egypt is a historical and fascinating place with a lot to offer taurus this is katie from creative travel guide and today we share our tips on how to plan a trip to egypt looking for more travel tips make sure to hit subscribe and ring that notification bell so firstly let's talk about why you should visit egypt egypt is home to the famous pyramids but you could also find incredible temples all over the country and every city is brimming with history plus food in egypt is unique to the country and a must try of course you also have the river nile another famous tourist attraction an iconic river known around the world so once you're planning your trip to egypt the first thing you want to start at is when to visit visiting egypt in the spring is the best time to visit the country the weather is warm and pleasant the attractions aren't too crowded and rates are slightly cheaper than the summer months as well avoid visiting during ramadan and during the months of june and august the temperature in egypt during the summer is too hot to see the attractions properly and they are often very busy at this time as well high season in egypt is december to february so expect higher prices and busier attractions head here from november through to march to get cheaper rates [Music] so now let's talk about some of the things you need to know before you go to egypt firstly water you can use the tap water to brush your teeth but it is not recommended that you drink it bottled water is fairly inexpensive costing around five egyptian pounds but on a similar note make sure to keep hydrated it can get incredibly hot in the desert so make sure to drink plenty of water and we recommend bringing electrolyte tablets to give you that extra boost during your visit the currency in egypt is the egyptian pound and make sure to bring plenty of change around with you when you are visiting popular attractions there are often opportunities to take photos with camels or in front of various temples but do remember that locals will expect you to pay for the privilege of taking your photograph often when planning a trip to egypt many people will consider is the country safe or not to visit of course as every destination in the world you will need to take sensible precautions do not walk around late at night by yourself and we highly recommend that you book excursions or tours through your hotel the vast majority of trips to egypt are trouble free that being said make sure to plan your trip in advance thoroughly check hotel reviews on websites like tripadvisor and make sure that you have everything booked in advance also if you plan on visiting the temples and popular attractions in the cities then make sure to dress appropriately both men and women should cover their shoulders and legs there aren't any specific dress codes at most major tourist landmarks but avoid tank tops and very short skirts or shorts if possible also another thing for drone lovers leave your drone at home egypt have some strict regulations about drone usage and you will need a license from the ministry of defense if you plan on using one there are many stories of people having their drones confiscated from them at the airport so it's best to leave it at home [Music] so now we move on to the best places to visit in egypt so of course the number one reason that most people visit egypt is to see the pyramids this is the last surviving seven wonders of the ancient world and is one of the most famous landmarks in the world these pyramids are still as incredible today as they were when they were built and should not be missed make sure to spend some time in cairo as well it is a historic city and we recommend you check out all of the ancient buildings dotted around this walled city you can find mosques shrines mausoleums gates markets and more in cairo but also whilst you're in egypt try to visit the valley of the kings in luxor the town of luxor is home to many famous sites and the valley of the kings is a must visit during your time in egypt for something a little different head to alexandria this is the most european-style city in egypt whilst also rich in history the city was founded by alexander the great was home to cleopatra and is now a seaside city from days gone by and of course we can't make a list of the best things to do in egypt without including the nile so this is one of the most famous rivers in the world this stunning nile is filled with interesting flora and fauna and a trip along the river nile will give you an insight into the different size of egypt make sure to compare cruises before you book anything some cruisers don't actually go that far so make sure you know what to expect before you book anything we also recommend you visit the city of aswan the quiet town on the curves of the nile is a gorgeous place to soak in the atmosphere and relax explore the colorful streets of the nearby villages head to one of the many riverboat restaurants and drive along the edge of the nile another great place to visit is abu simbel this is a gigantic temple cut into solid rock cliff which is dedicated to a number of ancient egyptian gods this famous landmark was originally located on the nile but had to be moved to lake nasa during the aswan dam project it was actually taken apart piece by piece and rebuilt and still looks fantastic if you are a diver we recommend you head to the red sea coast this is a diver's paradise shamal chic is a holiday resort area full of luxury hotels nightclubs casinos and restaurants but it also offers plenty of tours to go and snorkel nearby the waters here are incredible as are the exotic fish and coral hergada is another great option for those looking for a quiet resort town on the edge of the red sea getting here can be bumpy with the trip taking six hours on a bus from cairo however this is a great alternative to sham or shake and is becoming more and more popular you can visit high-end hotels along the waterfront or try scuba diving to see the incredible coral reefs the area also offers snorkeling wind surfing and jet skiing options too dashraw is a small village south of cairo and is home to lesser known and therefore less crowded pyramids many pharaohs built their own pyramids here totaling 11 with the bent pyramid and red pyramid being a musty for relaxing
