hello all of my elite creators and welcome to Ely prints and creations I am Shakya if this is your first time here I do hope that you enjoyed the contents of this video and will choose to hit the subscribe button as well as the notification bell so that you are notified whenever I release new content if you are a subscriber thank you both for support and welcome back in this video I'm gonna show you how to sublimate you just a regular piece of cardstock you can't actually sell mate to the cardstock itself you have to put a poly substrate on top or material on top in this case it's going to be laminate film it doesn't matter which brand or which kind that you use I got mine years ago I probably think two years ago that's me a really long time from office supply it's a really big role and I just use my husband's table saw and I cut it in half I do all have a link in the description box for a 13-inch limit that's available on Amazon if you already purchased some limit and you want to try this and let's say maybe you got the 5 mil it's fine you can use any length the thinner I'd say the thinner the better so anywhere from 1 to 3 I think is ideal for this type of application but you can use the 5 I don't know where my scissors are I'm just gonna go ahead and cutting that with that blade was just horrible alright we're gonna go ahead and cover up our paper this laminate is pretty much right cut right to 12 inches so I have to be very careful with where I put it at to make sure I'm covering up the entire page I like doing this way although the reason why I like doing it this way versus just printing it is with my printer which is the 7720 you have a quarter inch margin around the entire print and that means I wouldn't get a full 12 by 18 doing it this way by printing to 13 1913 by 19 inch salvation paper and having a little bleed I make sure that I cover the full 12 by 18 I'm gonna use just my shipping paper as just a cover shoot well this isn't smooth there is my parchment paper oh here it is it doesn't matter what type of barrier paper you use parchment paper another sheet of cardstock butcher paper craft paper the packing paper I was about to use it doesn't really matter what you do so I'm going to go ahead and close this down and just seal the laminate to the cardstock my heat press is set to 380 and for the first press we're going to let it go for maybe like 2025 seconds somewhere in there doesn't have to be long actually probably with that maybe like 15 seconds doesn't have to go long at all to get the laminate onto the cardstock see there we go nice and smooth alright I'm gonna lift this up while it's hot I should have had on my other heat glove because hand this is hot so be careful alrighty I'm going to go ahead and put my bear your cheap bag down I'm going to put my print down next and then I'm going to put my laminated cardstock on top of that and so I'm just going to position this trying to kind of get it even around all the sides that I know that I pretty much accounted for the bleed that was there which in my case I used a oops it's moving I use a quarter inch lead all the way around so we're all set there I'm going to tape this down that's another good thing about leaving the net laminate there I can tape I can tape it down and kind of keep it in place I'm just gonna use regular old masking tape this is like from the dollar tree so we're gonna use this and just tape this in place and I'm gonna tape on this side as well and then over there I can't really tape because there's really nothing I think I don't want it to be on the cardstock because I don't want it to potentially affect when it's elevates and you kind of see that line of demarcation so I don't want to do that all right I'm gonna put my hand underneath it holds it in place and flipping putting it down very carefully hopefully that you know hoping that it did not move I'm just gonna check it to be on the safe side and we're good making sure that it's all the way on my platen and we're good there we're good everything is on the heat press we're going to go ahead and push that in there and close it down for the full 60 seconds and what's going to posit but I guess I will just go ahead and talk to you guys just about this process versus just pausing it and then coming back when it's done I use an Epson 7720 I use cosmos ink in that printer although any simulation ink will work for this method so it doesn't have to be cosmos again I use craft investees paper for this one but any sublimation paper will work and like I said it doesn't matter what type of cardstock you use even if you're doing this like eight-and-a-half by eleven any cardstock the white base is there just so that you know you have that white base and you get your true colors and it pops that I said it was designed in silhouette studio and yeah I just I just like this method better this one right here I'm going to put vinyl on the back because I'm gonna put it on my car for a graduation drive-by and then I have another that I'm gonna do my sign from the person I tried a new person with my yard signs this time and it's not ready but I want them you know I they purchase the guard time so I'm gonna make this one and then once the other ones rate I'm gonna bring that one back over as well but I'm gonna make a yard sign from the other one just so I can give to her my press is an auto press I don't want it to pop up to where it could make the print shift so I'm just gonna collide it up alright so we're gonna take off there your sheet and let's review this baby and that's is so gorgeous all right and then I'm going to trim it away so we're gonna go ahead and just lift this I'm gonna put my other heat glove on because this sucker is hot this is my grill master on this is the big boy look that snake is gonna tear up the paper on the bottom but that's fine the print itself won't be affected and then I'm going to oh please tell me that this wasn't on here when it sublimate it and that just happened okay yeah it was I got