what is going on today everybody it's Buddy and in this video I'm going to show you guys how I took this rusted dirty and neglected Jeep and turned it into thousands of dollars of profit and if you're new to the channel my name is Buddy and I buy and sell cars for a living full time so if you want to learn how to get potentially profitable vehicles at low prices how to fix them up and flip them and make a whole lot of money on the back end be sure to subscribe now so you don't miss anything I'm about to take you guys on the entire process of me making money on this Jeep from how much I knew I should buy it for how much you know I could sell it for how much money I had to put into it and ultimately how much money I made so without further Ado let's jump right into the video so it was a Sunday evening of me checking out listings here on autotemcus.com see if there's any deals that I was going to miss out on this white Jeep Wrangler instantly caught my eye it was a 2013 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara for eighteen thousand five hundred dollars now the miles were pretty low at only 116 000 miles and the price seems really reasonable from my experience buying looking at Jeeps so I decided to click the ad and see what was going on with this Jeep now upon taking a look at the pictures I I could instantly tell that the jeep has seen better days the first thing I noticed that the bumpers were aftermarket metal winch bumpers both the front and the back bumpers seem to be really rusted out with huge rust spots also taking closer look at the front of the Jeep I could see that the p and the logo of Jeep must have fallen off sometimes that happens especially for it being so hot here in Florida the tires look to be nice rugged aftermarket tires that had a good bit of life left on them so that was a huge plus now the picks on the inside were a little rough I could instantly see stains all over the seats and the floorboards were super nasty A good rule of thumb if someone doesn't keep their car clean at least it's probably not well taken care of mechanically so just keep that in mind I also noticed in this picture that the door panel was completely ripped off no idea how someone loses the door panel but I guess I've honestly seen crazier stuff now going down the list in the description it read no mechanical issues tires are good interior is missing the door panel and minor rust on the body but overall in good shape no mechanical issues doesn't really mean that there's no mechanical issues some people who aren't mechanically inclined won't notice like a bad ball joint or bad shifting or any other issues like that just that there's no check engine light so they assume that the vehicle is running perfect the tires are good and the missing door panel here in the description I already saw that from the picture so that's no new info and minor rusts on the body but overall in good shape now I'm not sure if they're referring to the bumpers saying that there's minor rust on the body or if there's rust under or running brake lines or whatever so I would definitely have to just see this thing in person just to make sure so the next thing that I needed to do was check comparisons on other Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Saharas and get a better idea of what these things are selling for so I did an advanced search here on autotempace.com and after a bit of clicking around on my computer and doing a little bit of digging I figured that this Jeep fixed up and looking real pretty will be worth somewhere around twenty two thousand dollars since all the dealerships were selling similar Jeeps around twenty two thousand five hundred dollars and obviously they do have a dealer fee on top of that so I'd be way under them so that's about a 3 500 profit margin and that's at the asking price of 18 500 so it's definitely money to be made on this Jeep if the rust is not too bad so I'm definitely interested to check this thing out so I decided to shoot the seller message and the first thing I asked is if the rust is limited to just the bumpers and they reply it I believe so instantly I knew they knew nothing about cars just from the response but that's okay I knew I just needed to see this thing in person so the next I asked if there's any wiggle room on the price now I probably mentioned this in every one of my car flipping videos I do have 10 of them but this is very important so I will say it again never ask something like will you take fifteen thousand dollars or something along the lines of that don't spit out a number almost every time someone does that to me when I'm selling a car I ignore them because they aren't even serious buyers in the first place instead ask are you firm on the price or do you have any room for negotiation or any wiggle room that will simply just show you if the seller is firm or they're willing to move on the price a little bit to make a deal happen they reply with a very simple sure which is money to my ears so we both figured out a time that will work for us and I set out to see this Jeep in person now while we're on the way to the seller's house I want to mention buying more expensive Vehicles just like