and we're gonna do polka that's gonna blow your mind oh my hey guy you've asked for it so finally doing it I'm here with Stephanie today and we're gonna make her famous sugar cookies Judy sugar cookies have any know there's steps cookies yeah that's just what we call it they're stuck with a better name you win either comment below what should we name Steph's cookies because they're Jesus cookies so she's gonna show us what goes into her cookies and how she makes them and rolls them out and then you're gonna watch how she decorates them and we're gonna see if I can decorate them I figure if I can I eat nails and do decals or do all different designs on now then I can decorate a cookie right okay so what's in these cookies so these cookies we just have the typical like flour sugar salt baking powder vanilla eggs and butter I would say if you have a favorite family recipe use that and then you can just watch our decorating part but this is one of my very favorite sugar cookie recipes for decorating so you can definitely have my if you like I've seen her cookbooks I know how many sugar cookie recipes she has favorite it's all done today's like three seconds long and it took her to make that that's genius no wonder we want her recipe my favorite your supplies which I'm her supplies we will go into more detail on this and we actually decorate but holy cow okay silicon rolling pin silicon rolling pin and a silicon mat and flour you guys I have never seen this Wow this is not all of them okay we might need to do an intervention here okay it has its own drawer she has a favorite one you don't like the metal ones how come you don't like metal it's just Halloween and Christmas there okay this is impressive seems like we're gonna need to take a poll amongst the viewers of boss or KitchenAid oh it seems to be one of those things people are very passionate about I just have the KitchenAid case she's playing games with the stone now I'm so confused because the first batch tend to stick a little more Wow this rolls out pretty easy just more time oh here yes here is your favorite well yeah this parts easy okay you guys she has tasked me with cutting these out now I told you guys I'm a little bit picky you have to utilize all of the dough I can tell Stephanie does not do that she just throws it she's getting a little picky but it's like loading a dishwasher you have to utilize every bit of space to here see this is where it stresses me out I cut out all of these and I told her really all I wanted to do is eat the dough so we might have to do that in just a minute but for now we got to get the pans to put the cookies on she because I feel bad for stuff she doesn't have very many okay I need these where did you buy these from we should probably just go shopping there together because I've never been there I've heard it's incredible Wow you guys this is a real production now it's time to put these beauties on the pan wait you're doing two at a time what if they get ruined maybe they'll be fine look how many cookies you got out of that small piece of cookie dough right there see I really utilized all the space oh you're putting those clothes you don't spread a lot which is another recipe that could grow some of the recipes they like grow it's like those little Animas that grow in water okay it's time to cook these little babies stephanie has the dual oven you guys I am a little bit jealous right now [Music] a few minutes later timer is done it is time do you know a trick that stuff tell everyone why you use parchment paper well that is okay that still wasn't the reason I was looking for one more because the bottom of your cookies aren't brown so what I gonna be fragile be careful with them when they're continuing to cook a little bit here while they come out so you kind of undercut them yeah so they're pretty solid I mean like they're not I do like them to be soft so they taste better but honestly they're not gonna fall apart if you're careful they're done the cookies are all made and I really want to eat one so I might try one without frosting cuz I've never done that before but now we are going to make it frosting we're going to make the frosting right now but we're gonna get together tonight when the kids are asleep because you can't frost cookies with kids awake it's gonna be a lot to teach me it'll be fun but we just need segments so we'll be back with my look a little more tired all the things to do today we might be in particular case oh whatever it is you know several hours pass by only two two bags of card sugar and these are the two pound bags two bags so like four pounds and then I do 3/4 and cup of meringue powder and then I do one and a half cups of water and I add two tablespoons of vanilla [Music] all right Steph is gonna show us how she keeps this frosting nice and moist because this this um frosting that she's using is made for it's like a well I see Stephanie tonight to decorate these lovely cookies later that same evening okay guys we are back at it the kids are all asleep and we are gonna decorate some cookies so Steph showed us earlier her whole ordeal of how she makes them and her frosting so we're gonna start with the frosting we save this frosty and it stayed really good okay so when you make royal icing it's super thick and you have to thin it down to different consistencies depending on what you want to do so a lot of the time you mean probably at least two different kinds will probably just work with two different kinds today so we'll do