hi guys this is Jude from easytext in this tutorial I'll be demonstrating how you can downgrade from Windows 11 to Windows 10 without losing any files folders or applications in previous tutorials I showed how to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 both for supported and unsupported devices I also showed how to upgrade from Windows 11 home to Windows 11 Pro Edition also without reinstalling Windows and without losing any files folders or applications now if you have upgraded to Windows 11 and for some reasons you feel like reverting back to Windows 10 maybe you upgraded on unsupported device and you feel like going back to Windows 10 or maybe you discovered you have an app that only works with Windows 10 or you have any other reasons for reverting back to Windows 10 then this video could come in handy here I'll be demonstrating two possible ways to do this depending on how soon after upgrading to Windows 11 that you want to downgrade back to Windows 10 and now without further Ado let's jump right into it [Music] [Music] thank you okay so here I have this HP Pavilion 15 with 7th gen Intel Core i5 processor originally running Windows 10 Pro I had just upgraded to Windows 11 a few days ago so if I wish to revert back to Windows 10 the first possible method would be by using the go back to Windows 10 feature which is part of the system recovery features in Windows now it's important to mention here that this feature is only available for 10 days after you have upgraded to Windows 11. so if it has been over 10 days since you upgraded to Windows 11 then you can skip to the second method which covers for Recovery Beyond 10 days now if you are not sure if 10 days has passed since you upgraded to Windows 11 you can simply follow this first method to verify simply open your search and type go back to Windows 10. click on this go back to Windows 10 from the search results you can also get to this page from the settings page go to system and then recovery now on this page you should have this go back option still available and clickable if yours is grayed out or not clickable then your upgrade is over 10 days old in which case you should proceed to the second method if yours is still available then the first method still applies to you just click on this go back button and that should initiate the downgrade process he then asks why you are going back simply select the most suitable reason for your use case and hit next then it suggests you to check and install the latest Windows update to see if that will fix the issue if that suits your case then you can go with that otherwise you can hit no thanks proceed to the process then it reminds you to backup your files just to have them save should anything go wrong now this process shouldn't affect your files but it's always advisable to have a backup before performing such operations if you have done that already then hit next and then it reminds you to also have your Windows password ready to sign in afterwards if you have done that already then hit next then finally hit go back to Windows 10 to begin the process now this process is going to take some time so it's advisable to have your system plugged to power the whole time even if you have a battery to it because if the system terminates if it shuts down in between it could lead to lots of data at the end you should have your Windows 10 back exactly as it was before you upgrade it to Windows 11 without losing any files folders or applications also without losing your Windows activation license so after downgrading your windows will still remain activated now if it's already over 10 days since you upgraded to Windows 11 then you can no longer see the option to go back to Windows 10 as shown in the first method and that brings us to the second method which is a bit more demanding in terms of the steps involved but we'll try to make it as easy as possible through a step-by-step approach here you will require third party tool if you want to retain your applications after going back to Windows 10. if you just want to retain your files and folders after the downgrade then you can simply back them up before you proceed with the process one quick way to do this backup is to Simply copy them to another storage Drive of course you can also back them up through some cloud services like Google drive or Dropbox but if you have another storage Drive simply plug it in open your file explorer click on this PC then open your local disk go to users they just copy the account you want to backup and paste it to the external storage Drive and you should be good to go now to be able to backup your applications you need effect party too there are few of such tools out there but the best I could find was this is us to do PC trans as the name implies this tool allows you to migrate your data applications and accounts from one PC to another it offers three possible mods to perform this migration first is using this PC to PC option here you need to have both computers connected to the same local area network and then you can transfer your files and applications directly from one computer to another via the network the second approach is via backup and restore here you are able to backup your applications and files if you want to another disk attached to your computer and afterwards you are able to restore these files and applications to either the same PC or a different PC this is obviously the feature we'll be using for our use case but there is also a third approach which is the app migration option this allows you to move your apps from one disk on your PC to another disk on the same PC with this you are able to save some space on the source disk however both the source and the destination discs will need to be attached to the computer each time you run the application and this is how it differs from the backup and restore option so in using the backup and restore option this tool creates an image file of your chosen programs and allows you to move these programs to another PC via the image file in a way that retains all the settings and configurations of the transferred applications so in downgrading from Windows 11 to Windows 10 without losing any files folders or applications there are four simple steps first is to backup your files and folders second is to create an image file of all the applications you intend to preserve after the downgrade using the ease or Studio PC trans tool I will expandate on this shortly third is to make a new Windows 10 installation and fourth is to move back the files and applications you backed up using this ISO Studio PC trans tool once again now starting with the first step which is to back up your files again there are several ways to do this so you can choose what works best for you you can do this without any third party tool just like I did earlier you can also use the eso Studio PC trans tool if you want you can use other cloud services like OneDrive Dropbox or any of those the bottom line is to ensure you have a copy of your files and folders backed up somewhere else other than your local disk the second step is to create an image file of all the applications you intend to preserve after the downgrade using the eso Studio PC trans tool you'll find a link to download this tool down the video description unfortunately the free version of this tool doesn't offer the services we need for this procedure so a paid version is required and to that I have reached out to East us after trying out this tool and they have agreed to offer you the viewers a 20 discount on any version of this