How to make the classic Shrimp Creole

yo what up kenny bogus taste this welcome to another exciting adventure kenny's kitchen with your boy young kitchen that would be me yo baby lately's on spring break this week so um i'm gonna hold it down for you know so this week man we're going to take it to new orleans baby to the new orleans you know we're going to hit y'all with a kenny's kitchen tape on a it's a classic creole shrimp similar to a shrimp edify but with a tomato based sauce well you already know you about to see that cause we about to do that right here right now it's from creole kitty's kitchen taste this church let's go [Music] okay people so what we have here a few simple ingredients we got a small onion i got right here chopped up we got a green pepper bell pepper chopped up i got like two uh two stalks of uh celery just chopped up got three tablespoons of butter right here about four cloves of garlic minced up and a little seasoning blend right here and i just put it all together and what what what's here basically we got we got a tablespoon of paprika uh two teaspoons of dried thyme two teaspoons of dried oregano one teaspoon of cayenne pepper and that is about it and uh so what we're going to do now is i just want to show you some of the ingredients that we uh put into the dish got a couple more that i'll introduce as we move along but uh let's move over to the cast iron skillet and start to get busy people let go all right so in this large cast iron skillet we uh put our three tablespoons of butter in here we're gonna let the butter melt [Music] then to that we're going to add our onions [Music] peppers [Music] and our celery and we're going to let this go for about five minutes until everything is nice and soft salted and uh you know have a little fun with it stir it around okay so add a little salt and pepper to the mix you can do it to your liking so we might add a little bit more later so i'm just adding maybe about a teaspoon or so fresh cracked black okay next we're going to add our we're going to add our garlic to the mix and then our seasoning blend we're gonna generously add that in there and we're gonna let that go another one two minutes just until it gets fragrant nice and fragrant people i can smell it already okay people and also if i fail to mention we're doing this on a medium heat right so about one to two minutes later it's smelling great already we're about to pour a cup and a half of uh low should i say the first low sodium chicken broth again that's about a cup and a half of low sodium chicken broth to the mix and we're gonna add three bay leaves that's another ingredient that was laying i forgot to tell y'all in the beginning but yeah we're gonna put two three bay leaves in that thing and uh we're gonna let that thing actually we're gonna bring it to a boil first we're gonna turn it up to about a medium high bring it to a boil okay now it's boiling we're gonna reduce it to a low and we're gonna let this thing simmer until it reduces by about 1 4 which takes about maybe six to eight minutes all right next we're going to take a 15 ounce can of whole tomatoes crushed we're going to add that to the mix just like that and uh we're going to give it a little stir and we're going to let that cook for another 10 minutes until it reduces by about half and keep you can let those uh bay leaves just float on the top it's going to add tremendous flavor to this thing [Music] all right next step we gonna add actually i took three uh green onions and chopped them up but i'm gonna add two to the mix and we're gonna save the third one for garnish and then we're going to take uh two tablespoons of uh worcestershire one two my favorite lamb berries worcestershire you can uh check in the description below if you want to find that i'm gonna give it a quick stir and we're gonna turn the heat off and set aside and get to the next step people okay so on a separate skillet i got a tablespoon of oil and i'm gonna take about a tablespoon of garlic butter you can make your own garlic butter or the one i use is uh some chef shammy garlic butter you can also find that on amazon you can look in the description you'll find that down there as well so we're gonna let that melt next we're gonna uh add about a pound pound and a half of shrimp and i got them seasoned with some obey dump those babies in there gotta get a big skillet too i might have overdid it you just want them to touch the bottom and we're gonna saute these boys for about two minutes per side one one and a half two minutes per side just until they shrink down a little bit i was a little ambitious with these get you a nice big skillet to make sure all of the shrimp touched the bottom well and again what i uh season these boys with is uh obey the classic the obey you can also find that on amazon as well and it should be in the description if you want to do it like we did and don't taste this kenny's kitchen again let you go about one and a half two minutes per side this my friends is the flip and of course you want to have these uh shrimp clean deveined and uh peeled you we want to keep the tail on i mean you can do a tail on the tail off but for more flavor we want to keep the tails on these babies you know what i'm saying next we're going to add this back to the mix to the creole mix like so now let's get to the plate y'all let
