How to Spend One Day in Savannah, Georgia - Travel Vlog | Best Things to Do, See, & Eat!

[Music] someone's a birthday today we're about to go into speaking beautiful Park here in the middle of the historic district we're matine at a part-time non-remote travel couple based out of Nashville Tennessee in 2021 we visited all 50 U.S states 2022 took our adventures abroad now we've set out on a journey to see as many of the 1 000 places to see before you die well before we die in our last video we were in Lisbon Portugal where we roamed the streets taking in the city's fascinating history in beautiful architecture got out on the water on a Sunset Cruise with some of the best views of the city and ended our day with an unforgettable night of traditional Portuguese music this week we're back stateside in Savannah Georgia foreign [Music] when you think of Savannah you probably think of beautiful oak trees draped with Spanish moss the historic River Street and maybe even Forrest Gump since most of the iconic scenes were filmed here and not to mention it's one of my all-time favorite movies needless to say Savannah is a city that just oozes Southern Charm and there is absolutely no way that we'll even be able to fit in just the highlights in a single day but more information and recommendations but we're going to be starting our day off at a coffee shop that's known for not only great coffee but also delicious smoothie bowls so let's get to it so I went with a cold brew because it is a nice and warm spring day here in Savannah I'm gonna give it a try for the first time right here oh man that's really good super smooth I just love cold brew and I'm so glad that warm weather is finally here I know some people drink it year round but I love my hot drinks in the winter you can't beat a good cold brew so I got a chai latte of course ice this time so I'm really excited look how cute the little mugs are that's so good 10 out of 10 recommend it's got a lot of spice but it's super creamy I'm a happy girl and for breakfast I got their purple Bowl which is topped with strawberries bananas kiwi blueberries and some other stuff that looks amazing so let's Dive In Super Fresh and refreshing like I said it's a warm day here in Savannah this is perfect breakfast I got the pink Bowl obviously because it's pink but it has mangoes strawberries and a bunch of other stuffing if you guys watch our Hawaii videos smoothie bowls are my thing I love them so much the high today is like 86 so this is going to be perfect plus it is a special someone's birthday today it's literally my birthday today I'm so excited by the time this video comes out it'll be much past her birthday but you can still wish her happy birthday in the comments but I know she loves smoothie bowls so when I found this place I knew we had to come have it for breakfast don't say then [Music] so that was amazing literally one of my all-time favorite chives yep and the Smoothie bowls were incredible my cold brew was delicious so come check out Clyde market so Matt and I've been to Savannah once before yeah so for those of you that don't know we dated long distance for five and a half years and Savannah was the Midway point between us so we have gotten to explore it like one time before together yeah and then I came by myself as a solo female traveler and the one thing that I did during my limited time here was the Old Town Trolley tour and if you know us or you've watched our DC or St Augustine videos you know that we love Old Town trolleys we think it's an incredible way to see the city and fit in a whole lot in a little amount of time so that's what we're gonna do let's go [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so much [Music] [Applause] [Music] open the directions [Music] this is so much fun if you want to book a trolley tour on your visit to Savannah we'll put a link down in the description highly highly recommend today [Music] [Music] so like I said Forrest Gump is one of my favorite all-time movies in that last Square we went to is where they put the bench that he sat on talking about life is like a box of chocolates and they don't have the bench there it's in the museum which is really upsetting because that's where I wanted to go sit and just hang out [Music] all right so I'm gonna hit you with some facts that I learned on the trolley tour let's hear it like okay so Georgia was the last Colony it was the poorest Colony but it ended up being one of the richest it's also George's oldest city and there's also over 1800 historical landmarks making Savannah the largest historical landmark District in the United States like I am obsessed this place is absolutely beautiful the historic Foundation that has preserved the entire historic district here in Savannah started in I think 1955 by 7 women and it has been responsible for making Savannah what it is really and keeping it from turning into a modern city it is absolutely beautiful so now we're at Forsyth Park it's a beautiful Park here in the middle of the historic district everybody's out sunbathing and we're just gonna roam the park and take in the sights [Music] [Music] [Music] um so we got to see the iconic Fountain yes we did learn on our trolley that there's no historical value to the Fountain they bought it out of a catalog for like twenty five hundred dollars years and years back then painted it white because it was some Wild colors but it is beautiful it's definitely worth coming and checking out thank you [Music] this architecture is amazing there's Colonial Victorian super old and our trolley guide was telling us that if you see a house with a