for latest updates in this video i will show you how to unlock scot user in oracle database 21c express edition software before forwarding there are some prerequisites the first thing your pc must have installed with the oracle database 21c express edition software and secondly make sure that you have downloaded oracle sql developer software which is a standalone software we are going to make use of this sql developer for unlocking score schema if you want to know how to do a complete setup of oracle database 21c express edition software on windows operating system i have prepared a video on this please have a look at it in the below description i have provided that link please watch that video for complete setup of oracle database 21cx space edition so let's get started on how to unlock scott schema in oracle database as i already said you should download sql developer i have downloaded my sql developer software double click on this here you can see sql developer icon application icon this is a standalone software we do not need to install this software to every time we need to open this application so open this application sql developer double click on this icon on the screen you can see oracle sql developer is loading this is the oracle sql developer welcome page before unlocking score schema we need to connect to the system admin for this we need to create a new connection we need to manually create connection in order to create a connection go here click on this new connection press icon on the screen you can see a pop-up window new select database connection first we need to configure system connection so we need to give the name as whatever the name you would like to give but i am giving system admin and username is system in small letters at the time of oracle database 21c express edition installation you might have specified the database password for system admin and pdb admin account whatever the password that you have entered over there you need to specify that password here i have specified my password at the time of installation as admin so i am giving as admin it's always better to save password coming to the connection details hostname is localhost port is 1521 but for the service name we need to give xcpdb1 at the last step of oracle database 21cx presentation installation you might have seen this last screen which has the connection information you can see this pluggable database localhost port number is 1521 and the service name is xcp db1 which we need to specify over here xepdb1 click on text connection here you can see the status as success click on connect on the screen you can see we have successfully connected to the system admin you can see a worksheet over here now let's unlock scott user for this we need to identify where the scot sql script is located i will show you the scott sql script location open this pc click on the c drive go to the apps folder click on this folder product folder 21c and dbhomexc folder scroll down to rdbms double click on the rdbms folder click on admin folder scroll down to scott here you can see scott on the screen you can see the scot sql script file so this is the location click on this location this is very very important please select the path right click copy and paste it in the sql developer make sure that you are in the system admin worksheet okay paste it and add backward extension scott dot sql so we are ready to unlock scott user by executing this sql script in order to execute the sql script we need to specify art and the starting of the line space followed by the path now let's execute this script click on this run script or from the keyboard you can press f5 i am clicking on this a pop-up window you can see choose an existing connection or create a new one system admin click on ok you can see the script output connection created by connect script so far we have successfully created connection for score by executing scott's sql script now we are going to unlock scot user by executing this sql statement alter user scott identified by tiger account unlock select this sql statement and click on this run statement on the screen you can see the script output users got altered so we have successfully unlocked the scot user now we are going to create a connection for scott user go to the connections click on this plus icon you can see a pop-up window specify the name for the connection i am giving a scored whatever the name that you would like to give you can provide and the username should be scott password should be tiger it's always better to say password and the connection type is let it be the default basic and the host name is localhost port is 1521 but the service name should be xcpdb1 which is a pluggable database now click on test connection you can see the status as success click on connect on the screen you can see scot worksheet you have successfully connected to the scott worksheet just query the database select start from tab execute this statement here you can see the emp table dept bonus salgrade now let's query emp table select star from emp run this sql statement on the screen you can see the query result this is all the data that is present in the emp table in this way we can unlock scot user in oracle database 21c express edition with the help of sql developer standalone