kind of scared for a second there and then I'm just gonna trim it away so the color on that is just gorgeous I just really like the sheen on it and I really like this process and again we're getting a full bleed so I have a full 12 by 18 versus just having what would be like 11 no it'll be yeah 11 and a half by 17 and a half because you have a quarter inch bleed all the way around so that's I mean you have 1.125 around so it's like a quarter inch so half and half besides and the back I mean the top and bottom but yeah that's that all right you're gonna see me do this one more time because like I said I have to do the next one I'm gonna take my big glove off because it's a little bit hard to work with that I'm gonna take this I'm just gonna use one of my tacking sheets to cover my platen this all right we're going to take our hearts and our cardstock my scissors in that blade isn't sharp don't see my scissors oh there's some right there all right I'm gonna slide mine out I don't like working directly under that hot platen grab my scissors here right go ahead and just position this to make sure that it goes over the edge of VIX and I'm gonna put my glove on I had another little glove like this and that I could use but my two-year-old had it on his foot so I had to go and wash that one it's just walking all on the dirty floor he thought it was a sock all right just gonna pull this and make sure it's to the edge on this side all right we should be good just kind of smooth that out some close it up well push you back in and I'm going to use just the same barrier team just to protect it while I press it again about 15 seconds or so right and now we're going to put our next price [Applause] ideally you do want to throw these away I'm not really worried about I don't really see anything on there sometimes it can be a little bit of ink ideally you want to start with if I'm gonna teach you I'm not going to show you guys the wrong way I'm not gonna keep using this license I'm just gonna use another piece of packing paper so I'll have to put off I just cut off the parchment and I'm gonna use that as my barrier sheet all right we're going to put down our print and then put down our lemony the cardstock again this one also has a bleed so kind of gives me an idea of where I should be placing this as long as I see kind of an even spacing all the way around I know I'm pretty centered and my design is strategically made to where if I'm off a little bit everything is in the center I just want to make sure that you know I have a straight line so that when it is on there my lines aren't crooked and then we're gonna grab our tape here and just tape it down taping this down because I'm not removing the laminate also kind of helps stain that laminate and keeps it laid down to where it's not folding onto the back of the card stock all right this is hot so I'm gonna use my heat glove to help me flip this alright you're just gonna get underneath it put my hand on top and ever so carefully flip it and drop it down all right then I'm trying not to move the actual print and that's what having the paper on the bottom is also good for because I can move that whole thing and my paper kind of stays in place I just need to make sure that it's actually fully on my platen yes it is we're gonna go ahead and close that and close it down for 60 seconds this time I am gonna just go ahead and pause it and I'll come back once we have reached 10 seconds all right we're about to approach 10 seconds I do have an auto press like I said before so I want to hold it I don't like for it to pop up because it can just kind of move and sometimes that little bit of pop can't cause some ghosting at the very end because it's still very hot so I'm gonna guide it up once it reduces the magnet release is just gonna guide it up move my barrier sheet even with this glove on that was hot cuz this way isn't really for that high heat that's what this one is for and with paper because you're putting paper it really really gets hot I'm just gonna hold this here and get ready for the reveal beautiful so there's that one I just really love the way that these come out when you sublimate them and then I'm going to trim it away but here is this one alright y'all so hopefully you guys learned something from this and you will try it if you do go ahead and try this method I do have a Facebook group on you know I have a Facebook group is called sila Horlicks anonymous silhouette help I'm also the event industry lounge so but with both of those groups you can go in and post your creations and let me see what you guys came up with if you tried it if you have any issues with they go ahead and leave it as a comment below I'll do my best to try and help you through it also on facebook on my page not the group but the page Silla Horlicks anonymous I go live Monday Wednesday and Friday with a live Q&A so if you have questions about this method or just silhouette studio in general different craft things feel free to come on over and join us it's very informative they always stay up so if you aren't able to catch one live you can always watch the playback of it alright so again hopefully this was helpful just a quick recap we use in epson 7720 to accomplish this cosmos eat although any sublimation ink will work craft investees paper and we used limited on the roll if you're doing a smaller piece you can use the laminate pouches there's nothing wrong with using that if you're using if you're doing a smaller piece this laminate is very versatile I have a video I need to do one here for YouTube I do have one on Facebook where I did this to canvas you can do it on wood you can do it on metal so that's this laminate is very versatile and it allows you to submit to a lot of substrates that you thought that you probably couldn't do you know before alright so that's all trimmed away alright guys I shall talk to you all later have a great one oh I'm sorry don't forget to subscribe or hit the notification bell have a great one
