Hydro-Gear Transaxle Oil Change Instructions

a hydro gear we take pride in our transaxles we also value our users and want to assist in the proper use and maintenance of our products in this video we're going to walk you through the transaxle oil service kit procedure we will demonstrate the oil change process for one of the two transaxles on your machine begin the process by parking the vehicle on a level surface you will need to place the direction control levers in the park brake neutral position disengage the deck clutch remove the ignition switch key then disconnect the negative battery cable loosen the expansion tank caps for both transaxles using either a lift or a jack and jack stands elevate the machine remove the filter guard screws and the filter guard make sure to clean any loose debris from around the filter next place an oil drain pan beneath the oil filter then remove the oil filter from the transaxle to drain the oil after the oil has been drained wiped the filter base surface off and apply a film of new oil to the gasket of the new replacement filter you will now install the new filter by hand after the filter gasket contacts the filter base surface fasten with 3/4 to one full turn now reinstall the filter guard with the filter guard screws torque each screw to 65 inch pounds next remove the top port plug install the oil service kit fitting into the top port now install the plastic extension tube into the plastic hand pump then insert the pump extension tube into a quart of hydro gear genuine transaxle oil and screw the pump onto the quart bottle next slide the pump hose onto the fitting installed in the top port you can now pump the oil into the transaxle when the first bottle is empty remove it from the pump and insert the pump extension tube into a second quart of hydro gear genuine transaxle oil and screw the hand pump on the quart bottle pump the second quart of oil into the transaxle when the bottle is empty remove the pump hose from the fitting now remove the oil service kit fitting from the top port and install the top port plug now torque the top port plug to 120 inch pounds you have now completed the oil change process for one of the transaxles repeat this process for the opposite side transaxle on your machine once the second bottle of hydro gear genuine transaxle oil has been added to the opposite side transaxle remove the oil service kit fitting from the top port and install the top port plug torque to 120 inch pounds now that the oil has been changed on both transaxles remove the expansion tank caps and pour hydro geared genuine transaxle oil into the expansion tanks until the oil reaches the full cold line on each expansion tank now reinstall the expansion tank caps by hand making sure to not over tighten reconnect the negative battery cable finally it's important to know that whenever a transaxle is open for servicing or if the oil is drained it's inevitable that some air will remain in the system after the oil has been refilled a process called purging removes this air before operating your machine please follow the steps in the hydro gear purge process video and for more information on hydro gear its line of products and service manuals please visit hydro gear comm [Music]
