hey everybody thanks for tuning in again to Mike fixes things today we're going to fix something around my house and live in a house that's built in the 60s and uh we have a window well here these are normally supposed to drain very easily because there's supposed to be good drainage in there and sucks the water away from it however lately it seems that that's been blocked and the water fills up goes over the edge of the cement fills into the window and then streams into the basement in the furnace room so we're going to prevent that there's one of two ways you can do it one is a very difficult way and one that is uh to dig it out and repair the drainage and the other one is a very simple way so what I've done is I've bought this at the local hardware store it's an automatic on off pump so it's a submersible pump and it plugs into your electricity and it hooks up to a hose and uh he put it into the window well and whenever the water fills up or whenever the window well fills up with water it will turn on and push the water away so this is what it looks like and all I need to do set it down flat into the window well make sure it's sitting on gravel and not right on dirt so that the uh the pump doesn't suck up a bunch of mud into your hose and stuff and then you run your hose I've got mine running around the corner out into the front lawn and so it Waters the grass so um and I'll give you a little demonstration of what that looks like when it's raining and stuff too see those water level is rising there it gets over that black part of the pump pump should start working and prevent the water from getting up to the window Edge so there you have it ladies and gentlemen it really does work it was sucking the water out and prevented the water from rising the pump turns on when the water gets to a certain height and when the water gets down to below the the pump or the float mechanism gives 30 seconds before it turns off to make sure that the hose is drained as well so uh it worked for me for us last night when we had a big huge rain and it should work for you too let me know in the comments if this is going to help you I always love to hear from you and please remember to like And subscribe
