Howa 1500 Hunting Rifle Build (Tips)

today we're going to put together a general purpose rifle using the hawa 1,500 barrel action carried by Brownells we're going to put it into a holdover molded stock and top it off with a Sig optic and an e GW scope mount so let's get started when working on a project like this I like to have the barreled action upside down in a vise so I know it's not going to go anywhere and gravity is going to help me with the assembly now I've got the barreled action with the with the trigger guard off so I'm going to lower the stock down on it nice and easy this by the way this Hogue stocks got a aluminum bedding block in it so bedding is not an issue this is going to be a rock-solid now I'm going to put the trigger guard in place and fasten it with the to action screws these are Torx screws which are super nice as far as reliability you don't have to worry about stripping them out no problems with slots now being this is a fully better to action with aluminum heading block I like to go to about 50 inch pounds on this the range is 45 to 65 fifties always been plenty for me so that's what this torque wrench is set up for so there it is on the front on the rear and we are set up with a rifle in the stock next step is to mount an optic on here and to get that started I'm going to use this Picatinny rail made by egw specifically for the hollow 1500 so put that in place and change out my torque bit and I'm just going to Snug these down to make sure they're all in place bottom down then I'm gonna go back to my torque wrench egw recommends 20 inch pounds on these screws so that's what we're going to do and I'm still at 50 so I need to back this ah there we are and starting from the front 1 2 3 & 4 our mounts in place needless to say I did degrease the holes beforehand with a pipe cleaner and some alcohol make sure you check that out on a new action next up I've got this Sig whiskey 2 to 10 power scope with loopholed rings on it it's a nice fit on this Picatinny rail just slips on nice and easy and again we want to tighten those up just gently and again these are fastening screws so the ones on the top are usually 15 to 18 pounds these I like to go put to 20 pounds they have a little more load on them so I'm gonna leave my wrench set up where it was and do these all at 20 inch pounds now we're gonna check to make sure we have proper eye relief and that is about right for me your mileage may vary the function test of the gun and everything seems to be in order so with the right components you can put together a fully functional rifle in about five minutes just like we did if you have any questions on how to do this give us call on the tech line we'll be glad to help you out remember all this stuff we sell is backed by our 100% unconditional forever satisfaction guarantee thanks for watching see you later you
