How to Fix a Crack on Plaster Ceiling || Easy Steps DIY

hey guys tuba here this crack happened when i was removing the crown molding from here to install the scrum molding there was a huge nail here and the plaster cracked while removing it but i wasn't worried since it's an easy fix when small like this i need to fix the ceiling first before i reinstall the crown molding that's why we have this ugly look right now but it will look beautiful when i'm all done with here but today it's all about this crack on the plaster ceiling first we need to secure both sides of the crack by putting some screws we are doing this in case the plaster is loose and not grabbing the lath anymore lead has gaps in between sometimes you might miss the wood and hit the gap just try another location close by i don't feel any movement looks like it's secured well here's a good tip if you have a crack line like this that just stops cut that line so it doesn't advance any further second we need to widen the crack line this may sound crazy but that's the best way to do it we create a channel for speckle to go in and grab on third step is to apply the speckle i use the ready mix one using a six inch spackle knife this is the first coat it doesn't have to be perfect please don't forget to like the video if you get any value we're gonna let that sit once it's dry you can give it a light sand and knock down any high edges then apply the second coat of speckle being more careful this time i am planning to get this done with two coats but if necessary i can still apply a third coat here it is the second coat it's dry now the fourth and last step today is sanding i prefer to use a wet sponge block to avoid excess dust it really makes a big difference just wash it off often while you are using it there it is all done you cannot tell the ceiling was cracked it looks nice and smooth all it needs a nice priming and paint but that's gonna have to wait till i get the molding done here then i'm gonna paint everything at once you can watch that video from the link right above here when it's done and don't skip to wash the crown molding with led light video next [Music]
