thank you to iFixit for sponsoring this video I bought 44 broken handheld game consoles from eBay let's see what I got and see if I can fix them now I have opened this box up because I had to get out some PS Vita's that I used in my 9 broken PS Vita video if you haven't seen that video I'll put a link in the description so you can watch that but all the rest of these I haven't opened in fact I don't even remember what I got in here so this will be a surprise for me and for you for a guy like me this is just like Christmas morning let's see what we have in here well it's packed really nicely that's for sure wow look at all these there's some cool stuff in here I can tell you that right now these look like maybe the oldest and then we have some DS lights I haven't worked on these for years looks like maybe DSi so 3ds is there more 3d asses these ones RDS eyes - oh here we go we got a gameboy color in here and a gameboy advance so those are even older so 3ds so we've got some PS PS and then it looks like the rest of these are 3d asses and a 2d s oh these are all 2d S's okay so we got three DS and 2d asses this is super cool I hope you guys are as excited for this video as I am this is amazing so here we go how badly do you want to be me right now I'm gonna get these out of the packaging so we can look at them all and then we'll see what's wrong with them and get them fixed if you're trying to fix a game console an old handheld one or even the newer ones I fixed it has guys to fix basically any game console out there and I highly recommend them I'll also be using my eye fix at Pro tech tool kit for these repairs as well as my precision electric screwdriver and I'll have links to both of those down in the description below now I do have to mention this is gonna be at least a two-part video because this is just too many to fit all in one video I'll have a link the second video on the end card once you get there so you can just click on that to keep watching these repairs this is amazing I was hoping I was gonna get a gameboy or a gameboy color we're missing the back on this but other than that this actually looks like it's in great condition and then we also have a gameboy advanced you know like some bugs or dead bugs in the packaging hopefully none of these are infested with anything that would be disgusting we have some major battery corrosion here other than that though it looks pretty good also missing the back cover which is a bummer but it looks good other than that so hopefully that's the only problem with this one so we've got this advanced SP it's good this is an Ag s 0 0 1 this one even turns on you know these are not in great condition cosmetically at least a lot of them but this one turns on which is cool Wow this one turns on to its own apparently was used as a tester so hopefully this one's good who knows that's all the Game Boy Advance ESPYs let's move on to the Nintendo DS the crazy thing about these DS lights is when I first started doing game console repairs this is what I started with I would buy them on eBay or Craigslist or wherever I could get the best deal and I would buy them there and then repair them and then sell them on eBay I get a lot of questions about how I started my repair business when I was running it and this is how it started I just started buying and selling these and then I learned as I went and kept buying more expensive and more expensive game consoles until I got to the ps4 which is the newest one at the time and then I built a website offering ps4 repair services and the rest is history I just kept growing from there and I started in my garage and I just kept working my way up until I had a business that brought in a full time income that's all the DS Lites let's move on to the Nintendo DSi [Music] I'm so surprised about how many of these actually do power on [Music] now it's time for the PSP's I paid five hundred and sixty dollars for all of these broken game consoles that comes out to about twelve dollars each which means I could probably make money just by selling them off one by one even if they're broken since most of these are probably fixable I'm gonna fix as many as I can and then I'll sell the ones that are fixed is used and then I'll sell off the ones that are still broken as for parts with all that taken into consideration I think I can make a good chunk of profit from these and now we're gonna move to the Nintendo 2ds a--'s we got a blue light but no screen oh here we go wow this 2d s actually powers on that's good news and then we also have a red 2d s there's no power there oh and a surprise here we got a DSi XL these were very cool they'll be awesome if we could get this working no power looks like it's in not too bad of condition though and finally we have the new style 2d s that does power on and we can get a picture on the screen next we have the 3ds [Music] screens on this are in really good condition back when I was selling these on eBay the pink ones always went for more don't know why but they did so far I'm super encouraged because a lot of this stuff does at least power on so that's great news but once I get done with this I still have to figure out what exactly is wrong with all of them and why they were sold in a four parts listing and the final group of handhelds I'm looking at are the Nintendo 3ds XL z-- okay we even have a special edition that's cool doesn't power on wow that's amazing I really want to get this one going someone else has been into it though so that could be a problem but that would be super cool to get this one going [Music] now I have a massive pile of broken game consoles it's time to get started diagnosing them starting with the gameboy advance this one is pretty obvious what the main issue is is there's a lot of corrosion in the battery compartment so that's got to be fixed first and then once that's fixed then we can move on and see if there's any other problems after we get some batteries in the Game Boy Color let's see if the power is on yes it does the speaker's very quiet and we do need a battery cover so we'll need to replace that speaker get her a battery cover for it and then test the game slot next it's time to look at the Game Boy Advance ESPYs didn't get those ones diagnosed this one has a really scratch screen let's see if it turns on okay it does turn on let's try it with a game in it and see if it plays the game oh there we go now I'm going to look through and diagnose the rest of these Nintendo Game Boy