this one since most of the flips I show here on my channel are way under the ten thousand dollar mark this this thing is listed at almost twenty thousand dollars so I definitely recommend just bringing like a thousand dollars as a deposit if you guys strike a deal on the total selling price then pull out that thousand dollars and put it in the seller's hand as a safety to hold the vehicle for you probably not the best idea to drive around with eighteen thousand dollars cash on you now the next thing is what to bring with you and every time I go see a car I bring my OBD reader with me OBD reader is gonna see if there's any problems in any of the cars I pick up I'll leave a link in the description for three different OBD readers that I recommend these are very important to keep with you anytime you go look at a car I never leave my house without one and the very last thing is a website I was talking about earlier called autotempest.com I use their website regularly and they also agree to sponsor this video now something I'm super excited that Auto Tempest just launched is their new app with this app I can quickly search any maker model vehicle and get results from all major car sites like car.com TrueCar carvana so let me show you here for example in the app I'll search Jeep for the make Wrangler Unlimited for the model and I'll keep the distance at about 300 miles type in my zip code and now under advanced search I'll search all the years between 2012 and 2014 since this Jeep is a 2013 for example now you can see I get a bunch of results and the best part I can filter which site to pull cars from so if I click here you can open results for just AutoTrader if I can do the same thing here for the carvana TrueCar and all the other major car sites now my favorite part since I get most of my cars from Facebook Marketplace is they have a Marketplace button here so if I click this it will show me all the results here from Marketplace as well you can see all the results here from 40 miles from Orlando where I'm at the navigation is also much quicker than even the Facebook app I can drop this bar and get a larger distance and get much more results if that's what I'm looking for I can also quickly change my location and search for cars in the Miami area Tampa area or whatever area you're in now we can do the same thing on this app for all of Craigslist as well we can search all of East Florida one button just by clicking this link and it opens up all the different results this app is the end I'll be all for car shopping so a huge shout out to Auto tempest.com for making my life easier by letting me search all major sites in one place so after about 45 minutes of driving we finally arrived here at the seller's house so the first thing I notice here is that this thing is actually a really good looking Jeep the lift is not too big and the aftermarket wheels match really nice here with the white paint you can see here in the front the rust is really bad on this bumper I'm sure this bumper was put on when this thing was probably new about 10 years ago and it's just been rusting away ever since also the back bumper was doing the same pretty big rough spots but the bumpers definitely didn't seem to lose any structural Integrity thankfully the rust was just on these bumpers and I found no rust here on the body anywhere so another thing I saw which I actually already noticed here from the pictures is that the original ad was missing the p on the logo lucky for me the seller actually showed me later down the road that he has the P nicely tucked away in the owner's manual pouch so that is a huge plus another flaw I noticed here on the interior was these two small dents here on the passenger side they weren't too deep so I think I should be able to get them out most of the way at least now also here on the passenger side I saw that someone must have ran over a puddle of green paint or something there was green paint kicked up all over here on the Jeep and a lot of it got stuck here on this metal running board the texture on this running board was really aggressive so that will not wipe off with any kind of adhesive remover it will definitely need to be painted to get it looking good again now looking here at the tires I noticed that they all look to be in awesome shape they had a whole lot of life left on them but there was one issue here I thought that there was just a rock stuck in one of these tires but it turns out it was actually a nail sticking out thankfully it was holding air fine and it was still really close to the middle of the tire so that caused no issue for it to be patched now it's time to go into the interior and see what we can find and the first thing I noticed was that I saw of a missing door panel the seller told me it was broken by his son and somehow it got lost completely when they moved houses so it's going to need a new one altogether now something else I noticed is that it was missing one of the AC vents it was just a random big hole here in the dash and I'm sure these things break all the time finally replacement should not be too hard and obviously it goes without saying the interior of this thing was absolutely disgusting there's