welcome back to another episode everybody um make the intro short today we are going to gut the ccv filter um a lot of you guys watch the video i did a ccv filter delete and when i did my fuel filter change i don't know why i did this but i just did i replaced the actual filter you know on the engine and that that was pointless for me to buy that and put that in there i could have just gutted the old one and you know saved myself 100 and something bucks on a filter and um after i did a little bit of research on it people were saying that if you don't got the ccv filter create all kinds of build up it's going to create a bunch of pressure and you can start blowing seals and what i've been noticing with my truck is after a long drive i've been smelling like um kind of i don't know if it it's kind of hard to tell you know over everything else it kind of smells like a mixture of like gear fluid or oil or i just smell some sort of oil that's either being burnt or dripping that's getting hot i'm not sure so i'm just gonna go ahead and delete this filter just because i or got the filter just because i've wanted to do it for a while now and i actually have a chance to so it's pretty easy i did a video on it before and i don't think i ever ended up uploading it i'm gonna go grab some tools and we can get to it [Music] so yeah i don't think i actually did end up uploading that video but this color right here is what i'm going to probably end up doing with most of the motor work and the suspension stuff um i didn't really take my time on painting this i just kind of wanted to do like a little test on what it would look like and uh i ended up scratching it when i did the um rail plug i dropped the bolt down in there so i got to grab that but now getting getting to this filter is super easy you just kind of got to be careful with what you're doing you guys can tell like it's not in horrible shape i do notice right there though that it's kind of starting to feel back but it's coming out of here anyway so let's uh let's go figure this out all right so we got it off we're in the out here in the shed so pretty much what you're going to do is you're going to make you can make a cut here you can make a cut here pretty much a cut on each corner and then i you know some people make a cut right down the middle so we'll see if we can pop this thing out mine's this is a this is an oem filter so it's a little bit different i know like the stock ones or oem ones they have two big tabs here and then two tabs here here and it basically runs through it down to the bottom and it locks the top to the bottom or vice versa or whatever so this one i was actually kind of prying on it with a flathead and it kind of lifted up a little bit easier than it did on my oem one but we're just going to go ahead and make it easy instead of trying to break anything we'll just make these cuts here and i'll see if we can get it off all right so we made our cuts um make sure you guys have um you know take precautions with the stuff um i've had wheels fall off of angle grinders before and this is like the world's most sketchiest angle grinder i got this for free for a reason from somebody you know people just don't give like that away um this thing is super sketchy at you know you push the pin down to lock it so you can take the wheel off and that thing will just catch on its own it's just sketchy so make sure you guys wear safety protection you know do all that good stuff and uh start whacking away at this thing here [Music] [Music] [Music] all right so i'm gonna start busting all the stuff out of here um i'll get back to you when i get it out and get it all hollowed out uh i don't think you guys want to see her watch me bust all this out but all this plastic came up pretty easy and like i said that's not like an oem one there's they're a little bit more tricky i think just a little bit more well built so yeah let's get this done all right guys so i found this to probably be the easiest way is just to take a little flat head and just kind of chisel your way around you know make sure make sure you're going on an angle you know like this trying to get underneath it instead of going like this you know up high because you'll probably just end up blocking it through the plastic so that'll honestly that worked out way easier and to get down to get down to this to this point right here where i could like see the edge of the plastic and kind of see what i was heading i just took a razor you know razor knife and i kind of pulled back on the you know the filter and i just kind of cut around the edge of it i did the same thing pulled it this way cut on the inside cut around it and i was able to pull it out but it did did come apart and just all kinds of pieces but i mean it came out so i'm gonna go ahead and just keep chipping away at this and i'll show you what it looks like when it's done all right there she is all cleaned out um yeah i made all kinds of scratch marks and stuff whatever it doesn't matter what's going underneath you won't see it nothing's gonna flake off or break off so um it's been kind of a pain in the ass working here honestly i uh have like nothing organized i had parts laying everywhere the bows toolbar i mean just all kinds of stuff so i made a little bit of room right here and that's everything that came out of it jesus christ that was uh that was pretty fun so we're gonna go uh we'll throw this thing back in and see what happens all right well she's in it's all all back together um i'm about to go to the store and get some oil and a new filter and i'm going to do an oil change on this thing so i'm probably just going to grab a new filter for this guy too it kind of seems probably able to blow it out and clean it so i might not get one i don't know we'll see what happens but um i do got some other issues going on with this truck so i'm going to do a follow-up video on if i notice anything different with gutting that and um i have a blower motor problem and i'm having issues with my lights so i'm thinking maybe i have my lights keep dimming when i'm driving something you know i'll watch my battery voltage on the cts2 monitor and my battery the voltage fluctuates you know go from 13 to 14 13 to 14 just keep going up and down so i'm going to check this crossover wire you know from this side to that battery and check my grounds and now i got to go through some stuff so um that's it for this video i hope you know it helped you guys a little bit doing yours so if it did smash that thumbs up button um comment if you got any questions and uh thanks for watching we'll see you next time
