How to Start Any Launcher/Program before Windows 10 Loads (Doesn't work on Windows 11)

hello everyone Lisa here and I recently posted a video on this channel about making windows easier to use on handhelds in it I went over a lot of quality of life tweaks and showed how to start a launcher called planate before Windows starts to give you a console like experience similar to that of Steam OS since posting that video a few people have asked how to get other launchers to start before Windows what's that you want steam to launch in Big Picture Mode before Windows loads yeah we can do that you made a blood pack with Tim Sweeney and need epic games to launch before Windows um yeah we can do that you want to experience the magic of chroma from the safety of Windows I mean yeah we can do that [Music] so in this tutorial I will be going over how to launch almost any program before Windows the only real exceptions being anything from the Microsoft or Xbox stores firstly you'll need to download Play night this is because it can run scripts which is crucial for this mod to work next copy the first script from the video description and save it on the desktop as play night. Bat now download bat to exe from the Google Drive Link in the video description extract it and open bat to exe converter x64.exe browse to the planite debat file you created then check invisible application add administrator manifest and 64 bits then hit compile open Play night and click on the controller icon in the top left hand corner select settings and set play night to start minimized click save then open Notepad and paste the second script from the video description basically how this script works is it launches the program then waits for that program to load before finally starting Windows I'm going to be using steam as an example here in the second line of the script I'm going to tell play night where steam is installed on my steam deck to do that go to the desktop shortcut for your program in my case steam right click on it and select properties copy everything in the Target Field paste the information you copied from the shortcut and remove the double quotes replacing them with single quotes on the next line you're going to tell play night how long to wait before starting Windows in the case of steam I usually have to wait about 10 seconds since it takes a while to load however in the case of a lighter program like epic games I only had to wait about 2 seconds it really just depends on how long the program takes to load so you might have to use trial and error to figure out what works best for you for the last line of the script just replace Deck with your windows username if you're not sure what your username is just go back to the desktop find the play night. exe you created hold down the shift key and right click on play night. exe now select copy as path make sure you remove any double quotes so that the line is formatted the same way as mine now copy everything in notepad now reopen play night go back to the controller icon select settings on the left select scripts and on the right select application scripts paste everything that you just copied from notepad and then click save now run the play night. exe you created earlier this is going to allow play night to launch before Windows since this requires admin rights we will need to disable the user account control this is so we don't get an annoying pop up whenever window starts search for user account control and set it to never notify then click okay if you are using a program like steam make sure launch on Startup is disabled otherwise it'll open a second time when Windows loads and also make sure it's starting in full screen mode if you are using a program that doesn't have an option to launch in full screen open the program right click on the icon and right click on the name of that program select properties and set run to maximize this will allow it to fill the screen when it opens lastly there are some programs that don't like the taskbar showing up after they start and as a result it just won't go away if you run into this issue right click on the taskbar and go to taskbar settings now select automatically hide taskbar in desktop mode and that should fix the issue all right with all that taking care of we are ready to restart [Music] Windows if you've done everything correctly your desired program should load before Windows does if the Windows desktop doesn't load at all due to an error in the script hit control out Delete and select task manager run a new task and type in explorer.exe from here you can manually run the play night. exe file on the desktop or just open Play night and fix the script you can then use control or delete to restart window windows or launch Play night in full screen mode and weart it from there anyway that's it for this video guys I hope you enjoyed it please let me know if you have any questions or run into any issues in the comments down below and I would love to hear what launchers or programs you guys end up running before windows on your handouts
