camping is fun but is there a way to make it easier yeah when it comes to pop-up campers there are some different things you could do to make setup easier to make life easier to make cleanup easier and most importantly to just have a lot more fun i would like all of those [Music] things [Music] so we love camping and i have to say i'm a pretty experienced camper i mean i was a boy scout when i was a kid i spent most of my childhood and teenage years camping bull and all of it was boondocking and even rachel is a pretty experienced camper i mean she did go camping with you know me and the boys when they were little but my roughing it days are over the boys are grown now and i am ready to do things the easy way i don't want to spend a ton of money but i do want to focus and invest like whatever money that we have into making the vacation the way it's meant to be yeah so recently we bought a pop-up camper and we made some improvements some changes made a couple of purchases and today's video we're going to show you what we consider to be the 10 best hacks or improvements that you could make to your pop-up camper to make setup easier tear down easier and just life easier in general so hack number one is reflectix it gets very hot here in florida and we do have an air conditioning system but we want to try to insulate ourselves as much as possible so this is just some home insulation you can get it at lowe's and cut it to fit the window canvas and that way it will keep it nice and dark and reflect the sun you can also get it on amazon and i will leave a link for it down below and it actually does two things it reflects the sun out and it insulates inside because we are in a tent after all here's a shot of what the reflectance looks like from the outside so it actually doesn't look too bad it's just a silver thing it also gives you a little bit of privacy number two ditch the refrigerator that came inside you lose a lot of storage area in here and the one that actually was in here was simply a dorm refrigerator which didn't get anything gold so we opted to get an angle cooler this is the angle deep 50 it'll keep the ice for about 10 days and it fits perfectly in that hole hack number three add in some 12 volt usb chargers make sure you get the 12 volt version i'll leave a link for it down below don't get the regular 120 version because when you have the 12 volt version if you decide you're going to boom dock you'll be able to still run these off of battery but if you get the 120 version you won't have any usb if you're not plugged into electricity so hack number four or you can actually call this just an improvement is put some kind of a reflective covering over your bunk end now this is from a company called pop-up gizmos and these are actually made directly for this camper and this is their best option this is the high wind because they have these bungee cords that are sewn in that wrap all the way around now if you don't want to use pop-up gizmos or don't want to spend the money these were about 160 dollars for the set uh you could get some like emergency blankets and put them over the top but we found they were a little bit too small for our camper hack number five is get all of the cooking outside i didn't want any smells or cooking going on inside of the camper so we went ahead and got the 17 inch black stone we'll leave a link for it down below and joe just made a table that connects to the pop-up camper and that way we can keep the cooking outside now this blackstone actually you can get an adapter that allows you to plug it directly into your port for your front tanks and i will leave a link for that adapter down below so to go along with hack number or improvement number five is a table for the outside now what we did here was we bought the bracket that you would usually use for you know hanging outside grill we bought the bracket on amazon i'll leave a link for it down below we put one half on the camper the other half on the back of this butcher block added a couple of like little folding shelf brackets and that allows us to just put this on here the shelf brackets support it against the camper and that will support the weight of our blackstone to go along with getting the cooking outside our number seven hack is get the dishwashing going outside we got this very simple fish cleaning table at bass pro shop it's got a faucet with warning water we hook it right up to the hose and we have a gray water tank down here that it feeds into and it's just great for getting all the dishwashing going on outside so number eight is going to be a combination of a bunch of different things but it's all with regards to your water hookup so the first thing you want to do is make sure you get a water filter the water that's coming out of this faucet is super nasty along with that make sure you have a pressure regulator to make sure that you're not getting too much pressure into your camper then we have a splitter one of these is actually going to the camper and the other one is going to number nine which we'll show you in a minute and then finally along with that get one of these little elbows because this way you're not putting as much pressure onto your water hose and also it's a lot easier to use these than use this to get your hose off last part of number eight and i think this one is awesome and we're going to have to give credit to five to go i'm gonna leave a link for their channel right up here and that is get this zero g flexible hose very difficult to find but if you can find it this thing is awesome when you turn off the water pressure it collapses to nothing but this is a drinking safe water hose and it is awesome so we are pretty snobby about having good tasting drinking water so number nine is our portable berkey now we do have a filter on the water that's coming from the campsite but i like to go ahead and put it down in here so that i can have really tasty water really tasty ice and of course most importantly really tasty coffee so number 10 and honestly this to me is the best hack we've made to our camper and it consists of two things first one getting these leveling blocks but you're going to see we're not using them for leveling blocks we're using them for the stabilizer feet so that the feet don't sink down into the sand we also put one under the tongue jack so that the wheels don't sink down and they don't roll around but honestly for number 10 the best purchase that you could make for your pop-up camper is the val or ball b-a-l i'm afraid to say ball because rachel's gonna say something balls this is a tire leveler and what it does is you simply slide the whole thing around the wheel and then you use this ratchet which comes with it and it just lifts your camper up and you don't have to deal with the leveling blocks of like put them on put it off drive forward am i level enough you just simply keep doing this and raise it or lower it and we almost forgot about this one so this is a bonus number 11 and that is a gutter system for your air conditioner condensation so normally what happens is the air conditioner which is up there on the roof the dripping comes off it hits the roof and it would normally roll down over the tent section but then that water just starts rolling on there rolling down the windows rolling down the corner so we purchase one ten foot pipe we cut it and then we have five feet here in the back and then we have five feet in the front and it's simply just propped up underneath the lip of the top and the tent and then it extends out about 18 inches two feet this way the water rolls off away from the tent and we only have it on one side and what we do is we make the camper slightly off level and i mean just slightly just enough so that the water will roll towards this side and this way we can control where it drips and it's not going by our front door so that is the bonus number 11 and i highly highly highly suggest everybody who has a pop-up camper does this so there you go 10 hacks or improvements that you can make to your pop-up camper to just make life easier
