How To Sign A PDF On The iPad

hey everyone welcome to ellen's tips for ios and in this quick tutorial i'll walk you through how to sign a pdf document from within an email and return it to the sender we've all been there struggling to figure out how to do this two minutes before the document is due printing signing and faxing are a waste of time and a waste of paper i hope you find this video useful if you do hit the like button and subscribe to the channel let's get started so if you're using apple mail for this process it's going to go something like this you're going to find the apple mail app and then just tap to open it and then locate the email where the document is that you need to sign so i'm just going to tap on that and you'll see that the attachment of the letter the pdf letter is is in the body of your email tap on that and it'll open it up into a preview window and what you want to do is scroll down to the area that you need to sign and i'm just going to enlarge this area a little bit so that you can see it if you're using an apple pencil you should be able to just start writing and it'll accept your signature but if you're using a stylus or your finger you're going to use this other method so what you're going to do is you're going to come up here in the right hand corner and you'll see an icon that looks like a pencil go ahead and tap on that to open it and a toolbar appears and that toolbar gives you some tools that you can use for writing pencils pens highlighters whatever you might need but we're going to tap on the plus sign and we're going to get an option for a signature i'm going to tap on that and it opens a box and if you've done this before you may already have a signature in place but i'm going to add a new signature so that you can see how this process works so i'm going to tap to add and then you have an option you can delete this signature if you're not happy with it or you can use it but i'm going to tap the plus sign and a signature box appears you're going to go ahead and i'm using an apple pencil you can use your finger or a stylus as well if you use your finger it's not usually as neat as it would be with the apple pencil or a stylus but you can give it a try i'm going to go ahead and just write my signature and when i'm done i'm going to tap done and you'll see that the signature appears in the body of the email all you need to do is use your finger you don't want to use the apple pencil because it will continue to draw on the email but if you use your finger you can drag that signature and place it where you need it to be if you like the size and everything looks okay you're good but you can adjust the size by grabbing a corner and pulling it out and bringing it back in so you can make it you know the size that you want it and you can move it make it you know put it where you want and when you're all finished go ahead and tap on done and when you do another box appears and allows you to reply all create a new message or discard the changes i'm going to go ahead and hit new message and now that brings that signed document into an email message the next step for you will be to add uh the email address of the person that you needed to go to place your subject in and when you're all finished so let me go ahead and tap and i'm just gonna put my email address in and when i do i can then put a subject on and i'm just going to put signed document and then i'll just go ahead and tap send and in less than five minutes we signed a pdf document that we need to return to the sender and we've sent it back to them i sure hope you found this video useful i'll see you next time