stains here on the seats there's gunks smash into the floorboards dried up drinks all into the cup holder just an all-around dirty jeep that needed a super throat detail now it was time to take it on a test drive and make sure this thing ran A-Okay and to my pleasant surprise everything ran nice and smooth there was no weird road noise the brakes worked perfectly it didn't need an alignment or really anything the only issue I found when checking the turn signals and the lights is that the headlight here on the driver's side was out no big deal there though so all in all this thing doesn't really need any major work just a few little cosmetic issues here and there and I could have a nice looking Jeep worth around twenty two thousand dollars retail for a quick sale probably around twenty one thousand so with the issues that it had at hand I think I can chew the seller down a bit from eighteen thousand five hundred dollars so while I was looking over everything on the Jeep I scribbled down on the piece of paper everything that needed to be fixed in short I gave him the list and told him to look at it and considering all these issues here I won't be able to do 18 500 but I do have a thousand dollars cash in my pocket for him to hold on to and I'll be back with another fifteen thousand dollars cash for him he said no way my wife would kill me I told him to tell his wife I'll grab an extra one thousand dollars just for her and I recall him laughing when I said that it may have been the perfect thing to say because it lightened the mood a little bit and he agreed and shook my hand for a total sale price of seventeen thousand dollars now the Jeep is officially mine it's time to take this thing home and get this thing fixed up and sale ready now while we're on the way home I want to talk quickly here about negotiation negotiations don't have to be super Cutthroat in stressful situations sometimes they can be fun and cracking a joke here and there can really light in the mood and get everyone on board with a win-win situation this is my 11th car flipping video and I try to teach a lesson in negotiations about every single car flip video so go check out the others if you haven't already also something super super important is that how to inspect a used car before you buy it I have over 30 minutes of video of me talking about and showing step by step how I inspect the used car every time before I buy one this goes for someone either just trying to flip a car or just trying to buy one for yourself personally there's a whole series on my channel so be sure you're subscribed and check out those videos here in the future so after about 45 minutes of driving we finally got the Jeep back here to my house and now it's time to start fixing it up and getting it ready for its new home so as always I have a complete checklist everything this Jeep needs before it's ready for its new home and the first thing we're going to start on is that nail in the tire and I want to get that fixed before anything now to plug a hole by yourself is not a very difficult task and I'll walk you guys here through it they say these are temporary plugs as well and they just get you home but honestly I've driven on these for thousands of miles many times over so let's start out by taking some pliers and pulling that nail out sometimes you need a flathead screwdriver so you can pry that nail head up just so you can get enough grip to pull it out with your pliers then once you pull the nail out you're going to hear air rushing out the tire you'll switch to your reaming tool this actually widens the hole and makes enough room that you can fit the tire plug inside the tire now once the hole is big enough you take your plug out and shove it halfway through and then you're gonna rip it out but I was having a huge issue with that I tried over and over to plug it in but these super rugged off-road tires are so hard to patch I actually ended up bending the plug tool and after nearly breaking my wrist for five minutes I decided I just need to pull the tire off have my buddy at the tire shop fix it professionally because there was no way I was getting this thing fixed by myself so I took my car here to my dude I paid 40 here for a patch and I'm gonna show you guys how a patch is done here from the inside so what my dude is doing here he's using a tire machine to pull the tire off the rim the next thing he's going to do is going to set it up here on his jig and he's gonna grind down the inside of the tire that's going to give him a nice clean work surface for his patch then he lays down a special adhesive down and places the patch directly here over the hole after he has the patch in place he's going to set it here with this roller Stitcher tool so it lasts the rest of the life of the tire he put the tire back on the rim and forty dollars later I had the wheel back on the Jeep and the tire was as good as new so let's cross the tire off the list and move on here to these huge eyesores of bumpers we got but before we do these bumpers let's go ahead and start our money investor charts so we know how much cash we have invested into this project so far we have seventeen thousand dollars for the price