in the sun room is this marble queen this is one of my favorite let me show you my favorite leaf this one look at that this plant is just absolutely gorgeous to me and look it's it's finally starting to trail yeah it was not doing that before i left okay and i just i was leaving the sunroom and i realized i forgot to talk about this one this is a brazil philodendron ignore that humming this is a brazil philodendron and she's also doing very well trailing her leaves are getting smaller um but that's you know to be expected when when you have a hanging basket as opposed to um putting it up on a trellis or a moss pole but she's doing really well all right let's go to the living room all right so here in a pretty dark corner we have one of my snake plants um i'm not sure what variety this one is um i think like begins with an l i just can never remember the name but it does pretty well [Music] and this right here that's new he wasn't doing that before so we're gonna have to figure out you know what's going on with him yeah just wanna make sure it's not an over watering issue so we'll be checking on him and trying to figure out what's going on all right on the other side of the living room it's really bright in this corner because we have a grow light but on the other side of the living room we've got a snake plant i think this is a starfish snake plant so this guy right here this syngonium look at that color before i left this was one of the plans i was thinking about rehoming and he's grown probably three-fold in the time that i've been gone and i'm just in love look at this color i'm absolutely keeping him now he's not going anywhere but i just i love the way he's filled out and i love this i love this minty winty green he's developed all right and here look at my golden pothos he's he's probably tripled in size since i bought him and this running arm so when i left this arm that's now running across the floor it was only see it was about it was about to like right here and since then it's grown like this oh my goodness yeah i'm this is this is one of my one of my favorites absolutely and then the rest of the gut oh wait so this rafitifora uh tetrasperma check him out we're gonna have to put him up on a trellis he is huge and most of most of this growth happened while i was gone [Music] and my manjula puffles finally starting to trail i thought that would never happen this is such a slow grower but he's looking so beautiful right now i love this color i love that color and he's looking great and who else is over here we've got a ficus elastica ruby you can see that pink that beautiful pink leaf down there more syndopsis [Music] other um we have pearls and jade and enjoy right here in this corner all right and that's it for the living room let's go on to the den all right so here's where it gets a little rough so this is my crispy adam and before we left before i left he did not look like this and most of the time that my husband was here caring for the plans he didn't look like this either we just recently moved him here and if you look up [Music] we have a new track light and [Music] unfortunately we set that light up just before my husband flew up to uh come drive back down with me so we did not realize that this was not oh look it just came right out um yeah i'm gonna attend to this today i plan on putting him up on these muscles right here but yeah he just was not getting enough water because he was in a much lower light area um it was so low that he started losing his fenestrations if you look look at the younger leaves he was starting to lose his fenestration um and he's getting it back now because he's getting brighter light but something that comes along with putting your plant in a brighter lit area you have to to make sure that they're also getting more water now that they you know now that they have more heat and more light they also need more water so yeah it's a lesson but we will we'll get them right also in the corner we have this uh ficus altissima gem and here so i bought this from rose with hose as a hawaiian pacos and i know a lot of people say that hawaiian and golden are the exact same thing i don't know i'm not a botanist but i purchased this as a hawaiian so we'll see um i've read that the hawaiian ends up with brighter variegate or brighter um that brighter color that yellow color and that the leaves are supposed to be bigger we'll see i don't know but we'll see all right in here we have one of my salta baconas and he is on a little moss bowl he's doing really well i'm glad to see that and then here when i purchased this it was labeled a silver splash um but i think it's an exotic i keep saying that i can't i can't differentiate between exotica and silver splash so to me this looks like an exotica i keep buying plants labeled silver splash because i you know i just can't tell the difference but i don't know so if you can tell if you know what this is let me know down below in the comments and here i have another heart leaf this one is climbing um i just wanted to see you know the difference in how they would grow like the leaves are still pretty big when you compare it to my um hanging basket [Music] and will thin and this is uh i guess audrey i have the mikans i think this is my third mikins sorry the floor creeks um and when my saber blues last but not least forgot what this is i think this is a problem oh wait [Music] [Music] oh wait no we got three more plants in here let's go over to the other side and here i have so this is a pretty basic plant um just a regular green zz but it is one of my all-time favorite house plants to have they just look so simple and neat but yeah he's doing pretty well still full you know pretty fulled out or filled out pulled out yeah looking great on the other side of this on the other side of the mantle i have um some type of snake plant i got this from kroger and it wasn't labeled so i'm not entirely sure what variety it is but if you look at all these little pups these were not there when i left all of these have grown in the two months that i've been gone and i think it's because this pot is really incredibly root bound and with snake plants once they start you know getting pretty tight in their pot that's when