front door that's painted red on it here in Savannah that means the house is paid for and then the city comes out and paints your door red huh who would have thought interesting all right so speaking of trolley tour we're gonna get back on it now [Music] thank you foreign [Music] so if you do the whole trolley tour which we ended up doing this is an hour and a half so we were gonna eat but since we were on the trolley that long I don't think it's gonna happen we had plans to enjoy some of the incredible restaurants that are here in Savannah like we said earlier in the video we have been here one other time together on that trip we ate at Miss Wilkes which is highly credible family style restaurant oh so good also I mean Paula Deen is based out of here I mean the southern Cuisine is second to none here in Savannah so if you want more the lodge but now we've just made it to the historic River Street we're gonna go roam the street see what we can get into and maybe grab some do now this was Natalie's go-to souvenir the Pressed Penny anywhere we went she had like an app for it to tell her where the Press Penny machines were in that City we had to go out of our way for her to pay 51 cents to get her souvenir Penny he's hating on me and when I pressed Penny I even have like a collection of them oh yeah you had like a press pay collection book didn't you oh yeah and you even have to have a specific year pennies to make them the best pressed Penny yeah that is possible so I mean I'm pretty much a pro what are your go-to souvenirs let us know in the comments [Music] still warm that's good this is my favorite kind of shopping eating and shopping that's why I love Sam's um that's all good I'm good [Music] these babies are steep I don't think they had a a code [Music] thank you [Music] y'all it is a hot one today that it is sweating to death we have now left River Street and are making our way to City Market [Music] fun fact when this was a colony this is where the market was hence the name now City Market [Music] free samples at the bar so you know where we're headed [Music] I got Georgia Peach because obviously we're in Georgia and I got their famous and most popular key lime tastes like a Georgia Peach oh you need a really good I'm really good so it's a key lime I want like eight bags because we haven't had lunch so I know this is the wrong place to come without or was it or was it [Music] Scotch oatmeal full brown sugar and cinnamon I love this one so I've already tried the Almond shortbread because I couldn't hold it that long without trying it but really good super buttery super crisp delicious I want one of each but they ain't cheap not putting that in there [Music] so I think we're going to visit the Pro Vision Museum it has a speakeasy that's why I want to go [Music] my girl I'm gonna try to do that [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you [Music] [Applause] and now back to your regularly scheduled program we're about to go into speakeasy [Music] what do you want who's it [Music] [Applause] [Laughter] I would not have done that I would have no oh yeah I have some work to do but I'll be back okay I could die I could die um so the dancing was a two-way mirror so before [Music] this is the two-way mirror we might have a contender to Natalie's trophy that she's got Running Oh I thought [Music] I feel like she's looking right at me when she's right here and she has no idea [Music] um so that experience was amazing it was our bartender was excellent the atmosphere was great and the Highlight was the fact that Natalie danced in front of the two-way mirror not knowing she was in front of a two-way mirror who literally could have died I was like I'm sorry I won but the drinks were really good I ended up getting their Brown Derby which is like a bourbon grapefruit and honey drink excellent definitely recommend it and which one did you get I got the Chatham artillery punch which is the official drink of Savannah so I had to get it and it was really delicious and apparently George Washington drank that exact drink when he came and visited Savannah so how patriotic am I but now we're gonna head back to our hotel and freshen up thank you so we regularly get questions on our videos asking where we stay on certain trips and we rarely get to actually show that but on this trip we're staying at an incredible property called the Elita so let's give you a little tour also they have this amazing car you can rent how cool is that I wish we had time to do it is that what you're gonna say yeah all right let's show you the property let's go foreign I wish you could smell this property if I could buy it in a scent I would so this property is beautiful the lobby is gorgeous they have a whiskey bar right there they also have a full restaurant downstairs a rooftop bar which we're going to be showing you later they also have a happy hour that is included from three to five the sparkling wine and cookies they had me at cookies honestly another awesome thing is they have three bike rentals all you have to do is sign a waiver and you get two hours of rental for free and it's first come first serve they obviously have a pool they have a little store I mean it's awesome they have even a record player oh yeah where you can listen to music and work you gotta check this place out but now let's go give you a little room tour yeah and happy birthday [Music] so right when you walk in you step into an awesome little welcome area with a desk here which I love because Natalie usually ends up taking over the whole bathroom and the morning's getting ready this one has a mirror so she