How To Protect Your Building Foundation // Protection From Erosion & Water Splash

[Music] welcome back again to our channel my name is kenny in this video i'll be showing you how to protect the base of your building it is essential for you to protect the base of your building one against erosion if you are done with your building project and you have the natural ground you know at the base of your building it is not too good because over time water will wash the top soil away and the base of the building will be exposed and also if you have done this stamp concrete or mass concrete or interlock in your compound and it's not flushing to the base of the building so that place that you have the topsoil is exposed and with time water will wash it away um secondly uh you need to protect the bees of your building because of a splash of water you see this is a natural ground close to the base of the fence of a building so if you don't do this there will be stains on the wall so that is what we'll be doing in today's video how to protect the base of your building from erosion and splash of water i think some people just do these around the base of their building especially where they have the plumbing pipes you know running across uh instead of doing the mass concrete across broad to give room for maintainers in the future i will be using uh these topper caps that's the type of caves i will be using for this uh tutorial and i always recommend these because it is strong and then it will serve the purpose for which you want to protect your building also you need the plum you need the lines among other tools that you see as we carry out the projects okay the first thing to do is to offset your distance from the reference point uh and our reference point in this case is the wall of your building so you you set what distance you want away from the building and one thing you need to establish first uh is something like a call setting out uh of what you want to do so this line that is being tied to the caps there is more or less consider like the construction line so you establish the first points and take your measurements position as well make sure it is a balanced place so that the caps won't fall off so once you have done that then the next thing to do is to go to the next point you know it's like when you are drawing a line you need two points to establish a straight line so at the same base of the building again somewhere around the base of the building you establish the second point uh using the temporary curves again so once you've taken the measurements you know then leave it there then you take the last cab so we're using three cabs in this case now the four steps to establish the first point the second case would establish the second point and then we are transferring this line to the third point so how do you do this you put the line around the third caps and then you distance it away from the second case in the middle and then gradually you'll be shifting it back until it is just about touching the second curve in the middle so you are done establishing the straight uh line and i call this a construction line so you can remove these center caps and then these are giving you the set out of what you want to excavate so you can do this excavation this is a cab so uh we are not going to be doing a serious deep excavation just excavation of about uh 200 mm depths is okay so this is the excavation being done yes now the next step to do is to first of all establish the first caps you know and then i'll be showing you briefly how to do that when you are doing carrying out construction you need to establish the first cape uh the extreme of the uh what you call it that particular side of the building so we have established the first one using that our line you know then we come back to this uh corner of the building again and establish the second case that's the first and the last case on this side of the building then that's what we're trying to do spread spread spread your mortar again and then balance it in a way so that i do not give you difficulty to position the caps to balance up if you place your calves and then the cabs is not touching the line then you have to add more motor and if the caps is a above the line you have to remove the caps and then you will remove some water so that it will just be aligned with that line that we've established actually at the edge you need to be careful while doing this now you are establishing the corners because that's the first thing you need to do so we are done with this side we are moving to the other side of the building now so we will establish that as well okay um once you are done please ensure that you check the square of the building with a builder square but for these kind of caps that's why i love these caps you may not necessarily need a beautiful square because the mood is a is perfect and then this is matching mode not the manual way of making caps that you have kept there are no streets so this is what we are trying to do here now to establish the corners you know once you are done establishing the corners then you can proceed to the next step so i'm done establishing the corners so the next thing to do is to begin to arrange for how i will position my caps in between the corners that i have established so get your motor ready and then you'll be spreading it in the excavation dock so at this stage what you'll be doing is to transfer the lines from the construction line caps like i said earlier on and then to the first and the last caps are the corners and then you establish two lines that you can see in the video one by the side then one on top of the curve so once you have done this it will give you a guide on how to position other ones in the middle and then you can do your connection all along and this work is made easier the lines actually make the work become easier because once you have that line and the two lines actually they will give you guides and direction as to what to follow and you observe that you may not even need to use plum anymore because the lines are already guiding you you may just use plum just to check if everything is in place so you'll be doing these and then take your time and be careful why doing it so that you will not use the current curves that you are positioning to affect the previous one in a case whereby um you are you are you are just looking for maybe a small movement to make the whole thing set you can use the mallet and then with the mallet you put it in place alright so we're about done do you like what you're seeing if yes
