[Music] hi welcome to Crisco for you to here just to bring you one more item for your Thanksgiving table this is going to be the last one I know that I just bought you that fantastic pumpkin cheesecake but here I'm gonna do something that's very simple and I think that if you try it you're truly going to enjoy it we're gonna do egg custard today so that's a real simple dessert very easy by now I know that all of the major cooking is done your greens is probably already made your past this major cakes is made so now it should be just a cakewalk for those of you who are having you know born just that extra mile to make those chitlins chitterlings all of that stuff is already done so now it's just simple items that you need to do and things that you can do today up now we're only a couple of days from Thanksgiving so this pie is real real easy and it will be the perfect dessert to put down on your Thanksgiving table so let's get started for this egg custard you're going to me flour sugar you're going to me for eggs I have three here and I have the egg and the the whites sitting here because I want to show you something gonna need vanilla extract nutmeg allspice cinnamon and you're gonna need a mixture of milks we're gonna use carnation milk as well as whole milk so I'm gonna show you real quick what why I have these eggs here first of all you're going to the pack calls for four eggs but we're going to use just a little of this because I don't believe in throwing away nothing so you're gonna take the egg York white and you're going to just beat it till the phones a little bit [Music] [Music] and this is what you to crust up that pie and keep it that way so you're gonna bake it on a baking sheet the next thing that you're gonna do is you're gonna take your pie shell and before I show you this if you're making a pie that has a lot of liquid you're going to and you have like a crack in the bottom of your pass shell what you want to do and I didn't use homemade pass shells if that's what you want to do then go ahead on what you want to do is you want to put a little bit of water on your finger and you want to mash that back together and the reason for that is because you don't want your pad to be seeping out in the bottom of the pan that makes it very hard for you to cut you also don't want to prick your pie in the bottom because if you prick it then the filling that's on the inside of the pass shell is going to trickle down into between the pass shell and whatever dish you have it in and that's gonna make it stick as well so those are two things you don't want to do but if you take the foam see the foam part of the yolk or the egg and you rub it all over your Paschal this should be a cold pass shell when you get ready to use it if you rub it all over the bottom of your past shell now you won't taste this your past will not taste any different than they already do but if you rub this all over the bottom and you sit this inside of your freezer for 15 minutes that's how long it's going to you to put the feeling together so you stick this inside of your freezer for 15 minutes when you take it out then you can go ahead and put your pie filling over inside of the pie shell put it on in the baking sheet put it in the oven wheel to cook this pie at 350 degrees for roughly 50 to 60 minutes put it put your filling outside of the pie shell put it in the oven when you take it out your crust is going to be just like you want it to be it will not be soggy even after the later on doing say tonight you decide to go back and get a piece of pie the pie will be not who will not be soggy now you do that when it's a liquidy pot you don't have to do that before your pumpkin pie you don't have to do that for your sweet potato pie or your apple pie you don't have to do that but you will do it for those paths so what I'm gonna do I'm gonna go together getting go away get my ingredients all measured up and I'll be right back to show you how to put together this very simple easy and yet quick pack okay you're gonna start by mixing your eggs and the trick with mixing these exist in order to get your pack real crust real custardy and you don't want this pad to be a scrambled egg pie you're going to need to beat your eggs very well so that requires two and a half to three minutes of straight beating on the eggs you want to do with that long and that'll make your pack custardy and it will not make it like scrambled eggs so I'm gonna start to beat this and then I'm gonna boil away and it pretty snow surface minutes so what I'm going to do is once I get this all chewed up I'll bring your bag right out for three minutes okay now I'm back and I just want to show you the egg that should custard right there okay see how custody that actually looks and I have not added anything but this is at the end of about two and a half to three minutes and my ingredients courses always impose your injury at the is blended up well I'm gonna go ahead and my past shell has frozen a little bit so I've just protected in my past shell so I'm gonna go ahead and put as much of this in as I can and as you can see I have it down on the baking sheet okay so this looks like I have enough for another path someone put in another path now at 50 minutes I do want to say this you want to start checking because all stoves are not the same I don't want you to burn your pot and it can burn between 60 minutes I'm sorry between 50 minutes and 60 minutes so at 50 minutes start checking your pie so you can make certain that you can get your pie out of the oven before it burns because you don't want to use all of these ingredients and then ended up ends up that you mess them up or you burn them up so I'm gonna go away put this in the pot in the oven and you'll see me right back at my stove when it comes out in about between 50 minutes to 60 minutes be right back okay I'm back and the pie is done I have to in the oven there it is and there it is one I get on the rack on one I did not being on the rack so what I'm going to do is I'm going to mount these cool I'll bring you back and cut a slice and show you exactly what it actually looks like so I'm going to let these cool or not be okay now we're back and I'm just gonna go ahead and cut one of these pies just so you can see make certain that I cut through the crust on both sides so it'll be easier to lift out okay okay there you go okay Chris is making egg custard okay this is just one more item to put down on your Thanksgiving table
