hi I'm Carol from patch quilt shop and I'd like to talk to you today about putting photos on to fabric there are several ways to do that there are products that are pretreated that you just run through your printer laser or inkjet needs to be determined you can also buy a product that you treat your own fabric and print your pictures or your others actually websites where you can upload your pictures they will print them onto fabric for you and then mail them back to you here at pop hatch we will actually print onto photo transfers for you I'd like to talk about product a minute the first thing we want to make sure is that the product that you're going to use is able to be washed that the fabric the picture doesn't go away when it's wet we also want to make sure it's a product that is very clean on the edges so it will go through your printer a very thin backing that will go through your printing printer and also a good quality fabric when you peel this off you want to make sure that it's not fraying and tear inch get a nice clean piece of fabric ready to do your photo transfer okay um you can have your pictures onto your on your computer you can edit those you can put frames on them crop them make them light on record daughter darker send them to your printer today for convenience I'm just going to take a photograph and I'm going to just print it on my printer I have a top-loading printer so I'm just going to lay that on you will want to make sure if you're arranging on your computer or arranging on your printer top that you allow half an inch between to allow for your quarter inch in your quilt so I'm just going to place mine in the center I know but that my my my printer the top left corner is my registration from my eight-and-a-half by 11 you can also get the sheets in the in half by 15 okay now to print to prepare your printer you're going to want to go into your printer and I will tell it what kind of fat paper I'm using I will tell it that I want to do automatic paper I'll tell it the size I do put my quality on best because I want to get a lot of ink onto the to the paper then I'm going to take my product and you're going to take all your extra paper out of your printer you're going to take your photo transfer sheet and I do clip the leading edges I trim those corners off you will need to know on your printer which side to print on with my HP my paper side is going to go down okay so I'm going to load this and I've taken all my extra papers that I do want to put only one two five oh two transfer sheet at a time because it will have problems picking up one sheet close that up go to my printer and I'm going to print so once you have your printer ready to go we're going to go ahead and just print the problem with the products that were uneven on the edge is that they would jam in the printer take a little while because it's doing best so it's going to be there's going to be ink on it the nice thing about the products there is an instruction sheet on how once you've printed how to take care of your fabric to prep it to go into a quilt you can rinse if you want or you can heat set the rinsing just gets any excess ink that hasn't set you are going to let this set though at least 10 or 15 minutes before you stack the product recommends this particular product which is electric quilt which is our preferred product suggest three to five days before you put it into a quilt and here comes our picture there we go so now we would let this dry three to five days it could be the back peeled off then it could be rinsed and then dried hang it up and dry don't put it in the dryer and then put it into your quilt if you have any questions call us at patch quilt shop or reach us on the Internet
