sieges in total war warhammer are not something i greatly enjoy so i often try to just get through them as quickly as possible so what i'm going to show you is how to quickly and easily win sieges without losing too many if any troops at all this is going to be a little bit cheesy which obviously isn't something i normally promote but if you find sieges a bit of a slog and a bit tedious and you just want to get them over and done with as quickly as possible well this could help you enjoy the game more so in this siege i'm facing pretty much two full stacks of skaven one of the armies isn't too much to worry about but the other garrison army does have some pretty strong stuff so how are we gonna defeat all this with a measly single army that is half the size well we're not going to use them that's how we're gonna win this part of the army is going to do absolutely nothing and it's simply going to fall back right now because i accidentally put them too close to the settlement in range of the towers i underestimated their range so they're going to fall back and literally just sit on this hill that's it the other part of my army though is the key this is the little special forces squad that is going to go and win the thing for us but while i said that this army is going to do nothing its placement over here is actually incredibly important to this plan by putting most of my army over here what i've done is drawn all the skaven to be placed here by the ai because they pretty much mirror wherever you put troops and as you can see this has led to the rest of the settlement being pretty much empty which leaves this unoccupied this is our key to triumph the victory location if we take this and hold it for a while we win and that's what we're going to try and do with our little special forces squad that is sneaking around this side now their placement was also very specific i put them on this side of the big rock to the left so that it would draw the skaven to the wall that mirrors this area and as you can see there's a whole bunch of skaven there so we have succeeded in drawing them to be placed where we want them to which has left this whole side and this whole area completely empty and that provides our special forces an opportunity to sneak in there and take that victory objective before the enemy even knows what the hell is going on so from their deployment position i'm going to rush them around to this store this is the door i want to get through as quickly as possible because on this map at least for the skaven they've got a long old way to go to get over here they've got to come from here over these bridges and then around this way and then still further around this way you've got to come all the way around here to be able to access this part of the map and that gives us lots of time to get our units down there and through there as a little passageway before they can attempt to stop us we're going to try and run down here and then all the way around up top and straight to the victory objective as quickly as possible and for this of course i needed the fastest units to be in this little special forces squad as we're calling them so i've got costalton in here i've got three units of lancers i've got my bear coming as well just because i need some dangerous power in that army too and as i say my main army is just going to sit up on the hill doing absolutely nothing not taking any damage so they're going to be in great shape when this battle ends they are getting attacked by some little menace below units but they're not too much to worry about so that's fine the key at this early stage of the battle is to get to that door as quickly as possible speed is of the essence we also then need to break it down as quickly as possible and get through that little passageway before all the skaven start to clog it up and stop us from getting to that victory objective i'm gonna let costalton go out the door first and then put the lancers in two ideally i'd like the bear to be bashing down the door but he's a little bit slower so it's gonna take him a while to get here but we should be able to get through this door pretty quick and get up that little passageway to the victory objective quicktime and we can see the skaven are starting to react now they're bringing a bunch of stuff over this way but as i said they've got a long old way to go so it's a little unfortunate for them but buys a lot of time for us and you can see all the skaven's still over here and by putting my main army up on the hill over there it's drawn all of these skaven to be at the farthest part of the map from the victory objective so they're all over here at first and they've got to go all the way over to here to get to the victory objective to protect it so they've got pretty much the maximum distance we could force them to run by placing our army where we did and this is a tactic that can work with any faction really and on all kinds of siege maps some maps can make it easier or harder though and it's not really guaranteed to be able to work every time but i tend to have a pretty good success rate with this tactic and i've made it through the door now we're pushing up as quickly as possible worth mentioning as well that the ai can be a little bit unpredictable in sieges sometimes they'll rush back to try and defend the victory objectives sometimes they won't bother at all other times they'll already have units there from the start of the battle so this can go all kinds of ways and remember when you're selecting your kind of special forces units that they all need to be fast cavalry