hey what's up everyone welcome back to the youtube channel if you guys are new this channel is about barbarian i am a barber myself i've been barbering for about three years now i got my license about six months ago we do asmr videos barber tutorial videos you know beard grooming you know a whole bunch of great content so if you guys do like all that make sure to subscribe it really helps the channel grow as you guys can tell by the title and the thumbnail this video is going to be about how to take your big beard like this and pretty much get it to look like this so if that is something that you guys are interested stay tuned i'm mainly going to be showing you guys how to sculpt the big beard how to tighten it down because as you guys can tell it's getting kind of crazy it's getting big i'm starting to look fat i'm not looking good so i'm pretty much going to trim it down still keep a lot of length i like the chin area i like the chin to be a lot fuller and dense so i'm going to knock some of that down so it looks even but mainly we're going to be working on the outside trimming this length because it's getting really long from the sides as you can tell clean with the bottom the back and line up the top as well [Music] [Music] all right guys so i did just get out of the shower right now so that's why my beard's all strained out it's clean it's no knots nothing i've combed through it all so there's no knots or anything like that so it's all nice and detangled i'm gonna be using the straight razor i'm gonna give you guys some tips during this video but if you want a more in-depth video about how to use a straight razor go ahead and comment that down below as well so i could make a video for you guys all right after you guys got your beard all detangled and everything out we're gonna start beginning the beard trimming all right first step is get your clippers in my ergo clipper right here this is by gamma all the products i'll be using will be down below in the description i'll have all the links to them so if you guys do want to purchase your own they'll be down there for you guys right and usually i have some promo codes as well so you'll get a discount all right so now you got your clipper and to start off we're gonna be using a number four guard and we're gonna go ahead and throw that on and now first what we're gonna be doing is just taking some of the weight off from the sides so we're gonna turn the clip upside down and we're gonna be coming down like that on both sides not touching anything over here just on the outside and when you're doing this you want to go on the face and come straight down off the chin you don't want to dig in you're just coming straight off and removing some of that extra weight [Music] all right now go and flip it over with that same guard on there and we're going to go about below the earlobe about right here and straight up and just removing that [Music] length now we're going to grab our number three guard and do the same thing whatever you do to one side you do to the other side so you don't have to keep going back and forth between the guards and stuff like that [Music] bro can you can you stop looking at me so i could cut your hair now finally grab your two guard and do the same thing why we're doing this is we're just slowly tapering it down so that we don't get chunks or anything like that and just have a nice gradual fade into it as you can see my beard is looking a lot more square now but that's not the desired look i'm looking for i like the sides nice and tight and i like to come nice and round into here all right so that's going to be the finished look all right now you can see my face looks a lot skinnier from the side but now we got to work on this area start the doing the outline all right so we're going to line up outside of my the back of my neck back this side do the bottom we'll go ahead and clean up you know the mustache area and then the cheeks mustache i mainly i want to kind of keep it longer because the longer the hairs are the more thicker your mustache will look and i'm trying to go for more of a more i'm trying more and more i'm trying to go more for a thicker mustache so what i'm going to do is leave that and just clean up whatever hangs off also when your beard gets long like this you start to forget how your chin looks so look how small my chin is look at that how much of a difference that makes if you just all right so now grab your trimmer i'm using gamma's trimmer you can use any trimmer but this is what i'm using so pretty much for the bottom line you go ahead and grab where your adam's apple is and i'm going to do about two fingers above my adam's apple you did want to keep it longer i would probably just say do a finger butt above the adam's apple or if it was very long like this i would just clean up whatever if you're looking straight in the mirror whatever is hanging out just shave that and then you'll be good the two fingers is about right there and don't worry too much about this being perfect because there's still a lot of weight up here to get rid of so i'm just trying to get a reference point just so i can see where i'm going to be going all right there we go now we're gonna do the back side this part could get a little tricky so what i recommend is kind of follow the straight line so right here's where my beard starts i'm just gonna take it from right there and go straight down or if your bathroom has one of those mirrors that are attached to the wall those cabinets and you can pull out that's a good way to see the backside too or have another mirror i've been doing this for so long that i kind of got it down now a little tip if you guys are doing the back line you can't see it you get your