How to PERMANENTLY Disable Auto Start Stop

hey guys welcome to Town & Country TV today I'm going to show you how to permanently disable the auto start-stop feature on your new Ford vehicle now as you probably saw in our previous video the 2018 f150 that feature is going to be standard across the board on the 2.7 3.5 it's gonna be all across the engine choices on that vehicle so if you don't want the vehicle which a lot of people don't it's not a very controversial feature but it's not an evil feature it's a really nice feature to help save you big on gas especially in the city and stop-and-go traffic so first off I'm going to show you how it operates how it works on the vehicle when you're driving it and stuff like that and then I'm going to show you how to permanently get rid of that feature so the auto start-stop features a very intelligent feature and the way it works is that the vehicle will now get shut off if you have your foot on the brake and the truck meets a lot of different criteria such as you have to have your seat belt buckle the climate if the climate is on too high it's not going to turn off because it's going to maintain that climate you won't if you had the climate on maybe halfway or lower than half it might turn off until the AC isn't blowing cold enough error if the heats not blowing hot enough it'll turn the vehicle back on automatically now another reason that it might not turn off is because of right now the steering wheels turns its engine on due to steering wheel maneuvering and also if the battery doesn't have a good enough charge is not going to turn off until the battery can support turn the crank of the vehicle up again now of course you do know that you can push this button but a lot of people just complain it's too much work to push that button each time you get inside the vehicle so as you can see here the engine is on due to steering wheel maneuvering now if I straighten the steering wheel engine on due to normal operations so we're going in a straight line we're driving and we come to a complete stop so as you can see right there the vehicle just turned off and the vents are still blowing the radios still playing if I wanted my heated seats on they would still be working and that is only because my foot is on the brake as soon as I take my foot off the brake it cranks right back up before you can even put your foot from the brake to the gas this vehicle is ready to go so right now the engine is on because of the climate summit turn that off and then pull up a little bit so just like that the engine stops again so now I just to show you how quick this feature works on three I'm going to take my foot from the brake to the gas and give it a pretty heavy throttle and just see how quick we can get up speed so one two three and just like that the vehicle is cranked up in milliseconds it's not even a whole second before you're ready to go so without further ado let's go ahead and show you this this is a pretty simple thing cost about $8.99 at Walmart or autozone somewhere like that but this is a trailer lot tester so what you do is you plug this in and then it makes the vehicle think that you are pulling a trailer so it is not going to turn off ever again with this feature let's check out how it works so now let's take this feature and plug it in and see what the truck says about that [Music] so that's all it is the man a little bit I'm sure you can find a smaller one out there but that is all it is it's gonna stay there and it's not going to hurt anything so let's go ahead and hop and hop back inside the truck and see what it says so it thinks the trailer is connected which it doesn't really matter if it thinks it is or not it's not going to change the way the vehicle is going to drive but now we're just driving down the road so as long as that is in there it's never going to turn the vehicle off automatically and let's see it once we turn the vehicle with that goal and turn it back on if it defaults to the trailer connected and sure does so from then on out you're not not to worry about that any longer so with that being said on all new 2018 f150 so we'll have it I was kind of crazy cuz uh about last week I drove the new Raptor and I was driving it and I came to a stop and the thing turned off I'm like okay that's a bit much forward because it's a raptor we don't really care about gas mileage on a raptor and here comes auto start-stop just not necessary on a raptor but when you've got a vehicle like this it's gonna daily drive and drive through traffic downtown traffic you want that feature to help you save gas I mean it's only gonna do it if the vehicle can support it so we hope you enjoyed this video if you did kind of useful give us a thumbs up it really helps us out also be sure to subscribe you already heaven you can do that by clicking right here or you can check out another video down here thanks for watching and have a great day [Music] [Applause]