fast monsters flying units can help out and also you do need some killing power so for me i've got costalton on his bear here and i'm bringing the elemental bear because winged lancers won't really be able to stand up to some of the stronger skaven units like the rat ogres and we can see here one unit of skaven slave slingers has managed to make it into our path trying to slow us down but luckily they're easily dealt with so we're just going to give them a charge and everyone else is going to ignore them and keep moving to that objective and that's part of the reason why i bought the cavalry so that they can act as blockers because there's all these little choke points that i could put them in if there were more units over here i could put them here i could put them here all to allow my other units passage to be able to move down this side quickly just holding the enemy back they come this way we're just going to hold them back just so that the stronger stuff and the better stuff can go and capture that objective as quickly as possible as i say it's all about speed if you're too late getting to the victory objective you're probably going to end up with all of those skaven units on top of you before you're able to cap it for the victory and we're nearly there now worth noting as well that this tactic can be even more effective if you have units with stalk so that the enemy won't even see them until they're right on top of your victory objectives that's what i do with ogres and gorges as they have stalk you can just sneak them in the back door and take the victory objective before the enemy even realizes that they're there so it's a pretty sneaky cheeky little plan certainly bordering on the cheese if not all out cheese but i don't think it's that bad it's just baiting the enemy and then attacking them somewhere they're not looking it's classic strategy really all warfare is based on deception yo as good old sun tzu set so if at the moment you're finding having to fight all the sieges a little bit tedious because the auto resolve is obviously not very fair right now and really us over this can be a way to get through them easier and hopefully help you enjoy the game more as i said i can find these kind of sieges a little bit tedious for me help it have been bothering me in this campaign for a long time they've been poking and prodding me all over the place so i decided it's time to get rid of them even if it is by a bit of a cheesy strategy and it's not that i necessarily dislike sieges i do really enjoy them if it's like big armies like two full stacks versus two full stacks or something then you can definitely have some fun with them but those seem to be few and far between so very often it's sieges that i'm not particularly looking forward to some rat ogres have come to get us though they've come to reclaim their victory objective my horses are not the best for taking them down luckily my elemental bear has just arrived i'm going to send costalton in to try and help as well then we'll charge the horses in to try and put some damage on them but these rats aren't silly they're falling back they see the bear coming they're going to go round the long way we're going to have a bit of benny hill chasing them play claw catapult starting to fire on my calves so we're going to get them to safety that's another thing to be careful of you might start getting missiles and artillery fire if you stay sat on the point so you might need to hide yourself away these rat hookers full on giving us the run around they will eventually make it into the victory objective so they are making the effort they're trying to get there they're the only unit up here so far but with everything on top of them they don't have much hope and they're going to get routed off some skaven infantry coming around this side though taking their sweet time however and that's fine for us that's what we need at this point when we've taken the objective all we need to do is buy time to keep enemies off the point so that they can't take it back you can see the green bar is filling up nice we're nearly halfway all we got to do is hold them off like i say you do need some strong units in your little party that's why i've got the bear here in costelton without those i doubt these lances would be able to hold the point by themselves they wouldn't be able to get rid of those rat ogres very easily so we definitely need something they could put damage on gonna get these ones accidentally charged i'm gonna come and save them though with everything else but we should be fine just gotta keep the skaven out of the victory objective again you can use units as blockers they may be a bit of a sacrifice they may die and get wiped out but hey if it's only one unit that's better than all of the rest of your army taking damage so it's just about protecting that one little zone blocking up where possible keeping the enemy out and stopping them from capping the point if you do this correctly you can win any siege even if you're vastly outnumbered by far superior higher tier troops this can get you the win so there we go how to win sieges without taking too much damage yourself allowing you to keep on rolling with a pretty healthy army you may take some losses if you've got stalk units you can definitely pull this off without losing any units at all which is probably very cheesy but hey at the moment with the auto resolve being pretty rubbish this could hopefully save you some frustration and keep you going on warhammer 3. i hope you've enjoyed this thanks for watching i will see you in the future