phone and just take a picture of the side profile and you can see if it's straight or not so that's a good little tip now let's do the other side let's see i'm gonna go from the back of my sideburn right here and i'm gonna go straight back following that same line and you do want a good trimmer that does a pretty good you know takes a lot of good enough hair off each swipe because if your trimmer is not sharp enough or it's not you know a fresh plate or anything like that you could go over and push the line in or you won't get as sharp as the line just check both sides with my camera pretty good for right now now we're going to go ahead and line up the cheek area mustache and then go into sculpting so i'm going to be using my straight razor right here this is actually my personal jj bearded barber razor i am out of stock but i will be stocking these soon i typically do a dry shave if your skin is very sensitive go and throw some soap or some shave gel or anything on there so you can get a nice crispy line but i'm going to go ahead and do a dry shave you want to grab with your opposite hand pull the skin as tight as possible and pretty much what you're going to be doing is pulling and starting where it's the fullest so right here and you're going to create a straight line coming straight down to about right here all right so pull and just create that straight line and then let go look how the curve looks and then adjust from there and i'm only using the heel of the blade so i'm just using this bottom part i'm not using the full blade just the heel of the blade pulling nice and tight pointing straight down to that line as you get closer to this area it's good to blow air in your cheek so you can get a flatter surface and get more straight of a line now we're going to match this side to this side this side comes to about right here of my beard so i want to go ahead and match that same thing bring this side to about right there on this side i like to go from the bottom and back about good right there so you can check see if they look even and you can continue as you guys can see as i'm stretching it i'm just creating that straight line so when i let go i'm gonna have a perfect curve you see that so boom keep it straight let go curve then i always recommend after you create your first line go ahead and comb through everything and then realign it one more time do like a slight smile like that and just cut whatever hangs over [Music] now for the top of the mustache i don't like to do too much i'm pretty much gonna blow bubble like that and i'm gonna try connecting that line to the mustache your beard doesn't do that then you know just tuck your lip down and just make it depending if you want it around or squared or like more like a diagonal angle whatever you like or if you don't want to touch it don't touch it at all we gotta do is pretty much finish shaping this beard off and that's gonna be it and just comb through your beard one more time start with the middle okay so my guideline is only back here so i'm going to just take i'm not trying to take any length over here i just want to take this length right here two hands on the clippers so you don't jerk or drop it or anything like that go a little out of time because you can take off some more off your beard hang over so my neckline is all the way back here and this my hair hangs over so lines technically up here but i have this hangover so i'm just trying to get rid of that hangover so it'll be nice and full and tight see the difference now what you do to one side you do to the other side uh all i'm doing is resting the back of the clipper the blade right here just right on my beard so right where it touches and i'm just keeping it steady like that and tight on the beard coming out so imagine if there was a straight line coming from right here and coming out this way you know like kind of like that it's not coming directly into the beard [Laughter] as you can tell this side looks a lot more round this has more squared personally for me i like the round with the square shape so the bottom looks nice and sharp boom boom but the top is nice and round so i like that look if you liked it more square then you could have just stopped right here i prefer switching to your left hand it might be hard at first but whatever you feel comfortable with [Music] uh and so what i was doing back here is when you create that straight line back here it looks straight from here but at certain angles there's still hairs sticking up and over so you're just knocking off these back hairs right here so the line looks more sharp and also my beard is more curly i blow dried and had all strained out when i go and wash my beard later and let it kind of naturally dry up it's going to shrink a little bit because it's curly so be aware of that as well so if you have more of a curlier beard be aware that if you cut too short after you wash washing stuff it might even go even shorter all right guys so that's pretty much it with the beard now you got your beard all sculpted and nice take some like that on your thumbnail put that into your palm rub that in nice and dry or warm rub it until it gets heated up so it's nice and warm and then just apply into the beard put it into the mustache so you can push it to the side i'm pushing it this way so it forms the way i shape my beard and go and grab your wooden comb just make sure you distribute that product only through your beard i like to use a wooden comb because it doesn't create static and it doesn't pull out your beard as bad as like a plastic one hope you guys enjoyed that video hope you guys learned something new go ahead and make sure to comment down below subscribe like let me know what else kind of
