[Applause] there are two things that have to happen right now [Music] and get all the salty water out of it before i can hang it up [Music] i have no idea if this is gonna work but i have an event and i really need that shirt so so for future reference that absolutely does not work [Music] i want to show you the things that i look for that make a room wheelchair friendly maybe you want to invite someone over that's in a wheelchair and you're not sure is your house completely wheelchair accessible and especially when i book accommodation i just look for these few things and i can usually see it from just looking at the photos on the website so i'm going to show you a few things just to look out for a few basic things to see if a room is wheelchair friendly so the very first thing i would look at when booking accommodation is the bathroom just because it is such a personal space and preferably you do not want to get help when going to the bathroom so we have the sink over here i've got the shower on this side and the toilet on that side so if we look at this toilet you'll see that it's it's not ideal it is extremely tight there's no space for the wheelchair to come in next to me i had to do a transfer facing the toilet which is a lot more challenging and there's no you know room to hold onto you can't pull on these things you'll pull it right off the wall and i also can't close the door luckily i stay alone in this room but if i look at this toilet this is definitely not ideal i can make it work but it's not ideal [Music] so this shower is almost perfect let me explain so i can move in and out of this shower very comfortably it also has a hand nozzle but the only problem is it doesn't have a chair usually an outside chair does the trick problem solved [Music] most beds in hotels are quite high if you look at this one it is substantially higher than what my wheelchair is which makes transferring to the bed a bit tricky so when i transfer to the bed i literally have to transfer to a higher position so it does take a bit more upper body strength just to get on top of the bed uh might not be so easy for for everyone the other thing about high beds is it makes getting dressed quite interesting because your feet don't touch the ground and then pulling up your pants can be quite tricky i prefer to get dressed on a chair then because my feet are firmly planted on the ground and i can just lean from side to side and pull up my pants which is a lot easier to me than sitting on a bed where my feet don't touch the ground there is also enough space in the room to freely move around with a wheelchair so with your robots in here so many activities if there are tables and and couches and you know all sorts of stuff in the room and that makes it crowded it really does make it challenging to maneuver around in a wheelchair stays the biggest enemy of most wheelchair users a step as small as this one shouldn't be a problem but where it does get tricky is if you have two or more stairs then you do need help getting up for most wheelchair users and then lastly carpets if it's possible roll up the carpets because these things always get caught up in your wheels they get all up in your grill the coppers that are fixed to the floor permanently that is okay you can live with that but if it's possible to roll up the carpet like this one please do that because it just makes it so much easier so these are the kind of things that you can look out for when booking accommodation or visiting friends and you're not sure if it is wheelchair friendly so thanks again for watching and i'll see you guys in a few days time it wasn't recording ah and here we go again [Music] [Music] tell me show me
