hi today we replaced the newel post ahem on the staircase so first of all we need to cut Neil post off so I'm going to actually replace it with this one here so as you see there's a point you can actually place it in but we need to actually cut post so i've done we take this and we hold it the same height so how i want to hold it there we just mark a line just below and then we'll use a set square among all the way around yeah there there and as a guide we just use some clamps it's a clamp some wood on will help us sort of cut it best way to probably to really cut it is just to use a saw two hands you really so you place the camera in a reasonable physician you you so the next thing let's attach like this so you better if I chop this first and if I can call this easily sabado right let me chop this without camera just get in a way okay there we have it cut the handrail so as you see it's still spindles are still attached so shape that out that's damaged too much that's all loose as well it skipping away now to fill it out so I've done have color a little bit into the plasters hope you want too much damage see if you see the movement yeah comes away completely it's ideal so fits new market Raiders billions where chop the top it off put a couple of nails yeah next thing we'll pull up all the nails and there's a ridge just there which is a lot down a little bit this level will move the car to another take a gripper away then we'll just put the base rail in so there's a cut so then you clean up and I'll start the next bit problem it's taking out most of the nails so now I'm just leveling the edge actually filler and paint here I'm just going to chisel to the area just a better place so the base you have to be perfect but just level so strangely enough there well not surprising yours nails actually gum below like this so I've knocked them from the top here top down and I pulled them off right next thing you should take up the carpet gripper so we've got the area clear the base rail pretty simple to do somehow place the camera actually two nails there in between them all right now the copper grip is our gauge Hisle level further scrutiny I'll just give you a few more scrapes with the camera put down okay here we go it's all cleaned up now so gone scraped it down as well so it should be fairly level so the next thing is we need to find a center point of this so we can start drilling for that so i zoom in a little bit okay to get the center point for a month across so from one corner to the next oh it's just moved yeah in that one you have a center then actually going to do measure Liang I am dynamical fast the end of the first so I bring that up and you zoom out so about five centimeters size so you can use compass now just an a measure get a pencil they measure two and a half centimeters tuna oh yes find the center point and what goes exactly to the five-cent Leopold will go slightly in as you see maybe it's slightly too big a little bit me around it looks very devil okay any that and it's better actually just to use a small drill so let me get drill ready all right okay next thing let's give it camera a good position so drill bit I'm using a 10mm we want to do get the post see how to go let me get some masking tape is a marker so we don't go too deep we want it just a little bit more slightly okay buffer there don't check that come on okay that's that all just like a few more quadrants in their aim to go something like going as close as possible maybe see so if you go slow it's no point using the larger one you just make it more true cousins face you and we fold so fast so now let's weaken this on I'll get a 3d pivot so 3d drill that can be moved about multiple directions looks like this should hopefully help break it down a bit now this again is ten mil well but once it's in really twisted you okay so then we have it cleaned it out tittle go out it's quite useful actually to the chisel the very small end is actually point in and knock it out slowly slowly and the other method quite beautiful if you get chisel just a few below I've also used a slightly large through the drill bit and it does fit I think it just needs a bit more swing around there it's a nice tight fit PC so next thing I want to do is at the top of the new place just take it down at the corner slightly because while it's quite sharp on the edges you want it to match up to a certain point obviously so so you can do this so I want it two and a half centimeters so two and a half there just market obviously when you go down the mountain well let me Mitch measures existing it goes down about two centimeters you okay now let me do the article off the camera make it slightly easier okay there we have it now it is all carved down and I've used like a million plain this sort of smooth off the edges a little bit so they're not too sharp as you see yeah yeah and within the actual post in the middle part around the inside a bit more in a 3d draw bit hopefully already tried it one if it should slide in maybe so what we need to do will have to screw this in suite number directions and we'll glue it as well it's not too bad as you see the movement obviously that's you to attach it to the wall so what I'll do next I'll just get the architrave fit on this door and then we can start attaching this new post and handrail show you the distance okay there you go now we've got the young I could try to fit it on what I've also done it's scraped all the paint off this slide just I'll probably stick all this down just make easy next thing is to work on the young base rail so for that we'll have to get the center over here and then we'll draw a line straight down and then we'll get the center of the base rail and we'll just match it up I'm going down now okay so now what I've done straighten up we have some skirting board here so I'll just remove that and I've cut this rail slice Lightner mark the middle the base rail and the middle of the UM new post middle just there so there so I'll just never in now three screws should do it what I'll do it faster this better on now right so now the base rails in place we should all start working on touching the actual handrail so what we'll do is actually take this out twist out so - feed another and you'll place a hammer all down here so I've measured the distance on the top and it was actually seven centimeters so I measured seven go for the center across four and a half four and a half so here's an off cut of an actual handrail well I've done I've got the middle marked out at the top at the bottom and what we want to do we're going to just draw in the shape so just looking at the mark at the top making sure it lines up with the mark at the bottom not just mark around it so you sort of keep it