in some cases you got the error when sending an email from your apps or printers using smtp submission without modern authentication the root of problem is microsoft was disabled basic authentication on your microsoft 365 tenant you have two options the first one is enable smtp authentication on your tenant the second one disable smtp authentication on the tenant level then enable it for specific mailboxes only microsoft highly recommend that you should using the second method to enable it at tenant level let's connect to exchange online powershell run the following command to check smtp auth status smtp client authentication disabled property is true means the smtp auth is already disabled to enable smtp authh run the following command the second method you can using powershell to enable smtp authentication for a user but in this video i'll enable it from microsoft admin center it's more simple in the microsoft 365 admin center select the user click mail click manage email apps and verify the value of authenticated smtp checked equals enabled unchecked equals disabled finally try to sending an email from your apps or printers to verify it works and that's it thanks for watching and see you in next videos you