what is called piping which is the outside of the edge of the cookie sorting hearts and then we have what's called silk which is going to be pretty runny so I would say the piping needs to be pretty solid like a well it's about the consistency of toothpaste and then the fill I think has to be about the consistency of shampoo is what I'm told we're gonna start mixing some now okay so we'll start with this is almost good enough to be a piping and a lot of times I do just mix it to be a piping and then just thin it down from there I would say it just needs to be a little less tip because it is constant okay so a lot of the time if you just add water from like the faucet you're gonna I weigh too much so one trick that I read somewhere was to just use a spray bottle and then you're adding just a little bit at a time probably getting the perfect consistency because once you know what you're running it's too late so you really have to be careful I would say like I said about a toothpaste consistency would be a good consistency for filling one that I've read on another cookie makers blog once was instead of um getting all of your icing bags messy and then having to clean them and all that stuff nobody likes to fill an icing bag that's just like msk the spoon and it gets all messy so here is the saran wrap trick we're not going to use all of this we're gonna make some of them to fill icing in case you get that right in the middle of your plastic wrap go corner to corner and roll it up and then twist it and then you're just gonna slip this right down into your icing bag and then cut it at the end so that is your own to keep things really clean okay that's really easy okay so then we're gonna make some fill icing which again needs to be pretty not super runny but runny enough to where it will fall and flatten completely so about like shampoo so let's try that and see if that works I want to try a little at a time you don't want to get it too runny it's hard to work backwards once you've gotten it too runny I would say that different needs more runny consistency see how it just kind of falls right off the spoon when it's like this though it's gonna get air bubbles and that's just from stirring a lot of the times I let it sit for a couple minutes while you work on your next color but if you notice you're you start to get air bubbles you want to get rid of all of those it so once it's at the flood consistency I call it fill before but it's wood so I think you'll want to pour into your little bottle here so now that we have made the first one she is going to make several different colors well two different colors pink around for Valentine's Day we're gonna show you how she does all of those she's made all of the frosting Valentine's colors there's a few and pretty yes you guys need to go side no while she was flipping this one it a part of it ripped off and flipped her in the face I watched everybody she totally acted like it didn't happen okay so now we have them all made which the typical person would just buy these from the grocery store and like packages of one or two stephanie has them in bulk these are awesome this is like Brandi Wow you have your own cookie she has her own cookie scissors and rubber bands look at all of this okay these are like what are these guys so we have the couplers with their little bear things I don't know what they are screwing and then we need the tips yes - Wow yeah can you imagine like if I had to put frosting in this oh gosh no hustle like squeezes out the end like back here it just yeah oh look those are cool events these are all great products that you can find a store so again piping icing fill icing or flood now we're gonna get the cookies out lay down on a cookie sheet I'm convinced if I can paint little teeny tiny things on nails I can do this you can do this I couldn't do this I've tried before and this was a couple of years ago I tried if Stephanie made me b-y-u cookies if you guys live here locally that like BYU and University of Utah are like extreme rivals and so she made me BYU cookies and I was like I'm gonna show her I'm gonna make University of Utah cookies I have never felt so bad in my life they were as crappy as what I'm gonna teach Mandi at least just like a basic piping and fill okay so we're going the outside of this cookie I do not have a steady hand case anyway usually I like these tiny little baby spoons probably she cuz I always had him at my house and then I kind of got into like sticking with them even though my kids it's not anymore then you spread it around right up to the edge obviously you're making a wall for the cookie and then you're filling it up if you happen to have any bubbles left I always have to fix nearby I don't have any though maybe one little one you can just do that to make sure that it looks good so that is like a basic piping I felt do you think I can do it yes video editing yep so ice was gonna say the ends always tend to get hurt really fast so you just want to kind of wipe it off start to get a new this Williams tendrán yeah do it feels weird these do squeeze at the top or the bottom top yeah [Music] whoa who's kind of nervous guys I'm kind of sweating right now and then I use my baby spoon a lot of cookie makers have like used toothpicks or something but I'm like feeling really uncomfortable right now you are faster at doing this I hope so Mindy can't have all the talents can she please leave some I will leave yes I will have the talent of eating them I think in that