they just take off and that's what he's done he's taken off pretty well i'm not going to repot him probably until next year so we're going to see a lot a lot of new growth i'm really excited for it all right and i don't want to go outside [Music] um so forgive me but my tradiscantia zabrina um let me peek around the other window so my tradiscantius arena um it's looking super crispy right now uh i intend to cut this guy up and try and maybe trade some clippings for a nanook i really want one of those um but he's looking a little crispy right now and speaking of crispy my teddy bear plant look at this i can't believe this so he was also outside he was on the other side of that rail with the trascantia and he just i don't know he was doing so well all summer and i guess in the time that just in the past two weeks he just pooped out you know so what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna take this apart and try and uh look at these little leaves he's so fuzzy and cute so i'm gonna take this apart and uh put him in a smaller pot definitely cut out all of the uh the dead bits but hopefully he'll be okay yeah i've never i picked this up and i think a lows and it was the first time i had ever seen one and i have not seen one in a store since so i don't i definitely don't want to get rid of him i really i really love this plant it just needs a little care right now so the last plant in this room is a moonshine um snake plant and if you look it's kind of hard to see in this lighting but it's trying to focus i don't know it just has this beautiful um this beautiful minty green it almost looks like it's glowing this is one of my absolute favorite snake plants of all time all right now one more room actually i lied we have two more rooms one of them being the bathroom so here i have all these plants in quarantine these are my plants that decided to get spider mites while i was gone so i came home to spider my infestation on these guys so i have them here in the tub i'm probably gonna take them out today just check and make sure that they're all clear and another thing i've noticed is that they've gotten super leggy these are black velvet and they've gotten really really leggy in the time that i've been gone and so what i've heard is that i'm sorry so what i've heard is that if you if you give them top down light then they're much less likely to become leggy but if they're getting light from you know from a different angle then they're going to reach towards that light and i thought i had them in a pretty well lit area but obviously obviously they were reaching a little bit okay and i forgot to turn i'm about but in here um here's where so here's where i keep my my jewel allocation and i'm trying a new thing with top down lighting like i said to try and prevent this legginess that you see here with this with the silver dragon so we're trying to correct that um but yeah so i'm keeping look at the sleeve it's gorgeous that one's a melo so we're just gonna try and keep them all in this probably add a second light or second lamp and have one here and then have one here as well but for now i just keep it in the middle um but yeah i just wanted to try and control the their humidity level a little bit and also how they're getting light so hopefully this works this is the last little bit of plants the lighting's really harsh right there but there i've got my burrows tail so this this entire shelf is just unfinished i'm gonna try and set up you know better lighting um i just have not you know i haven't had the time to but for now we've got our barrel sale up here and then we have uh my pepperoni orba it's kind of like crap right now i'm gonna get that or re-home it oh yeah so here is my syndonium confetti look at that leaf so that's that's another one the plants that i won from my wasteless life from marianna or from marianne and it's doing really well and i think this one right here is a global green i got that in a trade [Music] and check this out look at i don't want to break it but yeah all of this trailing it was not drilling when i left so it's trailing with this arm and over here it's trailing and no this is a different one [Music] but yeah all of this trailing all of that it wasn't doing that when i left so i'm really really happy to see that and speaking of trailing okay look at this this is my other um [Music] um [Music] salta bakana he is just trailing like crazy i'm gonna chop and prop probably today or tomorrow i think i'm gonna make a video on it um but he yeah he's just going wild and it's just this one just this one right here the rest of them aren't doing it but that's okay i'm so excited to see that yeah i'm gonna chop and prop and try and fill this pot out because it's pretty sparse and down here he's starting to trail too just like the other um chevy white they weren't trailing when i left so i'm glad to see that and pepperomia my wind envy this looks horrible look at that i don't know why the new leaves are coming in like that they look crazy um hoya down here is a this was sold to me online as a snow queen but this this is pretty marbly for snow um so i'm just gonna go ahead and call this my second marble queen um and then the adam sonai and my rickrack and that is it those are all of my plants i think all right guys so those are my plants the good the bad and the ugly of it um you know you've seen everything and the condition that they're in obviously there are some that are going to need some attention um the ad and sonar in the living room are in the den and the all of the alocasia in the tub but um i mean all in all i'm just happy to be back with my plants i'm happy to be back home i'm happy to get back to my normal life and i'm excited to start making videos again i have a lot of ideas for you guys and i hope you stick around to see them um like i always say if you like this video go ahead and like the video down below it definitely does help um with my channel if you if you like my video interact i'm here for you um so you know meet me in the comment section we can have a conversation about plants and share the video if you enjoyed it um yeah that's it thank you for watching i hope you have a great day stay safe and i will see you in the next one bye