Advance ESPYs and I'll let you know what I find at the end and then we'll move on to the next handhelds [Music] [Music] [Music] so I have all the initial diagnosis for the Game Boy Advance ESPYs we've got several in here that seem to work just fine which I love to see there's several that definitely have some sort of power issues most likely battery issues so we'll get those fixed once we get the rest of these diagnosed let's move on to the Nintendo DS lights once again for all these handhelds I'm just doing a basic diagnosis and testing the basic features I'll do all of the in-depth testing off-camera as that does take quite a bit of time so let's get started on the Nintendo DS lights and see if we can figure out what's wrong with all of them so this first DS Lite does not play DS Lite games and then it also does have the broken hinge I probably am not gonna be replacing any broken hinges but I might do another video where I do a restoration on one of these guys if you guys want to see one where I would probably just replace the entire shell if it needed a hinge repair let me know in the comment section if you want to see that and I'm gonna get on with the rest of the DS Lite diagnosis is [Music] [Music] [Music] these DS lights had various problems from cracked screens to game slots not working as well as things like cracked hinges so we've got lots of different problems on the DS lights let's see how the DSi is do so here is our first Nintendo DSi these are very similar to the DS Lite they just add quite a few features like Wi-Fi and cameras and they remove the feature of being able to play the Gameboy Advance games let's check out this first one and see if it turns on we do have power so that's good let's try the game slot that's good news and there we go okay great this one is ready to play a game so great news on this first DSi it looks like I don't see any problem so far I will do further testing off-camera but so far things are looking good let's hope we have this much luck with the rest of the DSi s so really not too bad with the Nintendo DSi s we got several that didn't seem to have any problems at all there were several with screen problems and then this DSi XL has a charge port problem I'm really excited to get this one working so we've got to get this charge port replaced and maybe the battery after that but then we can test this one these are super cool I've always loved these ones even though they're basically totally obsolete now they're still super fun and I'm looking forward to getting this one fixed and now it's time to look at the Sony PSPs I think Sony PSPs are actually really cool little handhelds I feel like they were probably quite a bit ahead of their time but for some reason they never really caught on and sales just weren't really ever that impressive especially compared to things like the 3ds but luckily we've got a few here in this lot so I can try and fix them on camera so first things first let's see if it plugs in in charge and then we'll test the other features [Music] so this PSP actually looks pretty good I put the UMD N to play it and it played just fine and I don't see any other problems I do have to test a couple other things like the memory slot but other than that other than some cosmetic issues this PSP actually looks really good I'm gonna get all the rest of the PSP's diagnosed and then we'll move on to the next set of handhelds so that's all for the PSP's this one has a faulty charge port there are several others that won't play games and then that first one looks like it's working perfectly fine now that we have the PSP's done let's move on to the Nintendo 2ds I've just got these two Nintendo 2ds who will check these and then we'll move on to the 2d s XL and then the 3ds is let's first of all see if it powers on and we got a blue light that's good news back lights on but oh there we go okay let's see if it plays a game it definitely does not play a game so this 2d s doesn't recognize any games so that seems to be the only problem with this one so far so I'm gonna set this one aside and take a look at the next one and this one is easy to diagnose the screen is just shattered on the top and bottom screen so this one definitely needs a new screen one of the cool things about these is this top and bottom screen are actually just one screen assembly so to replace them you just got to replace this whole assembly and here we have the Nintendo 2ds XL let's see what's wrong with this one you've got the blue light down here which is great news see if we get a display okay great okay it does recognize a game I did have to push this game in and out several times to get it to recognize it but now it does recognize it every time and I think that might be all that's wrong with this 2d SXL I'll test this one more off-camera before I sell it or give it away now it's time for the Nintendo 3ds and here we go let's just start with this black 3ds it looks like maybe some sort of liquid damage let's see if it turns on I've got a blue light that's good news okay does not notice the game oh there we go so the game came up for just a second and now it won't show it again so I think we probably just have some bad or dirty pins in the game slot other than that this one looks like that might be the only problem with it so this 3ds Pokemon 20th anniversary special edition is one of the ones I got in this lot I'm gonna be looking at this one last I'm gonna look at the three DS xl's first and then we'll get to this one first up we have a pink 3ds XL well let's see if we can figure out what's wrong with it and number 44 our last and final handheld game console let's see if we can figure out what's wrong with this one as I said earlier this is the pokemons 20th anniversary special edition it actually came with interchangeable plates so you could have the red plates or the blue plates this one just has the red plates and I can already tell someone's been into it here and this is not all the way attached so this should be an interesting one it actually does turn on which is kind of crazy Wow and it actually shows up on the screen and everything nothing works well this is actually great news because that means there may be more of a chance we can get this one working and I can see some big problems already this whole thing has been eaten out probably because they stripped a screw out and the only way to get it out was to break all the plastic apart that's a bummer because I don't want to replace this