it's about time well there is a little caveat to it how dare you you have stolen my dreams my childhood with your empty words however we are going back to porsche nottingham today to hand this electric porsche tai can back in uh in exchange for a petrol combustion engine porsche how dare you uh so it's it's kinda right the title is kinda right but we'll get into it in a little bit so ev friends let's go [Music] [Music] right my friends and ev clan so i'm heading back to porsche nottingham this morning i'm handing this uh porsche tycoon electric car ev uh back and they're gonna give me the keys to petrol one um a petrol mccann i'm told because this has got to go back in for a software update and online on all the forums this is a major update so everything on the control panels here and all the screens across here is going to totally change it's going to have totally new software on it i'm also going to get more range out of the car as well so when i get it back i should get um people are getting it varies actually 50 to 60 miles more of range and on the four-wheel drive version it cuts the two of the wheels off or something it does i'm not gonna go into all the technicalities of it but it gives you um a little bit more range to be fair but the whole system on it's changed everything literally uh the way the car works the way the car handles everything is totally totally different so i'm handing it back um and some of them have been well uh crashing uh so they've been having they've been installing the software it's not been installing right and it's been taking two to three days to actually do it i can hear all the tesla owners now going um hours does it over the air while we're asleep yes it does and no porsches doesn't [Laughter] it does minimal software updates over there but this is a major update um so win-win there for uh tesla owners however gonna hand it back and i've not driven i've had this nearly a year now believe it or not and i can hear all the people going why do you keep it why do you keep it i've always said i like the way the electric cars drive i like the instant torque on these cars what i don't like is the infrastructure um and that's why i keep banging on about it'll never work and it'll never catch on because unless you've got battery technology that is years in advance it won't work so um that's my personal opinion anyway i could be wrong um however it's nearly a year so i'm gonna hand this back i think i've got it for about three or four days this uh petrol car so i am dunking donuts open in there lots of dunkin donuts opening um i like a dunkin um so i haven't had a petrol car for a year so it's gonna be interesting i've not driven one for a year so i'm kind of apprehensive um what i won't what i won't what i will miss is that instant talk though so i'm gonna take you guys with me see what you think to the sound of it compared to this i mean this has got a sound on it i don't know if you can hear it there we go it's like it's like a spaceship um anyway this is a proper porsche that i'm getting so i'm gonna take you with me so come on onwards my friends [Music] oh right almost there i've got to tell you i'm not looking forward to this sounds really daft i'm not looking forward to filling up with petrol again pulling into a four core and i know you're gonna go oh it's all you've been moaning about i've been moaning about the infrastructure it it's just the infrastructure part of it but the actual filling up of it i haven't missed i mean come on admit it nobody likes filling up with petrol everybody leaves it till the last minute they think oh i can't be bothered i'll leave it you know at the end of the night sometimes you'll think i need to fill up now ready for work in the morning but then you think oh do you know what i'll just get up a little bit earlier in the morning and fill it up because you don't want to fill it up you keep putting it off um and with an electric car you just pull up at home um i'll let this person out it's reversing that drive come on um you just pull up home plug in job done and it is a lot more handy it's it's way more handy however it's just that when you're out and about uh if you're going on long journeys the infrastructure isn't there it's terrible but i won't uh that's i'll miss that but but i haven't missed actually filling up with petrol but uh i have missed the sound of an engine though that oh yeah you know that the noise and the soul and i've missed that because like i say on this i don't know whether you can hear it that's all you've got a whirring noise a bit like a silent washing machine anyway come on onwards [Music] [Music] you know what i'll tell you what else i haven't missed as well this is controversial road tax yeah i can hear you now i know it's like it's just a dangling of characters and it's a carrot on a stick oh no road tax for electric cars give it a few give it a couple of years till everybody else has got an electric car and then that's it road tax will come into force it's just a carrot on a stick and low emission zone charges as well because i can go into uncongestion charges because i can go into london in this car no congestion charge no low emission zone charges or ultra low emission zone charges no road tax um and i can charge it for free in certain places as well so uh you know it's that's been a bonus um whereas the petrol car and you've got your road tax i mean the road tax on the last petrol car that had the mccann was outrageous but uh anyway we digress i love having these little chats with you uh i tell you what though i was thinking while i'm driving along i'm thinking electric cars the future and you can hear the ev clan there it's the future it's the future there were there were electric cars years ago and also do you not think that surclive sinclair was ahead of his time with the sinclair c5 the sinclair c5 a whole new way to get about a traffic compatible mode of transport that will carry you up to 20 miles on one battery giving a thousand miles for the cost of a gallon of petrol it's like driving a grown-up sinclair c5 isn't probably three or four years away as well three or four years away they've been developing that for years you have an electric car don't you have a hybrid a hot or you've got hybrids oh you see yeah see a lot of my viewers have gone hybrid's the way to go it's good it works for me it works for me live close to the work so it just a little charge can you say or not do you think hybrid is the way to go or petrol or have you got to reserve judgement i think it's whatever suits you that's a good answer that isn't it anyway so take a look around while i have a chat and a coffee with this guy but off road i said it when i had one you just take this you take the kids to school in it you know then you get out of the car with your louis vuitton handbag over you you know over your arm in there louis vuitton handbag you know with a man bag or whatever you know it's that's the kind of car where you've got to have where they go look at me i've got a porsche i've got a porsche and then they go off for a latte a costa this is the kind of car this is this is what that kind of car is it's a chelsea tractor that's not let's not hype it up you know i'm not really impressed with it i have to say um and i do miss i've said it before you can see the ev clan now can't you see see he secretly likes his evs i've always been honest i like the way the uvs drive very quick very torquey a little bit like myself talky and uh you know i'm not really it's that's what i've done it's a bit of a let down to be honest um if you're gonna have a petrol car you really need something that's gonna go you know with a throaty i mean what is this it's there's no noise it's like it sounded sounds like mine there's some micro that i used to have and i love minnesota micro but you know blimey anyway there you go so i changed my car back for a petrol car but however i may say though i've got this and i could have my car back at the end of today and they said but you can keep it when i'm filming this it's a friday they said um you can keep it till tuesday if you want and i said uh well because i'm going away for the weekend i'm going into the lake district with the sir and the the children and i thought you know what i'll just keep this for the weekend it'll be all right it's got a full tank as well thanks porsche um there we go so yeah there we go i keep it for the weekend and uh happy days
