How to Put a Worksheet in Canvas

start by finding a PDF of whatever worksheet it is you want to give students I highly recommend PDF because they open on pretty much any device if it's something from Word or some other software the parents of the child may or may not have a way to open it if you have the PDF already in your My Documents or on your desktop you can use that I want to demonstrate finding one on the internet and using it I found this one on futuristic comm and I'm gonna hit the print here button open normally and take a look at it Wow looks nice and then I need to save it where I'll be able to find it I need to download it it will show up down here in my bottom left corner usually I can either just open it or I can click here and show showing folder it went into my Chrome downloads folder and this is the name of it I can move it by dragging it to the desktop or I could drag it into My Documents wherever you want to put it I'm gonna take it to desktop or I could just leave it here in Chrome loads nope I already did this once so I'm going to replace it I could leave it here in Chrome downloads and upload it to a canvas from here as well it's a little harder to find so I'll close that then I'll open my canvas class I'm pretending I'm a first grade teacher today and normally you'd start at home I want to add it to my modules just quickly if you haven't made your fourth day yet you click plus module name it day four scroll down to the bottom and you'll find the module down there add a page to it by clicking the plus sign choose content page new page and name it I'm gonna call this math day for add the item shows up in the module now you probably don't want the module down at the bottom for parents so grab here on the 8 dots and drag upwards when you get out of room just stop drag it up some more I'll put it here probably been nice if I'd followed this pattern grade one day for now let's edit this page click on it click Edit and we need to put the PDF file into the files of canvas it needs to be here on the website they can't open something off of your computer so I'm gonna go to files click upload a new file find the file and since I put on my desktop here it is on my desktop if it wasn't on my desktop I would navigate to where it actually is click on it and click open now it's ready to be uploaded into your folder click upload and it automatically helps you out by putting a link to it there on the page but it uses kind of an ugly name I'm gonna leave that link so you can also do it this way click here to see the worksheet practicing today's skills write your answers sheet of paper and turn in okay I'm going to highlight this part and then go over here and find that file click on it and now it's turned the part that I had highlighted into a link oh I need to fix my typos too I'm going to just save so there's the original link there's the new length this one's the one it made automatically not the prettiest now be sure let's go to modules to publish both the page and the module before day four it's important to both click here and click here if they aren't both green they can't see it if this is turned off and they can't see this page because the module it's in doesn't show to see what the students and parents will see go to settings and click student view you're now seeing your classes if you're a student in the class so they should go to e-learning or modules goes to the same place day four and click on either link and it will open from the website they can just view it and write the answers on paper now if they choose to print it that's okay but you cannot require it to get back to it click the back arrow and they'll need to do the same thing and then they would do anything else you've put on this page if you need to get out or when you need to get out of student view click leave student view and you're back on the pages yourself and there you have it oh just quickly if you want to get rid of one of these click at it highlight the part you want to get rid of and delete it you can also use the editing buttons up here to change the font size style etc and there you have it you
