welcome to past toolbox today I'm going to cover putting a refrigerator cabinet in and boxing it in so we have two refrigerator panels one on either side right here and here and we're going to put it together on the ground and then mount it on the wall makes it a lot easier this cabinet's already mounted to the wall and my base cabinets in place let me show you how we put this together I mounted that one already because I don't want to be redundant and show you the same thing over and over we're going to do this side I have a one inch blocks that I cut out one is going to go on the top and one's going to go on the bottom and I'm just going to tack that in not right here it's going to tack in on the back side the reason is this reveal right here you have a quarter inch overhang from your style and on this side you have three quarters of an inch so maybe this an inch to make the back side match the front what I'm going to do is set this in place clamp it together pre-drill it and I always pre-drill my holes where my hinges go so I like to take the doors off and pre-drill my holes back here where you can't see them when you put the hinges back on that way we're not my screws won't be exposed take this and line it up and I use clamps for it because you want to really get these Styles nice and smooth and the faces right on I'm going to use a 3 16 drill bit and I'm going to drill right next to this hole don't get too close to that hole because that's where the original screw goes back in for the hinge I'm going to go right next to it and it'll be hidden under the plate make sure you drill that string and make sure you have this flush before you drill it all right for this I'm using two and a half inch coarse thread screws so put it right in there I like to use a torque gun because this will Hammer its way in without splitting the wood a drill tends to want to bind I get it to where it's flush I don't countersink real deep because if you ever have to pull that back out you're going to blow out that wood you want it nice and plush so good morning inside again and just screw it together now I have my blocks cut at one inch and I'll just slip it right into place and that keeps this even I'm using my 18 gauge nailer by Ryobi and I'm going to shoot inch and a quarter Nails in there foreign so when I put it together all up there it's going to keep it straight these are full overlay cabinets when it comes to full overlay cabinets you have to have some type of filler in between a short and a deep cabinet this cabin is 12 inches deep the other one is 24 so when it goes past there the panel is going to go against this not the style this style is a quarter inch the style or the next cabinet that would butt up to here is a quarter inch so if you don't have that style on this side you have to compensate for it for this door is going to rub this panel when you try to open it that's full overlay cabinets partial overlay pad that you don't have to worry about that because they have a space in between the door and the end here and you'll see when we put this up so I took a piece of scribe and I tacked it in with my pin nailer or not pin nailer with my 18 gauge now and this has 5 8 Inch Nails in it right now and that's what I shot this in with and once this is in place then the panel will go right up next to that and we'll lock it all in umbrella is going to help me pick this up we're going to set it against the wall okay Andy and I are gonna flip this up so he's going to grab this part right here and I grab the outside and stand it straight up now we can walk together put this in as one piece well opened up the box last night to get the fillers up for this and we had no fillers in there so I had to go back to the shop and grab some for today now let me show you this I took this panel and put it to the front this country goes back several inches but you want this panel to be even with the base cabinet you don't want to have this whole piece set back so what I did was block this out and the way to do that was by taking a 1 by 3 I ripped it I left one inch on one side and two inches on the other the one inch piece well it's actually an eighth inch side of that I just split it I have two inches and 7 8 inch on the back I took a 7 8 inch strip and I screwed it into this wall right here if you have a stud that way I could take my panel and put right against there and block it and I'm gonna show you that part then I took this piece once I stuck the panel up against that 7 8 inch piece I took this piece and overlapped both of them so it attaches this to this I was able to screw this piece into the wall and if you look on the other side I tacked the skin or the panel onto this if you look closely right here you'll see what I'm talking about this piece is 7 8 of an inch wide and I put it flat against this wall and I screwed it in into these studs then that other two inch piece that one by two sits on top of that I screwed it into there and it overlaps this I was able to put this panel right up against that and I tacked it in with my nail gun now I'm going to clean this all up before it's over but it's a nice line right now we'll get it straight when it's finished sometimes you have to make things work that's why I did this because this cubby was a little bit too wide and I didn't want to have fillers in the front of here if I didn't have to have that I wanted this to have a nice clean look and hug the refrigerator so I built it this way now I'm not going to address this and finish it off until I put my crown in because if I put some type of molding in here and then I put the ground on there it's not gonna it's not going to gel right I'm going to see how to address that this is really a nice clean little look I may just put a tiny bit of caulk and touch this up that's probably what I'm going to do because this is really clean I took a frame right here of two by four and put on the bottom and on the top so this is super strong you can hang off of it it screwed into the two sidewalls and the back the next thing I want to do is address this Gap right here you can see it's not screwed to the panel yet I don't want to run screws this way from here because I only have a half inch panel and I don't want the screw to come out through there so I'm going to have to screw it from that side into here now up top where the cabinet is I can run small screws right behind here if I wanted to just behind the style I could run a small screw and snug it into there because if it goes past it I still have a one and over an inch gap before I hit this cabinet and I have a half inch side on there so it's not going to go through that all right we're going to take these little short screws inch and a quarter coarse thread screws and I'm going to run them through here for this I'm going to use my Savage Pro scribe tape measure by Swanson Tool Company what I'm going to do is pull this guide up see that guy that's in there when you want to use it you pull this button up and it comes out now I can take this guide set it up against the refrigerator panel and line the center up with the middle of this style once I got it matching the other side and lock it in place I can take it and set it against the refrigerator panel and I'll mark my line now I have a perfect line in the center of this cabinet the bottom of that other cabinet is right here and I don't want to be close to that I don't want to get too close to the bottom of here and Splinter it out so I'm gonna go about inch and a half to two inches above that I'm just pre-drilling through this plywood this half inch plywood I'm not going into the other piece because I'm using a small screw and I want it to bite I'll put three three to four screws in here I can't see the other side but I'm really not worried about it I'm gonna go in here and I know I'm in the right spot when you put this in you make sure you have exactly 36 inches up top in the middle and at the bottom don't just take for granted the bottom straight this is attached to the cabinet over here but this one is not I'll take a little strip and put it along the uh bottom of the floor and what I can do is glue it in with an epoxy once this is set down and it's locked in I Mark a line it's perfect I'll clean the floor put some epoxy with a little three-quarter inch strip you don't want it any wider than this you don't want it to stick out past this and I'll just glue it right to that floor then I can tack a couple of nails on the bottom one there it's not going anywhere that's all for now I'll see you on the next project and don't forget to subscribe
