hey guys I'm Nick from drywall nation and today I'm going to show you as a homeowner DIY er my personal opinion of the easiest corner bead to install so beside me here are three of the most typical beads you're probably going to find at your local lumberyard Home Depot Lowe's we have the standard steel bead the paper face steel bead and then the trim tacks behind me so I'm going to give you a breakdown of each one so first we're going to take a look at the standard steel bead a bead like this should be installed using screws nails or a hammer and clincher mm it to the corner and it's not this is not the easiest to make sure it's level and typically for the first coat you should use a setting compound such as Darabont or sheetrock just to ensure that it doesn't edge crack down their own so in my opinion this isn't easier to be to go with as an inexperienced person so the second bead we're going to take a look at is the paper face he'll be unlike the steel beads that require mechanical fasteners the paper face steel bead requires you to mud it in place which if you're not experienced can be nasty take a little bit longer and odds are if you're not experienced you're going to end up with bubbles or blisters behind the paper the next day which will just make your life harder so my personal opinion is just to stay away from this bead totally if you're not experienced so lastly is my personal pick for the easiest bead for you to install it's the trim tacks rigid vinyl corner need and I'm going to show you a demo right now so to install this bead you're going to need to pick up a can of trim tacks 8:47 spray adhesive as well let's spray the bead now I typically put the feet on the floor when I'm spraying just to avoid getting it on the walls or anything but as a homeowner maybe your floors are finished you may have to put a tarp down or take it outside but I find this Swayne shrimp decks recommends you hold the can 60 inches away so we'll start spraying one side and just easily go down with ease and then I tip it over switch sides do the other side and that's it then you move on to the ball it's essentially the same thing you hold the can six to ten inches away work your way down both sides the betta said time to set up now so we're just going to go ahead and installed so now that we have the bead fastened to the wall this is the most important thing you want to take a putty knife and check both sides of the bead to make sure you can see light so the bead can be filled properly so now that we have the be fastened to the wall and we checked top to bottom that it can be filled properly let's go ahead and coat it with mine so depending on your situation or the tools you have I recommend just going and thinking of a tub of this pre-mixed mine if you're just doing a bathroom or something small you probably don't want to drop a ton of money on buying a drill and an auger and stuff so this is probably your best bet we're going to go ahead scoop up some of this mud kind of want to work it around a little bit because it's going to have bubbles in it and stop it first so I know some of you may use pan and knife here we use hock and trowel so that's the demonstration I'm going to show you so for step one I recommend don't go crazy with the mud because if you're not experienced you'll tip it over it will just dump everywhere and make a mess so put a little bit of mud on and start with that so to start tilt the hock sideways and scoop up a bit on your Hawk and as you go to the wall I recommend going sideways at first just cause it's easier to do it that way without making a mess so just practice with out a bit and work your way down the bead feeling it as you go so when you get Midway wipe off your travel start back at the top and putting pressure on the backside of your travel slowly wipe down the B maybe stop Midway wipe off the excess and same thing now you're going to put the pressure on the front edges you're coming back up and wipe it away wipe off the edges so there's no no extra mount on the front and that's that and start at the bottom and work your way back down doing the same thing so repeat the same procedure as that side on the second side remembering to keep pressure on the outside of your knife against the wall so it's not to leave with thick edge that you'll have to sand off or scrape off the next day if you're having the odd spot that doesn't seem like it's sticking point properly trim Tex recommends putting a staple in those spots until the it sets up so now at this point you let the mud dry give it a day or so and then put one or two more coats on depending how you feel it looks so that's my opinion of the easiest cleanest most effective bead you can put on so I hope you learn something can take something away from this video and thanks for watching you