of Jeep and forty dollars for the pass job here on that tire so let's get back to those bumpers so the first thing I had to do was disconnect all the wiring on these little aftermarket lights here on the bumper now getting these bumpers off was pretty difficult and not difficult in the means of mechanical scale but in the means of me going to the gym five days a week was not enough for me to break these bolts and nuts loose off with ease these things were super rusted out and super hard to break loose once I got all the bolts off this thing just dropped straight on us I did have my friend help take out the last few bolts because I knew this thing was going to be super heavy and now that the bumpers are free I was able to get access to the back of them and I was able to pop out all these small little bolts so I could finally remove all these little lights here off the front bumper once the lights were out we took sanding discs on angle grinders and we took off all the heavy rust buildup this step took quite a while because there was a whole lot of rusts on these things after the rust was stripped I sprayed these bumpers down with some paint with some Rust inhibitor on it so the rust will not come back then after the paint was all nice and dry I got some roll-on bed liner and rolled on a nice thick layer of bed liner to seal the metal down and and it was finished you can see these bumpers came out absolutely beautiful the aggressive texture hides all the small pits that the rust left here on these bumpers and they came out looking rugged and even and super pretty and last but not least to finish off these bumpers I went to the store to get new bolts since a lot of these old bolts were so rusted out they stripped when I removed them it cost 41 dollars just in new nuts and bolts alone but it was well worth it so the new owner will not have to worry about this thing ever falling off and after it was all put back together you can see it made a huge difference in just having these new bumpers so let's cross the bumpers off the list and move on to the small dents here on the side but real quick let's jump back to the money investor chart and add 50 here for the gallon of bed liner paint and 41 dollars here for all the new nuts and bolts now back to the dents so popping out small dents like this don't take a whole lot of skill if you have the right tools here for the job now especially this smaller Dent here on the bottom so what I'm using here is called a PDR kit PDR stands for paintless dent removal so we have here is some strong adhesive and we're gonna put it on this little plastic tab you put it's centered right here on the dent and then you wait for it to dry then this tool here pulls the dent outwards to reshape the metal and after you repeat this a few times and you get the dent out you want to use a small hammer and a punch and you're going to hit all the high spots down now This Little Light here make lines in the body panel so you can see exactly what's going on and after a while you can see these dents are no longer really even that noticeable at all it does take a lot of practice but I'm definitely getting better here at PDR work so with the dense gun we can go ahead and scratch that off the list and move on to the next step and that is fixing that running board with the dried paint on it so like I explained earlier someone must have ran over a small puddle of wet paint on the road or something because there was paint all over this running board now latex paint like this can be scraped off flat body panels but with texture surfaces like this Runner it definitely will not come out so the best method to fix this would just be painting it all over again so I got it all masked off with a trash bag and some tape and then wipe the entire Runner down here with some rubbing alcohol to get all the cake dearth and grime off now the next step was to give the alcohol a few min minutes to dry off and then spray it down with one of my favorite paints called trim and bumper paint by Rust-Oleum this paint lays on perfect every single time and I've actually used this paint to paint the rims of my old car a few years ago the rims on that old BMW are still holding up super strong so this stuff has been time tested by me personally and I can vouch for it now after you can see this running board looks so much better and it matches beautiful here with the new bumpers so we can go ahead and cross off the running board off the list and move on to the broken logo now as you guys may remember when I was looking over the Jeep at the seller's house I noticed that the P was missing and I asked the seller about it he said it was tucked away in the owner's manual pocket and that is awesome and it saving about thirty dollars since I'd have to get the entire emblem new not just the P so the first thing I had to do was clean off all the old adhesive off of the emblem and my favorite chemical to do that is Goof Off I soak the old adhesive in the goof off for a few seconds and then took a screwdriver and I scraped everything away so it was nice and clean and of course a little goof off with some scrubbing on the Jeep as well so the surface where the P was gonna go was