I took my ELECTRIC CAR for its first EVer SERVICE and was SHOCKED! Prepare yourself for this...

now they're my friends hello now uh some of you out there actually subscribe to this channel uh because of this uh electric car EV or uh milk float as I like to call it affectionately call it uh the Porsche taikan or as some people call it the Porsche tin can um I've not been an advocate for uh electric cars really the perfect advocate for electric cars because to be quite honest um well I think they're rubbish and they're not the future but we're not going down that route today because um I've done enough whinging about electric cars and saying how rubbish they are and they're not the future and which it turns out to be by the way um they they don't seem to be at the moment do they because of all the um issues that they've been having with them as you've seen over the Christmas period where there's been lots of Teslas lining up to um to get a charge basically for hours Island that the coffee shops did really well uh well this morning I'm taking this car uh the Porsche taikan electric car EV for its first ever service now you'd think that's going to be cheap wouldn't you because it's basically a it's basically a battery on Wheels isn't it and the battery is sealed we'll get around to that in a little bit so I'm off to Porsche Leeds today to take this Porsche taikan which is the 19849 miles it'll donate I've done a bit more a couple of Miles more when I get there for further Ado my friends let's go [Music] oh right so basically um I'm taking it into leads I didn't buy this car from Porsche leaves but I'm taking it into Leeds because that's where my family lives so I'm having its service there it's also being taken it in for a recall again because this car's been well basically it said sorry a bit dark there it's had more recalls keep them in the wrong lane here some more recalls than Arnold Schwarzenegger Total Recall forget about it don't worry as long as it's not the other one the remake of the title recall with Farrell Colin Farrell that was rubbish that's a different thing anyway it's going in for a recall for an aerial in the car some kind of aerial because that's not working properly um and it's also going in for two new tires because it each tires up because the car's heavier because of the battery so it ends up costing you more money for the tires and then I thought well having an electric car really is going to be cheap isn't it it's going to be a lot cheaper because your service is going to be cheaper because what is it a service um and also the electric it's turned out for me it it hasn't been that much cheaper it's been more expensive if you're charging up a public charging points especially now it's got It's astronomical it works out more than it does to own a petrol car and the initial outlay for these cars and more expensive as well anyway so I thought well the service will be cheaper won't it used to cost me about I think seven hundred pounds for a service on my Boxster which used to be oil change brake fluid and I mean I'm not a mechanic but you'll you get the idea all the different things um the brakes on this don't need changing for ages because it uses the motor in the car uh to slow the uh to slow you down a lot of the time regenerative regenerative braking put my teeth back in um so I'm figuring out oh well it'll be fairly cheap then won't it if um you know be fairly cheap if if it's an electric car I went into Nottingham um and I asked them and I said what is there involved in a service on an electric car and I have to be honest they couldn't really tell me they went well um we know we check things can I see about what do you check what is the to check and he said well we we give it diagnostic checks plug it into the computer I said yeah but what else I will check your brakes I said yeah but the brakes will be fine um and then I asked Leeds um and they didn't really I think it was head office actually that I asked and he said um and again they couldn't really tell me there's not a lot to service on these cars so I'm figuring well it'll be a lot cheaper then so we're we're gonna find out today basically how much it's gonna cost to service your electric car that you think is going to be fairly cheap really isn't it it's going to be cheap for an electric car well we'll find out because we're off into Porsche uh now this car by the way has been recalled for its computer uh software upgrade um where am I going there where's porch where is it where's Porsche and it's around there um it's a numerous recalls it's had numerous faults um with uh with it being an electric car there's been so many things go wrong with it it's unbelievable um and it's on lease but my lease doesn't include all the services all the tires um I guess you can pay that but I I don't so we're gonna find out now um I won't Park in the electric charging point because somebody might want to charge up in that um so we're going to find out how much it is and I'm going to try and get out of them what is involved um I'm not going to record them because I'll I'll record the voice if I can but I'm not going to record the faces because obviously they've not agreed to that um that's disabled um so we're going to find out and try and find out what is involved on the in the service of an electric car because surely there's nothing in it it's just batteries right let's park up foreign okay I'll tell you what is interesting um and I'll show you the latter um now it's not their responsibility here at Leeds let's turn that this milk flow off um it's not their responsibility here at Leeds but when I bought this car there was two things missing because of the semiconductor shortage because of the pandemic Etc there was the uh charger the wireless charger for the um for the phone in here which leads fit for me and also the electric steering column so when I get in the car the steering wheel goes up and down I got a lever instead and I got a letter from them which I'll show you in a minute I've shown you on a previous Vlog um that says they can't now fit that um electric steering column and because they they haven't got the parts anymore so they're going to give me a refund and I've got to get in touch with Porsche uh where I bought it from to give me the money back now that was Porsche Nottingham so Porsche Nottingham if you're listening again um I went in and they went oh you know that oh we have to go to head office and do this and do that and and it was an and I said right well can I get my money back because it's a substantial amount I'll show you in a minute uh and he went yeah well we can but then we'd have to we just need to contact head office and then if and then we'll get I'll come back to you three times I've asked for this uh refund now uh and I've still not got it uh so Porsche uh Porsche Nottingham can I have my money back because I did actually pay for that electric steering column and you've still not given it to me so come on I've been with you for years and I won't be buying you from you again unless I get a refund it's not on you've taken my money right let's get in there get this car serviced and find out what cost it is to service electric car and try and find out what what is involved