little corner great so yeah you want to get it all the way up to the fill line and it will blend with it which is kind of nice then it'll look really nice okay and if you see and so as you can see it's just gonna fun as it gets you guys you can tell that that's a big giant dent in there and then if you have any bubbles you can pop them look I went a little high right there but that's okay that's okay that's what practice is for yes because I did it my first hard sometimes when I have extra frosting I make my own little decals instead of wasting my frosting you guys might notice these these are what I put I literally rated Stephanie's house when she was out of town for these little frostings for hay zis cake pops for a birthday last year while the frosting is still wet one of the easiest designs and it'll look like you took a long time because of these little decals but don't tell anyone they were pre-made by me or the store if you want to you can do oh my gosh those are so gonna make a little design with your yeah oh my my mute and it's done those are very cute yes [Music] short of having like a lopsided top right there right here it actually looks pretty good I'm kind of surprised and it did level out that little divot is gone [Music] okay so Steph frosted her six i frosted mine I probably should have gone to the edge a little bit more but I don't think it's bad for my first time okay so now we have a fun design we're going to do with these but we needs but talk to me a little more hard so a lot of times when you're layering and you're gonna do something on top you really need them to dry fast if you can put them under a fan which we're gonna do and then work on other stuff in the meantime perfect so here's another fun technique I like to use for Valentine's Day I will show you out and then maybe you can try it we're gonna do a typical yeah this one you kind of need to work quickly for what we're doing because you don't want it to pardon seed your one solid color there then what I'm gonna do is I switch the tip of my flood icing to just something a little thinner and we're gonna do polka dots you'll see it's gonna blow your mind oh boy well are you ready for this I'm ready start right here oh my cute they're like so in love okay all right you guys this is so cute love it I don't think I can do that you can do it okay show you try it all right Mindy's gonna try okay we're just gonna call that that's okay let's try again that's why we make so many cookies okay so get let's just pick and you want it to be a clean one and you're gonna want them to do it all in one swoop okay okay going straight down the middle of each one go a little deeper okay you did it yeah that looks awesome so we're gonna do another fun little design now it's kind of fun to do it's random even though the color is fun you could do big ones little ones there's really no one thing to think about is that this is cute you can leave it like that or if you wanted to make up each individual hearts you could do that oh that's cute the only thing if you do that you have to clean out your toothpicks between every oh that's a lot of work polka-dots are fun those kind of hearts are fun we did these roses those are fun ideas I have one more idea when those drawings other than that Mindy I think you should practice some of these was like different color combinations let's do it Stephanie showed me all the cool things to do I just did them all and I'm actually really impressed okay so I know you're having a hard time going which one's Mindy Shrey which one's Stephanie's okay these ones are clearly mine whatever they're both missing so this is Stephanie she just did a couple of different variations of things we kind of just played her out we just kind of did different stuff like this one I wanted to try and make them look like roses it doesn't your anyway just try like the double layer it's just so fun the possibilities are endless and now she's gonna teach me a different technique where like the frosting is hardened and now we're gonna try something different okay these were definitely my first cookies these I'm not as pretty so I like this design I mean there's really no wrong way to do it it's just like kind of a fun whatever you want to do you know just kind of have fun no I don't think so as you can see the base layer is hardened enough to put on your piping and you can just kind of mix it up with your colors try it out mini okay here goes nothing okay so like this is harder I'm definitely not the easiest for me the hearts were not our favorite never hard try something else that works a little better with four colors but we have three so come in we're gonna do a fun little light flag type of thing so if you do like to like really close together it works better when your tips are super super clean so if you're trying to problems it's probably because your chips are dirty I'm gonna blame it on the tips yes this is turning out at you well she's going a different direction folks he'll just go this time so those are really cute that is very cute right okay I think I can do that a straight line [Music] okay I like that one I tried a few different ones I love this one the most that was just a total fail same with that one and same with that one but I loved the pod ones those are my favorites okay guys we are done I always put mine under fan because I think it helps also so you can have cookies for breakfast okay let's do it I've spent the day with staff baking cookies and frosting them and it