nice and clean then I took some double-sided tape and I covered the back of the letter with it and trimmed the excess off with a razor knife so it was nice and even with the edges then all you got to do is peel back the tape and boom the emblem is looking beautiful again so let's cross the emblem off the list and move on to the last of the issues here in the exterior which was that headlight and funny enough when I was just about to go buy a new headlight it magically turned back on and then it shut off again right here before I started recording so I knew that the headlight was fine it was just a loose wire or a short so I pulled a few screws off at the top here to see what's going on behind this headlight and come to find out it was just a loose connection I spotted it right away and was able to push the electrical connection together nice and snug so I didn't have to spend not one penny so the headlight was working perfectly again and we can go ahead and we can cross the headlight off the list and we are officially done here with the exterior of this thing it's time to give it a quick wash here at our local car wash and get it all nice and clean and you can see now guys how far this thing has come especially with how these new bumpers look I am super happy with how it looks and it's going to sell super fast with how sharp these exterior came out everything looks nice and clean so now it's time to get the interior up to par with the exterior and we're going to start here with the easy part and that's that missing AC vent So within a few minutes of searching on eBay I found one for 35 I was able to find the exact same color as well so good news after a few days it arrived and putting it on was super easy all I need to do was push and twist in and then the dash was looking much better so we'll jump back to the money invest chart and we'll add six dollars for the car wash and 35 dollars here for the new AC vent so with the missing AC vent cross off the list there was one more piece to source and that was to replace that missing door panel so again the first thing to do is to Source One in my experience eBay is usually the best place for used auto parts and for 162 dollars I found pretty much the only used passenger door panel of this color on the internet so I bought it right away in a few days it arrived here at my house and lucky for me this thing came with all the screws and bolts and it also came with the electrical locking mechanism as well so all that was left was to fit it in place screw everything down and hook up all the wiring in less than 50 18 minutes I had this thing installed and now this Jeep interior is coming together beautifully and with the door panel cross off the list all we need to do is give this thing a super thorough detail because this thing is stained and filthy from top to bottom so the first part of this detail was to strip the Jeep down by removing all the seats so we can really get this thing clean now to remove car seats there's always four bolts in each corner of the seat holding them down in place a lot of times these bolts have never been removed so a nice heavy duty drill gun helps break them loose because they can be super super tight now that we've got all the seats removed we're going to pull out all the stains here from these seats in my absolute favorite stain remover is a product called hyper cleanse by lithium Auto Care this stuff works great on pretty much any surface and I actually have a discount code here for you guys promo code buddies DIY 20 to get 20 off everything here on lithium's website literally the best detailing products I've ever used and I personally use a lot over the years so I soaked the seat here in some hyper cleanse and you really don't need a lot since it's so concentrated now I'll work in the hyper cleanse with a drill brush to knock it Loose you can get away way with a damp Rag and kind of brush it in but a drill brush makes quick work out of any stain and after the drill brush I took my carpet cleaner and I sucked out all the nasty Caked Up stuff that has been building up over the years on these seats you can see these seats were absolutely disgusting here about this brown water so this step was definitely necessary and after I was done you can see the before and after all the stains are out and these seats are looking brand new again and this interior is going to be awesome so after I was done refurbishing all the seats I started here with the inside carpet of the Jeep there were toys and food and caked on gum everywhere you looked there was something gross on these floorboards so I cleaned out all the stuff and I took my shop back and spent a good 20 minutes getting every little thing up out of this carpet and once I was finished vacuuming I repeated the process here and I soaked the carpets here in some hyper glands the product I told you guys about earlier and I worked it in real nice with the drill brush again until I covered every square inch of this dirty carpet that I rinsed and sucked out all the built up dirt and Caked Up Food and after a bit of elbow grease you can see this carpet is absolutely spotless and smelling great now it's time to put the seats back