in the center we should you got a rough sort of idea where's so got a fake it got your hammer oh the true bolt if you drill from one end to the other which is pop out here but obviously we got the measurements correct so sort of roughly measure things out the other day let me measure it up so we want to sort of get it on the centre so measure the center so you find the position we want and we just draw the markings on it literally all we need is the ball to pop out then the handrail will have that figure on it so we'll just screw onto other let me get things prepared and marked onto there you know call again today you have it I actually roughly got a sensor on that and I them on the position of this and I've got the middle for the bolts line so because this is tricky doing it one-handed well 200 days without any additional hold the camera Bolton the dual pose to the side so let's give it the bit we'll need to it and you see it that's perfect size here - no I'll touch that now we can we can drink roof for a dark place piece of wood underneath it so please go away please the reason for the wood underneath show doesn't split the other side too much when it goes all the way through you want to aim to get it pretty central possible till that go through I'm not too bad keep it slow sting is to go further reason being obviously for the bulb to become songcraft so bit what I'm going to do is I'm fill the holes just be easier rather than do anything girls who you get the caps to pull over it Arthur projects for them so it's not too bad exactly Center but fortunately you'll get they noticed so this goes in the in there and the box it's on there so we need going in obviously a certain amount so stick say so you get about pretty there so obviously the drill bit will have to go it asked him to remark how much we need to grow it on this is recording by far sign up to the I hope it will have to go in about their market proximately double-check it's just the and that's just yeah okay back home here obviously easy if you've got someone oh okay here we place the drill bit okay the drill bits on placing it in position so I don't press into the actual wood too much cause a mock okay if it fits in on the screen or in BO then fine there you go come out the other end this line putting in your post back in place and then we can start measuring up there oh just move it inside annual position when your post is going to go so what I'll do for some glue and there's hopefully that will help this stick it in place as well as that little Simone so nailed into I will need the plants again just to keep it in line with the existing bottom pile and post right so that places outwards gonna be some excess looking a shift that in a little bit more now the excess just here one here make sure it's in line and one on the other side my Z well sir make sure that sing place yeah too bad find the clamps to the top now Ricky one-handed drink hi place slipping cat burglars get a bit of wood will bang it down that's some of the flavor okay so there we go newel post is in position bolt is there is to point the actual screw person to attach the actual henro that's what you are so far so let me start getting a handrail ready and we can drill into it in preparation to fit in right so if actually get the handrail measurement just polished going your major then the downward twenty two so it's two and a half I've marked this one up already you just go two and a half and then we just drilled straight into it let me mark that up I'll get it ready for drilling so there's a center point and we just need to first of all drill enough to fit this in so that's a ten I think that's too small which goes for your thirteen slightly larger now to be think of twelve of dirt find the time just right obviously you want to counter sunk it we do that when I go to twenty five I think okay 25 made to just smooth it off around there so maybe we'll go in with the 25 first and then we'll do the 10 so for the open up to 10 7 8 12 so looking at it let's get their masking tape ready just need to go in enough to sit it in so if I go for that much the bitterness is drilled the drilled pants on so just need to screw it in then you're ready to be fed so here we have now the handrail fitted as you can see bolt goes through there it's attached onto the end here I have to sort of hold it in a little bit here I'll put a nail in there I'll put a couple more in and us slide it slid the actual arm spindles in there as well they're not to the correct size yet I mean spacing I'll do that later on so I've calculated that it's about seven point six centimeters to get even spacing all the way long so sort of cut one spindle and using the measurements of that just cut all the others in one go and just loop them in so as you can see make sure to move them we've all along see-saw like me to do now but the space is in and glue it that'll be the next stage okay so here's all the spindles take it out and just to show you I've cut them all the size and what you do is just play some ball in you want to go space them out you they don't fit in just drop them down like so and then slam into place okay so I've cut spaces so again what I did with a miter saw the tree jammed some wood into one end of miter saw and then every other one that was chopped could just be chopped the same size in the saw blade was about there and then obviously measured out distance between them you won't need there was an additional spindle I did but we need that youngness it will look a bit strange it would have been there so get someone would adhesive check the first one looks fine I've hoovered into the gap as well something there place it in tight as possible what I might do just put a little bit in there there's nice and tight again the next one she need to much really okay again so to do the top one what we will get a split-level hold it against it and we'll get it level first eight level there you go and then get one of the slots put some glue on them not sure if I have to nail this in or to stay in place but let's see it's not bad staying it's moved so we'll just make sure it's level massive proceed with the next one that okay so I did glue this in but I think it's actually better if we put panel Pippin in only because as you put the other ones in it may move so that's level at the ointment that's in place just make sure it's it's correct I want to make a mistake at this stage now that's level panel in tiny now will actually sink it in right in and I'll just fill it in later on I'll get my leaves there you go nothing great okay okay here's the stairs with the spindles fitted in now all finished let's just show the last few cuts I had to do now and that these go all done thanks for viewing you
