How to use Zapier with examples 2021

hi everyone this is andy with blogger.com and today we're going to use zapier to connect two apps together and create a workflow let's start for those who are new to zapier zapier is an application that allows you to connect different apps together and create workflows it supports over 2000 apps like gmail google drive slack box and others this is the basic functionality of a zap we have a trigger or an event that happens in an app and then we have an action or something that we want the app to do and in between we can have filters but this is optional you're going to understand a little bit more about this in the example i'm going to give you in a few minutes this is a more complicated zap that has one trigger but multiple actions those actions are based on the different filters that you can set up we will create a zap like this one in a different video let's create a zap together first let's review what we're going to do this is an example we have a form that when completed it places all the information in a google sheet spreadsheet that we already set up we would like to send that information via email to our sales rep only when the zip code is 1001. so what we are going to create is what we see here first when a new spreadsheet row is created that's going to be the trigger we're gonna filter it we're gonna make sure that we have the correct zip code and finally we're gonna send an email that's gonna be the action so let's move to my zapier dashboard and start with that let's click on the make a zap button and here we're going to select our trigger in this case it's going to be google sheets going to select an event in this case new spreadsheet row and we're going to pick an account you have to have your account connected if it is not here you can click here which says connect a new account and it's going to allow you to set up your connection now we have to select the spreadsheet that we want to use in this zap in this case my spreadsheet is this one contact form info and then we have to select the worksheet now click on continue and we're going to test the trigger as you can see it found a row that shows name last name email phone number and a zip code now it is asking to set up an action but first what we want to do is set up a filter so what we're going to do is click here where it says filter and now we're going to select the different options in this field so zip code exactly matches ten thousand and eleven click continue and now we have our filter and it says that this app would have continued because it read the spreadsheet and it detected that the zip code was 1011. now we're going to click on the plus button here and we're going to set up our action it would be send an email in this case with gmail so we can click here if your app doesn't show up here you can of course type for it for example um zoho crm and it's going to show up right there click on gmail and now we're going to go over the same process again we're going to choose an event in this case send an email and then we're going to select an account we're going to use my personal account click and continue and then two we're going to send these to sales you can type any email address that you want there and then from we're going to select myself in subject we're gonna call this one new lead and body type we're gonna keep it in plain for now on the body of the message we're gonna type name and last name and now we're gonna select one of the spreadsheet sales in this case name as you can see it's linked to the spreadsheet space last name then we're going to do email again we're going to click here which says email and finally we're going to type phone and we're going to select the phone number so what this part is doing is grabbing the information from the spreadsheet as you can see name last name email and phone those are the column headers and placing them in the body of the message so every time a new row is created then a new email is going to be generated and it's going to be sent to this person or in this case the sales department and is going to contain the new information of the row click on continue and finally we can test and continue or we can just skip the test in this case we're going to test and continue and now it says that an email was just sent to gmail alright now we have our sap ready so we're going to click on the button turn on zap and now this app is on if you want you can copy the link to share with your team members or you can just go back to your home screen in this case we didn't name this app yet so we're gonna click on it and change the name to new row new email and we can also edit it here so for example if we want to change the filter to a different zip code we can just click here and change it that way as you can see this app was just turned off but you can click here again and turn it on every time you edit a zap it's going to be turned off automatically and
