okay so now we're ready to transfer our character into the animation that we're going to create so the first thing we need to do is actually create that animation and so we're just going to go into file new and i'm not sure if you'll be able to see this based on the way that this is recording but i'm going to in my template i'm going to go ahead and choose 1920 by 1080 which is the full hd 1080p preset and i'm going to leave everything the same and click ok now we have our screen here let me decrease this a little bit more so we can see it and the first thing i'm going to do is create the template for our first frame so i'm going to create a new group rename that group frame one right inside frame one i want a couple of different layers i'm going to want a layer called sky another layer called hill another one called cloud i'm going to be duplicating this cloud layer three times but for right now you only need one cloud and a character layer our character layer we're going to add in later first let's build our design so sky i'm going to click on sky and choose my paint bucket tool let me see if i can move this up a little bit i can and let's change this black hold on a little picture here is getting in the way to any sort of blue for our sky so let's just come over here a nice light blue and click ok all right don't do what i did right make sure you click on foreground color fill and we're going to do that now we're going to work on our hill our hill we're just going to need our paint brush tool and i'm going a little bit of the smooth stroke going on so that when i draw it it looks a little bit better than without any of that smooth stroke right you don't want a little bit jitteriness the hand shake our hands shake naturally you want to kind of get rid of that as much as you can um let's go into our paint bucket tool i don't want you guys using a preset pattern for this but create your own right but for what i'm going to show you right now i'm going to use a preset pattern circle as fast faster so we're going to go by fill by line art detection and only our active layer because i'm going to go ahead and paint it in right there right this happened because our maximum gap length was too big so i'm just going to go ahead and fill that in now moving on to our cloud layer once again make sure you click on cloud i'm going to go paintbrush and i'm going to draw a very loose interpretation of a cloud there you go once again paint bucket tool fill by line art detection source active layer but we're going to change this to our background color which is currently set to white there we go and now i'm going to get my pencil tool and just kind of quickly give it some a little better than that right i can do a better job here we go a little bit of accents just so there's some depth going on for this cloud even though i'm using my mouse tool and my hand on my laptop so it doesn't it's not going to look great but let's pretend that we're happy with this um i'm going to click over here ctrl click and duplicate that layer and do it one more time duplicate this layer this first layer let's resize it so click on your resize tool which is your scale tool and bring it down press enter and do the same thing to that second version make it a medium-sized cloud and press enter and now we have three different types of clouds right so let's get our move tool so we can move cloud copy number one which turns out to be this little small guy let's move down here and automatically name this cloud bottom this one let's move as well let's move it up here actually not up here and let's call this cloud top and this one let's just we're gonna we're gonna call this one cloud middle so i just want it in the middle there you go so cloud middle and we're just going to center that a tiny bit more there we go so now we have our three clouds and this is ready to go our frame one all we need to do is copy visible our teacup into our animation character layer right so here we go let's edit copy visible which is just shift ctrl c and go into our animation layer character command v which is paste it's actually still too big but it's okay we'll make it work right um and we're going to scale it down click here press enter i'm actually going to rescale it on our original image as well next time that i go to move some things around but for right now i'll just leave it just like this and right there so our feet position makes sense right and press enter and anchor it down to anchor it down right you can see the look floating selection pasted layer you have to anchor that down so click on your rectangle tool anywhere and it'll anchor that down for you so our first frame is done so what we're going to do is we're going to click here control click or right click if you're on a pc and duplicate that layer and we're automatically going to call that frame 2 all right in frame two first thing we're going to do is delete our character all right so i come over here all right and just press delete on my mac it's not working on your pc it will there you can just cut that out all right on a mac i can just delete that layer and let's add a new layer we're going to call it character and now we're going to come back over here remember how i told you well first thing i'm going to do is zoom in because i can't see anything all right and let's continue to resize this because it's still too big over there right and let's make our lives as easy as possible so let's come over here to our resize tool and i'm not going to worry about changing the canvas size again so we're just going to deal with what we have zoom in a bit more there we go and now let's rearrange some legs alright so for that get your legs folders and layers wait what however it is that you arranged your legs in there and i'm going to do my front legs first so first let's do the back and what you're looking for is this rotation right this little button that's called the rotate tool and you have to be selected on the layer that you're going to use and this little pivot point will show up as soon as you click on the screen and that's what you're going to use to move that around and press enter now click on that middle leg click on the leg move the pivot point to where the natural joint would be right for whatever it is that you're moving front leg click on the leg move the pivot point try not to make them look identical because that wouldn't be really realistic even when you're talking about a walking tea cup you still want it to be a little bit realistic right at least in terms of leg motion so middle move that pivot right there and front i like making the front leg a little bit different than the rest because then right we don't walk exactly the same in fact this is a little bit too similar so let me go ahead and change this middle one so that it's not exactly the same there that's better all right and now we're ready to paste this into our animation as frame two so file sorry edit copy visible come here to our animation and we're just gonna paste that right in to our character layer move it where it should be let's see how it looks we actually decreased it a little bit too much um so let me resize it here just by a little bit there you go and scale get our move tool back move this back into area into place i mean right anchor it down and now you'll see that it looks like he's moving if we make one layer invisible but first let's move our clouds right we want our clouds to look like they're actually moving in the background as well so i'm going to it's going to be a quick two little frame illustration that i'm going to be showing you so the clouds are just going to be moving in the background and i'll show you right now what this looks like and we are going to do a filter animation playback there we go 51 i think the frame is going to be there anyway something's happening with my however let's just press play so you can see what that looks like all right ignoring that white frame you can see that the clouds are moving and our little character is your basic animation and you would just keep going back to your character layer keep doing your edits and then once you get it to where you have the movement that you want right let's just get rid of this background layer you would be able to just duplicate these frames right so do duplicate layer and duplicate frame two and then you would move these up in order to keep adding but keep them in the same order so you still want that one two one two order even if you duplicate all right and now if you were to add in movement let's say something coming in with your character jumping over that right that's when you would go in and um change up your character right so don't forget to do that you can add a new layer to introduce like a tumbleweed coming down this hill right anything like that so that's up to you but all right good luck
