HOW TO MAKE YOUR PATIO DOOR SLIDE BETTER

hi there tony bonus here with starland windows the question we often asked is how can i make my patio door roll better now i'd like to give you a few little tips of what you can look for and what you can do to make your patio door slide better so let's get started so the first thing you want to do is actually give a visual inspection of your track now if you see any dirt and debris grass fur hair whatever rock sand what you want to do is grab your vacuum cleaner and vacuum out that whole track so open your doors close your doors go through the whole length of it and make sure you give it a good vacuum and once you've actually finished vacuuming i always suggest grabbing some windex or household cleaner and spraying that track system grab a nice clean cloth give it a good wipe down you're going to also take off any dust particles you're going to get rid of any boot or footprints off there so always keep that track nice and clean and the next thing you want to do is give a visual inspection of your rollers now your rollers are actually just on the bottom of the vents obviously so right here where you see these brass screws there's actually a double axle roller that looks like this and those wheels have to sit on that stainless steel track just like so some cases when the vent was installed whether during installation or delivery or whatever that these wheels could have um jumped off the track so what you want to do is make sure they're on the track you could actually still roll the sliders if they are off the track but it will definitely bind and not work properly so visual inspection give it a quick lift here like that and make sure it's on the track and that's one of the most important things actually to make sure that's on there there's also an adjustment screw which is the bottom screw here and what that does if you get a robertson screwdriver it'll actually lower the wheel so if you're actually high centered on the track as you can see that lowered the wheel which is going to raise the vent and it won't high center then then you want to bring it back up if it's too high just bring it counterclockwise back into normal like that so the one thing you want to do though is make sure you equalize both tandem rollers on both sides of the vent because you do not want your patio door rolling kind of crooked down the track like that you want to make sure it's nice and square going evenly so yeah visual inspection so vacuum out the track make sure the wheels are on the track and give it a nice wipe down and just make sure these are nice and equal and if you've got a problem with your strike not matching properly that's just another little tip there's actually an adjustment screw at the very top here all you need is a flathead screwdriver you can turn it in clockwise and what that'll do is it'll actually engage your your strike plate to come out further so it can actually hook onto the strike latch here so if it's not coming out far enough what you want to do is just turn that until it comes out and you can adjust it another key feature about these strike plates is they're actually adjustable as you can see the screws go in you can put your three inch juicer here once it's in the right location but these are actually adjustable so if you put a fastener you can back them off and you can adjust to the right point and just put your three-inch screws in there so yeah that's those are some tips about how to make your patio doors slide better and my final final tip is actually my favorite product here is pledge or any furniture polish i don't why don't work for pledge is give your track a nice spray of pledge on the bottom here and what that'll do is it'll wax up that roller wax up that steel track and it'll it'll glide so nice like that like a hot knife through butter and if it's still a little sticky or if it's heavier patio vent you can also go to the top pocket of the door and spray the top pocket and it'll actually slide even better but those are some tips on how to make your powder door roll better for any more frequently asked questions how-to videos check us out on youtube instagram facebook linkedin we'd love to hear from you love to hear your comments view our videos share them and if you've got any questions do not hesitate to call us or contact us look forward to hearing from you
