today's video we're going to be building a fire pit inside that circle right there there's the fire pit there's benny so the fire pit is called valencia holy moly oh jeez was not expecting that for some reason anyway it's made by taco block it's called the valencia fire pit a shale gray is the color tone so it's called the valencia fire pit made by tuckerbug there's the face of the block that you will see these are the backs but that's just how they stack them on the pallet so if you haven't seen the video before on how we cut these pavers and installed these uh contrasting border pavers make sure you check out that video hit the thumbs up hit that subscribe button and let's get right into building this concrete block fire pit made by tekko block [Music] [Music] first row of the fire pit is in and she's level as you saw me do at the beginning i leveled out the base as best as possible and once you have that you can lay your whole row your first row in and just um set them in with your dead blow hammer and check your level and if you're pretty close you're within those um within those lines on the level you're good to go and the next step now is put on another row of block but in between each row of block we're going to use a concrete block adhesive that works for high temperature and is designed for fire pits like this this is made by alliance there's a lot of different um manufacturers for this kind of stuff but this one's alliance permanent bond 24 hours gator block bond adhesive is what it's called kind of hard to tell here because it's small print formulated for permanent bonding overlays and pool copings fast care time steps and wall caps which we just use a lot for fire pits retaining walls masonry units stones and bricks concrete pavers is so works on all this kind of stuff it's just a concrete adhesive there's a lot of different types of them out there what you're gonna do is um you're gonna factor you're gonna factor in one tube this is a small two tube 10 ounces one tube of glue per row and like i said before we're gonna use this entire tube on this row and what you're gonna do is start about three inches back from the front so that there's no seepage in the front he's just gonna put a solid bead around the front and the back [Applause] and if you do the whole thing and you still have some left in the tube go back and fill in some of these spots here and just use the rest of it it's the easiest way to estimate and you want to keep it nice and strong [Applause] so that's one tube right there and as you can see it creates a perfect layer on the inside and out per row now this is gone i can factor one more tube on the next row so now that we're starting another row what we need to do with these blocks is stagger the joint what i mean by stagger it is this is our joint for the block we want to put that right halfway with the new one and what we're looking to line up is the front corners we want to push it back you're going to see this pop out on the rope beneath it so now that that's pretty much halfway we're just laying our blocks out for now right on top of the glue we don't have to get too fancy because we're gonna probably have to do some um tweaks and finessing of the block to make sure everything's good and tight so we just laying them in it's that simple glue gets a nice bond [Applause] [Applause] all right so there's our row we want to look at it even as of now looks like it's further this way and it is over here so we just want to do some uh we just want to do some adjusting with the hammer i want these drawing lines to be nice and tight so all right that's two rows down there's three more rows on the pallet this fire pit goes uh five rows high and the block is three inches so it's a 15 inch high fire pit taco block valencia fire pit with the color tone of shale gray rinse wash and repeat with the process glue glue the next row set the next row on top of it glue that row set the next row on top of it you end up using four tubes of glue on this project so that's a good way to factor if you can find out how many rows your fire pit is sometimes that is different depending on the height of your block so find out how many rows you have and that's how many tubes of glue you need maybe buy one extra just in case how's it look benny huh damn right it doesn't [Music] so i used three quarter inch stone to fill up the inside is five rows i bury the first two just so the fire is not so low inside the fire pit when you're sitting around it the flames a little higher than if you were to leave it at the bottom so back fill the stone up to the bottom of the third layer and the last thing we have to do everything's glued but um almost any kind of concrete block fire pit you get especially rounded ones are gonna have edges that stick out like this and that can really um ruin the look of the fire pit so you can see when you come around the corners they're all popping out and uh the remedy for that is to just use a hammer and a chisel and we're gonna break the edges off to make it smooth [Music] so so there it is final result these ones glued and leveled off while the edges are chipped back filled with three quarter inch stone the fire is not too low what do you think benny patio is done fire pit's done only thing left to do now on this job is polymerics and the joints and fix all the excavation damage on the turf so we'll be spreading topsoil and planting grass seed around the edges fixing all that up but it's been a great job this is day number six on this job from beginning till till now six days here with two guys 650 square foot patio with a fire pit custom fire pit round round circle inlay looks good the only thing like i said we got to do is come back in polymeric scene and unfortunately we can't do that tomorrow for the next couple days because of rain and if any of you that are watching i've done polymeric sand before you know you can't do it when the pavers are wet or the polymeric sand will stain the wet pavers all right guys that's gonna wrap up this video fire pit is built video's done if you guys enjoyed the video hit that like and subscribe if you hadn't seen the video before how we'd put the border in and cut all our pavers so that we could build that fire pit make sure you check that out until the next one [Music] so [Music] so [Music]
