How to Tell if Your Outboard is Mounted Too Low

all right we're on a sea trial of uh hydro sport we've got a 175 out of england uh we didn't notice it until after the motor is too low uh we also noticed the customers installed trim tabs for his previous motor which ironically was the exact same motor just at the time on it he had a hydrocoil on it we put that back on he requested it and then unfortunately we noticed it after boy it looks like the motor is too low when the motor's too low the bottom of the boat is here and the bottom of the motor is here and what will happen is you'll have a via spray you're going to see it because we're going to open it up the boat and the motor need to be tied together because they need to act as one if the motor's too low would be the motor the water's got to hit go up it's got to get up on plane slower it's got to burn more gas it's got to lift the one side as well if we can go over here if we can show you these series of holes they're very easy to adjust the uh height of the motor let's see these holes so all we're gonna have to do is raise it to one of these bottom holes it's gonna be like adding 20 30 horsepower easily in a much better performance boat which the customer won't know you've ever had originally was installed correctly we're gonna make another video to go with this when we're on land out of the water but watch this thing get up on plane you're gonna see a via water like this if you have a boat and it's shooting a via water like that when it's on plane your motor is too low you're eating horsepower [Applause] [Applause] all right we've raised the motor see it was in this hole now it's in this hole nice part about this one is the bottom slotted so you just slide that up through the gap here raise it up two holes so we'll show you a video how much better this boat's gonna go okay raise the motor two holes boat gets up on plane better actually levels out better leaning which that will do or too low will do it still get a lot of spray because it has automatic trim gaps which honestly we don't like but we think it's a lot better hopefully the cup helped me a lot happier [Music] check it out you