in and we're going to detail the dash in the center console and all the other pieces that we didn't get and I like to use a product here by lithium as well called Innerspace this stuff leaves a nice long-lastic low shine on the plastic and leather of your car and it makes everything look brand new again and again promo code buddies DIY 20 for 20 off everything on their entire website and after everything was wiped down the only thing left to finish this interior off was to clean these floor mats so I soaked them down in some Degreaser and I let it sit here for a few minutes then I took a different drill brush attachment and I scrubbed out all the caked on food stuck on these floor mats and before I could even rinse them off we got a real nice storm that did all the rinsing for me so I let Mother Nature finish the job off and after the mats were back in this Jeep you can see this interior looks absolutely amazing it came such a long way since I first picked this thing up all the stains and gunked up food on the floor all the missing interior pieces this interior looks absolutely awesome I'm super happy with how it all came together so at this point the exterior is looking super sharp the interior is looking brand new it's time to snap some pictures and find this thing a brand new home now the first rule of thumb making an ad is to take all the pictures of the vehicle vertical also known as portrait mode and if you take the pictures in landscape mode it won't look as good now here's an example of what they're both going to look like obviously everyone's going to use their phone to shop for cars these days not many people sit on the computer so it definitely helps to take it vertically so you make sure the ad looks as good as it possibly can and after we got all the pictures taken I made the ad and I decided to list the Jeep at a healthy 22 thousand dollars that's slightly under what I'm seeing at all the dealerships remember when I did comps or autotemps.com and they have a dealer fee with that so my price is really fair now with more expensive vehicles in the 15 20 25 000 range they tend to sit a lot longer than let's say a five thousand dollar car I had a lot of Tire kickers and people who are interested but never showed up but after about two weeks of answering endless questions to Tire kickers I finally got someone who actually seemed super interested we scheduled a time that works for the both of us and he came by later that day with the cash and after a thorough look over in a test drive he couldn't find a single issue here with the Jeep and decided that he actually wanted it it chewed me down from 22 to twenty thousand seven hundred fifty dollars I'm sure I could have gotten a lot more but this buyer was the only one to make an actual real offer so I decided to shake their hand and go for the twenty thousand seven hundred fifty he got a great deal on this one so now that we got this thing sold it's time to do a little math together and see what kind of profit we're looking at so let's jump back here to the money invested chart and we're gonna go ahead and add an additional hundred dollars for miscellaneous things like gas detailing products and anything else I might be missing now I'm gonna go ahead and add all these numbers together and it comes out to a grand total of seventeen thousand four hundred and fifty two dollars so we'll take the sale price of twenty thousand seven hundred fifty dollars we'll subtract the total amount invested of seventeen thousand four hundred fifty two and that comes out to a total profit margin of three thousand two hundred and ninety eight dollars not too bad at all so we're gonna do a little more math we're gonna break all these numbers down a little bit further to find out an hourly rate now for the tire it took me about an hour between trying to patch it myself and driving up to the tire shop the bumpers were quite a lot of work I'd say at least six hours for those the small dents on the side took about one hour to pop out painting the runny board was only about 30 minutes less than 30 minutes here for the logo but we'll put down 30 minutes anyways I'd say another 30 minutes for the headlight wiring AC vent took seconds so we actually won't even just count that the door panel took about 30 minutes as well now the detailing took me probably a solid six hours since I like to strip everything down and get my flips a super thorough detail and last but not least I'm going to add five hours just for miscellaneous stuff like driving filling up with gas searching for parts and actually searching for the Jeep now if we had all those up it comes out to a total of 21 hours invested in this Jeep so let's take the profit margin of 3298 we're going to divide it by the total number of hours invested which is 21 hours and that comes out to an hourly rate of 157 an hour now that is a solid hourly rate in my book and most of the work I did was fairly simple so with a project like this I feel like most you guys who aren't mechanely inclined could easily tackle this project so as you guys know I do all my own mechanical work on these vehicles as well as all the filming and all the editing so if you can please do me a
