If i want to paint custom designs on top of the first layer of paint, would I have to do it after the first layer of paint dries but before the finish? Or can i paint on top of the finish

Thanks for this great guide. Your color scheme kind of reminds me of the NES a bit.

Beautiful work! Love the colorway as well... orange and purple go really well together. The original G Pro still holds its place as best overall shape for me.

[Music] welcome guys sense here this week's episode of mouse modding 101 i'm going to show you how you can turn your boring egg into a beautiful egg like this one have fun with the video bye guys first we need to disassemble the mouse this obviously depends on the mouse model and how to exactly do that can be researched in youtube from my personal experience it is quite easy when you just follow the path of the visible screws in this shot you can see that i changed the switches of the g-pro if you're interested in a video about how to do that let me know in the comments you can see that i proceed to disassemble the mouse even further how extensively you do that strongly depends on personal preference having better colored edges and the possibility to use multiple colors without spending too much time masking later on for the cost of maybe like two more minutes is really worth in my opinion the next step you need sandpaper i recommend getting multiple grid sizes because they all have their different use cases most of the times you can find a set at your diy store which includes all three there are two ways to send your mouse you can either dry sand or you can wet sand i like wet sanding more since you can't inhale the tiny parts of plastic you rub off and also i can get a better overall result if you decide to wet sand make sure you buy the fitting sandpaper in the first place i do multiple runs with different grid sizes working my way up from the lowest to the highest number this way i use a finer grit every run you don't need to be super careful during this process just take care that you used a rougher sandpaper mindfully because you could make the edges and the general mouse shape less sharp you can see me wiping the part dry several times i do this to check if i sanded every area of the part this is really hard to see on wet parts so take your time and check your progress now and then the sanding part is quite important because the more evenly you sand at the surface of your part the better the primer and the color will stick to it this is how a part should look after sanding it properly now you can proceed to mask your parts take your time doing this and use a quality masking tape trust me on this one it makes it so much easier [Music] also try to mask areas where you don't want color because it could harm the functionality of the mouse an example would be the area where the plastic mouse button touches the switch additionally i wipe the parts with a degreaser to ensure the best possible adhesion with a primer after finishing all the easy parts we need to mask tricky things like rgb areas or logos you can either use a razor blade or a scalpel for cutting the masking tape [Music] utilizing the flashlight of your phone does wonders for this finicky there you can see the end result of masking the logitech logo we are now finally done with the annoying part of the process we need plastic primer colors and a finish for the finish you can decide if you want your end result matte glossy or in between the surface of your parts needs to be 100 clean so you get the best end result therefore you don't want to make anything dirty by touching it now you should either wear gloves or clean your hands with a fat dissolving soap finally we can start spraying stuff start off with two layers of primer normally i wait between two and four minutes between the layers let the primer dry for about five to ten minutes now it gets really fun apply the first layer of color start off gentle and try to finish with an even coating again we wait between two and four minutes before we apply the second layer try to move the can as evenly as possible a number one trick is not to panic yes you're spraying paint and yes it's super annoying to start from scratch but still try to stay calm while spraying i recommend to check if you're satisfied with your result before you apply the finish apply the finish as smoothly as possible i think by now you got the point this time you can basically do as many layers as you want every layer will make the effect of the finish stronger although this is personal preference i wouldn't necessarily do more than 3 coats after you waited for about 24 hours you can proceed to finish the project this is the fun part where you can peel off the mask tape reassemble your mouse and slowly start to realize how great it looks [Music] you can sand the areas where you masked off logos or rgb to make them more smooth i would recommend that you use the sandpaper with the highest number [Music] look at that wonderful egg finally you are finished and you can enjoy your old new mouse if you enjoyed this week's episode please leave a like which most would you love to paint let me know in the comments have a great week and goodbye there's a little bonus for the video what do you do if you mess up first of all don't panic it's annoying but it can be fixed pretty easy wait till the paint dries sand the surface prime it and just spray it again see it's not that big of a deal