tool if you use the coupon code easy text at checkout so when you click on the link in the description it should take you to a page like this and from here you can choose to either download or buy now I'll just download now it's a very light file it should be done in a bit next you simply click to start the installation here click install and wait for the process to complete and within a few minutes it should be done installing and you should have a page like this pop-up here you can just click Start now to launch the app you should have a page like this pop-up now Asos has made this tool almost completely intuitive to use here as you can see the layout is very simplified and each function pretty much speaks to its purpose again you require a full version to be able to use the features needed for this process so if you have purchased your license you can simply head over and click on this upgrade to the full version button and right below that you can click on enter license then paste your license code and hit activate and that should immediately activate the app now it's important to mention here that each license key entitles you to two activations at a time obviously because some of the features require having two pieces concurrently running the app to complete the process also if during the process you need to reinstall the tool and the license for any reason refuses to reactivate you can always contact is us to reset the license key for free as long as it's within your subscription period with that said I will go ahead to back up my applications to do that I will first attach the driveway I want to copy my apps to now it's important to ensure you have enough space on the drive to accommodate your apps then on this page click on backup and restore click Start next and then choose your name for your backup I'll just use Easy text then on the backup location it automatically chooses the attached storage now if you're not sure of the label for the storage drive you attached you can simply click on browse this PC select the right Drive hit select folder now if you want you can also choose a folder instead of a drive it doesn't matter afterwards hit confirm now it shows you a list of all the installed apps in three categories supported unsupported and existing yes you can see most of the apps are supported I think the unsupported apps are mostly drivers device drivers so under the supported apps I'll select all the apps I want to keep after the downgrade now here you should remember that the exhaust tool also retains all the settings of each app for me that is a key benefit because I have some apps I've been using for years and over time I have made several changes to the default settings to enable me work more efficiently so being able to retain those settings and configurations after the downgrade is very important for me of course if there are apps you no longer need you can skip them in the selection and then above here it tells me how many apps I have selected and the storage space they will take yeah I have a bit over two gigs of storage space required I have more than that on the USB stick so I'll just hit back up to start the process it's really that simple here above you can see the progress of the transfer the transfer time obviously depends on the number and size of the apps you have to backup also the processing power of your computer could be a factor while that happens let's talk a bit about the licensing of the apps so some apps are activated locally on your device While others are activated via an activation server that the app is synchronized when you use it for locally activated apps they will remain activated after the transfer but for apps activated via remote servers you will need to save your license to reactivate them after the transfer or contact the license provider to reactivate the apps afterwards now at the end of the backup it should say completed for my case this took about 20 minutes to complete and here it shows a summary of all the apps that I have backed up and now when I go to the folder where I saved my backup file and I have these two image files is it X and is it X1 so it splitted the apps into two image files now as you can see the end files were larger than the two gigs earlier estimated so it's important to ensure you have sufficient space on the drive you choose to use for this backup with that the next step is to make a clean windows 10 installation now I have made a few tutorials on this already in the past but I will go through the process quickly just to keep the flow of the tutorial you can pause the video at various stages if need be so open your browser and search download Windows 10. click on the first result from Microsoft on this page just select download the tool now after downloading launch the media creation tool accept the license terms yeah instead of upgrade this PC now select create an installation media and hit next here select your preferred language and Edition and hit next here select ISO file hit next then it asks where you want to save your ISO Farm I'll just save it on the desktop after creating the ISO file the next step is to make the new Windows 10 installation to do that just open the ISO file double click on the setup file here click next accept and here as you can see the option to keep files folders and applications are grayed out so we can't choose them this is why we needed to backup our files and then use the esos to the PC trans 2 to backup our applications so the only option we have here is to keep nothing we'll leave it at that and hit next to continue and then the whole installation process will proceed as usual now after installing Windows 10 the final process is to move back your files folders and applications depending on how you backed up your files and folders you can visit the backup location and copy your files back to the initial locations or in any other way you want now to restore your applications you first need to install the easel Studio PC trans tool once again so simply visit the site download the tool install and activate again as we did earlier afterwards plug in the drive where you saved the image file of your applications then on the ezos tool click on backup and restore here click Start select data restore hit next and use the browse option to locate your image file then hover over the image file and click restore to be in the process Kate opens up this page showing all the apps I can restore now instead of 10 apps we have eight apps here that is because the other two apps are already installed automatically during Windows installation so here I will simply select all and then click on restore to pin the rest of process now again this will take some time depending on how much apps you have backed up just wait patiently for the process to complete afterwards you should have all your applications back to your downgraded Windows 10 with the same settings and even the desktop shortcuts are restored just as they were on the windows 11. here you will need to restart your computer to consolidate the whole process and with that we have successfully downgraded from Windows 11 to Windows 10 without losing any files folders or applications again the link to the easers to do PC trans tool will be in the video description you can use the coupon code easy text for a 20 discount if you choose to buy and that is it for this tutorial give this video a thumbs up if you found it useful and share with anyone you think might want to see drop us a comment if you have any questions or feedbacks don't forget to subscribe and
