all right what's going on i got another how-to video coming here for you so in this video what i am going to do is install an outdoor sump pump back over there in the in the corner here so i live at the bottom of a hill so the hill probably goes three quarter of a mile up up that way and the ground water starts to percolate right in this area so uh currently it's the end of summer but the spring fall winter the water will fill up within this gravel here almost to the surface a couple years ago it caused the bottom of the pool liner to wrinkle up uh also you could see just got frost teeth uh with all of the the concrete here now um a major mistake you're not supposed to go more than 15 feet joint spacing uh whenever you lay concrete so the contractor who installed the concrete uh messed up because obviously it's longer 15 feet long but anyway the uh because there's so much ground water in here the ice will frost heave it in the winter time so what i want to do is install a sump pump right here and just blow the water out of here [Music] all right the first step so i'm going to just lay everything out so the sump pump is going to go inside that container there it comes with about six feet of cord i have electrical outlet inside of this um whiskey barrel that's to keep it dry um so you want to space it so that you have electricity obviously and then you also want to lay out where you want to put your under drain now if it's all gravel the underdrain is kind of pointless but the purpose of under drain is if you have soil or clay you put that down with the rock around it and that collects the water and drains it into the the tank there but i don't know what's underneath the ground here i doubt that it's uh graveled the entire way you know two and a half foot depth so i'm going to install it uh under drain regardless in there so first step lay it out and we'll go ahead and dig a hole here and get going i have the hole dug for the chamber i'm going to go ahead now and start digging the hole for the underdrain in that direction and i'll have to dig it pretty deep you can see there's there's the bottom knockout that i'm probably going to use just for maximum drainage so i'm going to have to dig down and then our foot and a half deep there so i'm going to rake it push all the shell to the side get the dirt out of there i'm just throwing the dirt behind the fence for now get that going i also purchased this flex hose so i have it ready to go i'll put that up on the screen i laid it out just because whenever it comes it's all coiled up so that way i have it ready to go whenever i'm ready to hook it up the trench is dug went from six inches down to about a foot and a half where the containment's going to be next step is to knock out this thing here so i'm gonna poke a hole with it with a drill get a little saw and cut that out and install the under drain in there pretty secure and what that's going to do then is prevent the container from floating out of the ground because these are this is made for indoors with concrete around it so outdoors if there's a lot of water the tank will float right out of the ground so you need need to make sure it's secured in the ground and i'll go ahead and backfill the under drain with the rock make sure you stall and then cap on the end of the under drain so the rocks don't get in there it's about five dollars for the end cap and uh next step i'm going to go ahead and punch a hole i'm probably just going to punch one hole uh for the the pipe and the electric cord to come out of as opposed to having two separate holes here is the sump pump that i purchased from lowe's i'll put it up on the screen while i was there i forgot to buy a check valve so i ran up the to the hardware uh bought a check valve from ace so it does not come with it so simply screw that in there screw the flex pipe onto that we'll drop it in and test it out the sump pump is plugged in we're going to go ahead drop it in the water it will only click on whenever it's completely up then it will turn off when it's down when it's drained sweet sweet there you have it outdoor sump pump install
