welcome back to the channel we're going to be making a Soulful type of like trap beat today so as always I'm going to go over the music theory with the chord progression that I create I'm going to show you how you can utilize suspended chords to really get like that emotional sound let's go I'm not going to lie I did have a big cup of coffee before recording this and I haven't got a workout in I decided to do the video first so I definitely got a whole bunch of energy right now that I usually burn off with like a good workout but let's bring this BPM up I'm going to be around like 155 to 170 but we'll start at 155 just to get the core progression down I got two different pianos open one is keyscape right here softest preset I already forgot how to say it someone dropped a comment and helped me out last time and then that's just running into a little bit of EQ cutting out some lows and then a pretty big Reverb like a 3 and 1/2 second DEC time so let's choose a scale let's go right up here I think I actually want to start off on B it's a really nice scale so let's go ahead and throw this to B minor so since we're in B minor I want to build out my first chord on the one of the scale which is going to be B so right here we're going to place a note Skip One in the scale Place Skip One in the scale place this is going to give us the B Minor triad chord we know that because there's two spaces here three spaces here you can also do the 0er 1 2 3 1 2 3 4 and then we know that a zero 3 and four is going to be minor or if you're in FL and you have scale highlighting you could just do two spaces of notes and then three spaces of notes so we have the basic B minor Triad chord we're going to do inversions and add the root notes lower later on all that cool stuff but let's just start off with real simple Triads cuz I'm going to show you how you could utilize suspended chords to kind of get cool transition chords so let's drag this over here probably go out to about here and then we're going to utilize two chords right here so let's go over here drop down to a a is actually the seventh note in this scale cuz if you count out from B being the one 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 a right here it's just an octave lower so Tech technically we're doing a 17 chord progression so we're going to skip a note right here Place skip a note right here place and we have the a major Triad this one has three spaces and two spaces where the minor has two spaces three spaces so now we're going from the B Minor triad to a a major Triad which sounds like this super simple right the next thing I want to do is build a suspended four chord so I'm actually going to take this a bring it over here I'm going to take this middle note right here and go up one note right here now we have an a suspended four chord you can also go right here to the stamp tool and suspended four right here place it on a and you'll see we have that suspended four chord so this is going to sound really nice as like a transition chord let's hear what this sounds like and you can hear that that wants to resolve to something lower so we're going to drop down one more note right here and we're going to hit a G major Triad just like this three spaces two spaces and we have a Triad let's bring this out over here and listen to what this sounds like so we're going to take this over here and we're going to shorten this something like that and now I want to utilize a suspended two chord for this so for the suspended two chord let's duplicate this chord and I'm actually going to take this B and bring it down one note in the scale so we were here now drop down to here and we have the G suspended two cord and to check that we can go back to stamp suspended 2 drop it on G there we go so now we have the G major repeating G major to a suspended two chord and then back into the B Minor triad let's he what this sounds [Music] like but check this out out now what we're going to do is take these root notes and we're going to drop them down an octave but we can also take this whole chord progression and go down an octave so this is going to give us a lot more emotion and depth to this so control down arrow like [Music] that now let's get into adding some inversions adding different types of top notes to it and getting this to sound even more realistic kind of Shifty notes over all right so over here I have the inversions that I chose to use and then I mess around with some of the velocities but let me show you what I did so here's the original right here all I did was take some of the notes and bring them up so if we look at the first chord we have here the structure kind of stays the same except this B3 right here gets brought up to B4 the D4 gets brought up to D5 and then I kept another B right here on B3 then we jump into the second and third chord the only things that change is that c sh 4 and D4 they get brought up an octave so control up Arrow then we jump into the fourth chord right here and as you can see these are staying the same but this b gets brought up to B4 there these notes stay the same all good and then I added in another G right here and that's just this G3 brought up to G4 and then for these last two chords over here same thing took these middle notes right here so B3 and A3 control up Arrow there let's play back to back you're going to see how much more emotion this one has to and how it sounds a little bit more advanced let's hear [Music] it so we're going to duplicate this and I'm going to play a melody on top of [Music] this and let's also add an octave of this so shift and then control up Arrow bring this over a little bit bring the velocity down this will add more emotion to it fire [Music] that's kind of fire hold on then have three FPS hit but the A7 goes nicely to that let's see what this sounds like randomize [Music] these let's add a vocal to this all right so for the vocal we're going to go into my doomed multi-kit and inside of this kit all the accents Melody mides phrases and vocals are 100% royaltyfree so let's go to this vocal section I'm going to play the melody these are going to be out of key we obviously have to bring them into key but I'm going to just try to find certain notes and like vocals that sound good and then we'll get it in key after you kind of got to get used to hearing them at a key and then obviously when you pitch them to the key it will sound better so this is dshp which is right here we are in B minor so we got to go down 1 2 3 4 to B so we put it in stretch Drop it Down by four and now watch what this sounds [Music] like I don't want this part right here so let's cut this out just real quick let's get a pretty big Reverb on it then let's get a delay on it so we'll just do fruity delay 3 go with this conclusion vocal and we got to go from a up a sharp to B so up by [Music] two next thing I want to do is get a base on this so we can go with the synth base from over here uh this one actually sounds pretty cool I just want o this Eclipse one is probably going to sound really [Music] good that's clean [Music] ooh I like that key it's very aggressive and then just kind of leave that section open right [Music] there yep let's go ahead and split my channel oo so much emotion on [Music] that all right then I added in some strings real quick so I opened up analog Labs I went into my eternal analog lab bank and got strings one right here then for the effects I put some portal on it it's just the digital tape toys and the mix is brought down like really low then we have a really big Reverb on it and some EQ and I just chose a few notes to layer with [Music] [Music] [Music] this [Music] something about this snare just or this Rim my bad just sounds [Music] clean there's so many ways we could go with [Music] this start with that let's cut this [Music] out oh I like [Music] that that's [Music] smooth something simple like [Music] that just real easy like nothing too crazy smooth just like [Music] that yep I actually have two different 808s going one's a little bit softer it's going to be played like after kind of as like a transition note and then we have the kick all three of these are from the doomed multi-kit right here so this first one is called daylight then we have alarms and the kick is the Panic kick but let's go ahead and hear so we have like the kick pattern right here I'm still working on it but then we have the two different 808s this is the first one and then the second one is going to be like little one that's in between that kind of gives it like a transition [Music] so I'm thinking we could do like another one of these transition [Music] ones something like that that double 808 bro is just too crazy [Music] that's [Music] clean [Music] oh yeah that's it what if we had this 8 come in there [Music] that's clean hold on so this is cool to me I like how this sounds maybe I'll pitch it maybe I won't but as a full beat I really like this so we're going to hear it again from the beginning this Full Beat will be on my Spotify by the time this video drops so there'll be a link in the description and in the pinned comment when it's all done you'll hear it at the end as well so make sure to go stream it over there but let's just hear it one more time before we get out of [Music] here show the 8way some [Music] love yeah I like that a lot that sounds crazy so this is how I make like Smooth Soulful type of trap beats if you're interested in any of my kits especially the doomed multi-kit which is 100% royaltyfree there'll be a link to that in the description as always thank you guys so much for watching your support on the channel really does mean a lot till the next video [Music] peace [Music] [Music] yeah [Music] yeah [Music]