entire plastic piece because it's probably hard to find one that's even close to the same that being said I still will look because it would be nice if we could bring this back to original condition not enough taking a look at all of these 44 broken handhelds it's time to get to the repairs and I'm gonna start with the gameboy color we're on this the speaker is awfully quiet and we need a new battery covers unfortunately these battery covers are really hard to find that are in good factory condition that are made by Nintendo so I did have to buy an aftermarket one that's not going to match the green exactly but it'll be close and it'll make a look a lot better first things first though let's get this speaker replaced and then we'll move on to the battery cover [Music] the nice thing about these is the battery is pretty easy to replace overall I'm gonna loosen some of these screws so I can lift the motherboard just slightly enough to get this speaker out then we'll put the new speaker in connect all the solder connections and then put it back together [Music] so you can see the battery cover is a little bit different color than the green on the case of the gameboy color which is kind of a bummer but at the same time it looks better than not having one at all now it's time to test how well that speaker works and I'm gonna use everyone's favorite game Lucky Luke just kidding I only use this game of the tester I've never even seen it before before I got it for testing these games oh nice and loud so there's the lowest volume and there's a highest volume that's exactly what we're looking for this gameboy color is now in great working condition could use a tiny bit of cleaning but overall it's actually looking really good so this is the first fix out of our lot of 44 it turned out great now it's time to move on to our second fix the Game Boy Advance if you remember this one has a lot of battery corrosion in the battery compartment so we got to take this all the way apart so we can clean that all up and then we'll see if it works after that remember the good old days when everything was just held together with screws those are some good days now we've got all sorts of adhesive holding everything together and here we go we got some cleaning to do here definitely have a lot of cleaning to do here and then we got to clean up all of this right here on the motherboard hopefully this one will still work when we're done but after looking at everything I think this one might be completely fixable let's get it all cleaned up and see what it does and registering on [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] and this is the replacement battery cover for this Gameboy Advance it also doesn't match perfectly but it's a lot better than not having cover at all now we have this one all cleaned up and looking good let's see if it powers on and if it plays a game all right and there we go we have this Gameboy advanced working great so I've got number two I have 44 fixed I don't know about you but I'm having a blast with this so far let's move on to the Gameboy advanced espies out of the seven Gameboy Advance SP S four of them work fine and three of them need repairs this one has no power the orange light goes on and then right back off so automatically I'm suspecting the batteries so let's put a new one in and see if that'll fix it and we have a slightly pink sticker right here liquid damage indicator so there could have been some liquid in this I'm still gonna put a battery in it see if that will fix it and if not then we may have to take this bottom cover off and have a look at the motherboard and let's see what it does oh no power still okay so I'm gonna plug the charger in see if we get an orange light if we do that could just mean the battery that I bought is discharged let's try that first let's see what happens when we plug it in now and there we go we get a charging indicator so I'm gonna let this one charge while we try and fix the other two and then we'll try and turn it on once we're done number six also has no power and the orange light goes on and off and number eight has no power and no orange light at all this is a telltale sign of a faulty battery if you look at it you can see how bulged out it is that means that the battery is faulty and let's see what happens and there we go perfect so number six is all fixed and we can move on to number eight number eight is also working great now that we have a new battery in it I'm gonna take a look at number five and see if that one turns on now that it is charged still no power so I got to get the bottom cover off and see if we can figure out what's going on with the motherboard I'm guessing some liquid damage but let's find out those screws out well let's take a look and see what's going on oh yeah we got liquid damage there over there over there actually I think we have some insect well not damage but some insects that used to be in here it almost looks like cockroaches which is disgusting so I'm gonna get this motherboard the rest of the way out so we can inspect the rest and here is the motherboard I don't see too much obvious on this side but on this side definitely have some liquid down there and just from the looks of it I think this switch is just totally bad also by looking at it this switch that tells when the game is inserted also does not look good it feels fine when I press on it but judging by the look of this it does have some liquid damage the other problem with this that's absolutely disgusting is it did have some sort of baby roaches in it it looks like which is just disgusting so at this point I have to decide if this one is worth trying to salvage as there's also little old dead cockroach pieces in here - which is also disgusting I'll have to see if I can even find these two switches and then decide if it's worth it but for now I'm gonna call this one probably not gonna be something I want to fix just because of all of these issues like I said if I find these parts then I may go ahead and fix it later in the video but for now this one is gonna be not something I want to fix at this time part 2 of this video is on your screen now so click on that if you want to see that and come hang out with me over there and see how many of these other handheld consoles are fixable don't forget to check out I fix it for parts tools and guides to repair all of these consoles in the description below thank you so much for watching and I hope you have a good one