was able to get ready without taking over the bathroom speaking of the bathroom is right behind me with an incredible and massive tile shower then you come on in everything is super modern super clean we have the main bedroom area king size bed night stands on each side wonderful modern brass fixtures on each side of the bed as well as well as reading lights built into the headboard on each side you have this awesome workspace here I love this because the desk is kind of a leather or leather texture covered so stuff doesn't slide easily on it obviously TV but then one of my favorite Parts is this whole area here you have this reading Nook Window Seat type thing with tons of storage underneath and even better the fridge is hidden underneath here awesome and you get this incredible view of the city it doesn't get much better now awesome so the full size shampoo conditioner and body wash that's exactly like the lobby downstairs ugh to die for also the full length mirrors there's two of them on both sides I could be using this one well Matt isn't in the bathroom using the other side is perfect also look how huge this reading Nook slash Window Seat is so we're gonna hang out on this awesome reading Nook and enjoy our happy hour drinks and cookies so we'll see you after we freshen up so we are all freshened up and changed but a quick change of plans we were about to head up to the rooftop bar here at the Elita hotel and found out that it is closed for private events unfortunately so we're gonna go see if we can salvage something and find a rooftop to catch sunset from let's go [Music] thank you [Music] so we got a spot on the river so we did end up right down the street from our hotel is another awesome rooftop bar called electric Moon Skytop Lounge I think it's got an awesome spot right here on the river beautiful views so we're gonna go enjoy some appetizers and drinks [Music] we got the chicken barbecue flatbread yeah and the chicken bites which is like Chipotle barbecue sauce type pretty much boneless wings I'm so excited obviously we have not eaten near enough today so I love that dough very pillowy soft but it's got a nice little uh crust on the outside almost not what I think of when I think of flatbread but I like it a lot it's closer to a Focaccia it is yeah closer to a focaccia bread than it is like a flatbread no no really good chipotle sauce on there they do have a little kick on the tail end of that massage a little bit of ranch will do some good on them oh yeah baby yeah I didn't even say spicy on the menu my nose gonna be running oh gosh let me get some carrots Natalie does not do well with spice yeah I would like to but I just can't the flavor is really good cooked really well and I like the the carrots and stuff that's celery and carrots like slow on top it's really good it's got a nice acidity to them that's why together they're really good surprisingly this is a really good spot yeah for a last minute change of plans I'm not mad at it [Music] hang on do that again ready go and go yeah so that place was really cool it even had a slides that I wish I had time to go down yeah we didn't get to take full advantage of the entire experience because like Natalie said they have slides they have the cool chairs that you sit in and they spin around they had ping pong they had cornhole yeah they had corn holes so we didn't get to take full advantage of it but the views were incredible and we're not too mad about it especially since it was a last minute change of plans but now we're headed to dinner even though those appetizers were much larger than we had anticipated we already have dinner reservations because it's Natalie's birthday so excited so let's go eat some more [Applause] so I'm not gonna be able to film The Journey to the restaurant because I'm wearing heels so I gotta hold on to Matt's hand okay I almost fell already fell over and these cobblestone streets aren't conducive to heels exactly so see you guys at the restaurant [Music] [Music] so I ordered the shrimp and grits and I'm excited to dive in it's unlike any other instrument groups I've had it's very tomato based but the Grits are so buttery so creamy I didn't get a shrimp yet but and I got their grilled 12 ounce New York strip it's encrusted with creamed spinach it also came with a twice baked potato let's try this nothing crazy special done with the meat it's just grilled grape to medium rare which is what I ordered the cream spinach obviously adds a nice creaminess it does take over the flavor a little bit maybe not the best steak I've ever had but it's good [Music] so we just made it back to our hotel after dinner and our dinner was okay it wasn't great it wasn't awful it was okay yeah it felt way too casual for the price that came with it it felt more along the lines of a Chili's experience with a price tag of about 15 to 20 dollars more per person than a Chili's experience yeah we didn't even really get any dessert for my birthday or anything because I was just like it's not worth it and that was the other thing the service was fine but they didn't really put much attention to detail I put in our reservation that it was her birthday hoping that they would at least give some kind of treat or dessert or something but it was never at least a happy birthday yeah nothing no I was never even acknowledged so I can't say we recommend it it wasn't the worst we've had but by far not the best we've had either yeah so don't let that deter you though because we're gonna have plenty of recommendations down in the Vlog so definitely check that out and we're not gonna let it ruin our day here