in serving and servicing an electric car there isn't anything on it right let's get in there right um okay I've tried to find the ladder to For What Porsche actually owe me um I think it I can't explain the Boost as I was in the boot but anyway it's on a different Vlog it's about three or four hundred pounds the latter that has sent me to give me the refund because they can't fit the electric steering column now um I did ask Nottingham uh whether they could remove that off the price of a service and they went oh no not really because we need to get the check from head office so uh we'd have to uh you'd have to pay the service in full Etc um and then that's why I've come here otherwise I would have gone to Nottingham and got him to remove it from the service but apparently they can't do that because it's not as easy as that they have to go through different channels so you know I've kind of I've given up on that so no actually I'm not going to give up on it three do you know what I'm gonna tweet him I'm gonna tweet him this video give me my money back for my steering column anyway let's get into Porsche leads as I say it's nothing to do with porscheleys it's a separate um I think this is JCT 500 or something um and I'm rambling on but they also sent me I think things are getting very impersonal now um they've sent me a locker code for my keys to put my keys in so I don't have to deal with anybody there well I don't want to do that because I want to tell them not to wash the car because I they put stuff on it that I don't want to um very impersonal it's a little bit like supermarkets isn't it now where you go into a supermarket and there's you do it yourself self-checkout self check in here as well no I want to see somebody hand them the keys uh have a coffee um which should be included in the process price of the services ain't free I'm taking some biscuits um and uh I want to see somebody so we're going to get in there now and find out try and find out what is involved in servicing an electric car there's nothing on it let's get in there [Music] thank you [Music] right here not sure about the color on that like the estate costs like a wardrobe on Wheels isn't it [Music] so I've just spoken to the lady uh who's really nice lady actually I've spoken to her before and she's oh no no don't put your keys in the locker because there was a bit of a situation with it yesterday so she says don't do that which is good I don't want to put my keys in the locker I want to see somebody [Music] thank you [Music] now I'd love that a 911 nice silver but not with the red interior it's like going to be like sitting in somebody's mouth wouldn't it [Music] 900 pounds for suitcase paid 30 quid for mum from TK Maxx [Music] thank you oh no that's brilliant thank you for that all right yeah I'm gonna do the important thing now and have a coffee thanks very much thank you for that yeah oh no that's brilliant yeah that's that's brilliant because I the first person that's actually explained what what is actually involved with it because every Pro everybody I've spoken to spoke to Nottingham they was like well not really a lot involved in it but there is quite a few things in there so it's perfect foreign [Music] foreign [Music] so actually that was kind of interesting that it was the first it's the first time anyone's actually taking the time to explain what's involved uh with the service of an electric car because you think oh it's just batteries but there is quite a few lists of things to actually check on them so uh credit to uh Porsche leads there because and I spoke to that service guy before he's one of the top technicians for the Tycoon and um a spot on he knows what he's doing so we'll just wait for the bill now and the breakdown and the shock of what it's going to cost me but um electric cars I'm going to tell you they're not any cheaper in fact they're more expensive than a petrol or a diesel car because your initial outlay and also if you're driving around and you haven't got your own charging points at home it definitely uh costs you more on the road now than it just just to fill it with diesel or petrol uh so uh there we go right so um I shall see you guys in a bit uh when I return to pick up the car and we get the shock of how much it is and then we'll go through it but uh so uh a bit bit informative video this no eating fish and chips or full English breakfasts saying that I'm gonna go off and do a video now and I'll actually have a breakfast shots but not on this video I'll see you guys in a bit don't go anywhere right so it's now uh quarter to six uh in the evening and I've come to pick my car up um got the bill for it got the invoice for it I did have two new tires on as well which were like uh quite expensive I think the whole bill uh came to liming uh nearly 1500 pounds with the tires uh however that's not what the video is about it's about the service obviously you have to pay for tires um so here's a copy of the uh here's a copy of the health check report for the uh for the service for my EV electric car uh battery on Wheels uh so basically lists everything that's got to be uh checked on there um I think I think expensive I think pricey really for a I mean to be fair the engineer did um go through it with me and uh explain there is a little bit more than I actually thought there was and obviously you have to check underneath as well for any gouges where the battery is otherwise that could be very dangerous if the battery compartment's damaged um but 750 pounds uh for a service on the EV as well now it also had a recall on its aerial which I had to have fitted but they haven't done that because they haven't got the part for it so they said it's not a safety recall so I'm gonna have to come back and have that done uh so that I didn't get my aerial pudding or whatever it was but it's working but they just needed a recall but they haven't got the part so there you go so electric cars not exactly cheap to run in fact it's probably cheaper to get a petrol or a diesel nowadays if you look at the running costs of it I think if you're running an electric car or an EV and you're just running around town and you've got a little mini or whatever and you're not going you know very far in it then it probably might work out a lot cheaper for the time being if you're charging at home but on Long Journeys I stick by what I say EV is the future nah definitely not definitely not I think um there's got to be another answer to it maybe hybrids the 911 is going to be a hybrid and not an all-electric car so what does that tell you um and also I don't know whether there's any uh truth in this allegedly certain countries are actually uh Banning electric cars so I read somewhere but I I can't verify that information so you might be able to tell me in the comments section down below so uh yeah I'm 750 pound lighter for a service of a of a battery on Wheels basically and uh so there you go anyway uh just a little video for you just to show you the electric cars uh are not as cheap as you may think they are and I know it's a Porsche you're going to say well it's a Porsche but all the electric cars expensive to service um so there you go that's all from me today make sure you hit that subscribe
