How to Design a Luxury Kitchen! LUXURY KITCHEN DESIGN 101

hi guys I'm Dawn white luxury kitchen and bath designer and today I am sharing with you one of my favorite kitchens we completed most recently this kitchen is an idyllic setting and the Beautiful Shoreline of Lake Michigan this family loves to cook loves to entertain I really connected with the mom she likes to feed her kids bring them all together around the table and in doing so we really had to create some fun design features for them for instance this is a large double Sub-Zero refrigeration unit this is a 36 inch wide refrigerator with two refrigerator drawers below this is another 36 inch refrigerator with two freezer drawers below all of this capacity for fresh food for they can go to the farmers market they can hit the grocery store they can have their groceries delivered and they really can fit everything here hidden by these beautiful wood panels created by air custom Cabinetry this Sub-Zero is truly built in not only does this have an enormous amount of fresh food capacity I have some hidden storage built in up above it's a fun little way to access things that you don't use very often maybe that serving platter or the Fourth of July dishes maybe even the punch bowl you only bring out once or twice a year and then just to close it it works really well for tiny people so what makes a luxury kitchen luxurious well every home is different every family is different so every project is different but really three simple things can Define luxury modern appliances distinctive style and ease of use so in this kitchen what makes this so easy to use here we have a six burner professional gas cooktop with a 12 inch wide built-in griddle so this allows several different sauces to be going on at the same time your main meal maybe a side dish and plenty of room to breathe and move around also in a luxury kitchen if you think of it and you reach for it we want it to be there for instance here we have built-in spice storage right at the range for your convenience while cooking right next to it we have utensils perfectly placed pot and pan storage below and also really good ventilation so the smells of the food and the grease and oil what's coming off of what you're cooking can easily be evacuated out of your kitchen space along with modern appliances this kitchen has some really amazing storage for instance this cleverly cladded pull out double waste and recycle bin with a nice drawer above here we have a very large sink Basin with one drain which off to the side allows me to have storage in the middle part of the modern kitchen design for this space was really important to bring in a lot of Windows to let natural light into the space so to achieve more windows you are really eliminating a lot of overhead upper wall cabinet storage where typically you would store most of your dishes so in these modern kitchens where we don't have upper wall cabinets we design in drawers that have Dish pegs that can store your plates bowls and salad plates this Peg system allows you to have a stack and it keeps the stack from falling over when you pull the drawer open what makes luxury luxury Perfection is in the details for instance we spend a lot of time really designing how to bring these windows all the way down to the counter and by doing so I designed this custom quartzite sill plate sitting on top of the countertop made out of same countertop material isn't it beautiful this space is a really fun space here we have all of your countertop appliances hidden behind these two pocket doors inside of this appliance garage I have a toaster a coffee maker as well as a smoothie maker another added feature for convenience is this tall Sub-Zero column freezer so this column freezer holds all of the ice cubes Frozen fruits and vegetables that they use every morning to make their smoothies isn't that convenient again talking about the details these custom designed mullion and glass cabinet doors have lighting behind them so you can really illuminate and have a really pretty display in the kitchen modern appliances these are two wolf wall ovens built in underneath the countertop if you don't know anything about wolf ovens you have to get one wolf is all about control and precision each oven comes with three racks the middle rack is a roll out this has 18 different cook and bake modes and it really is the best if you want to elevate your culinary technique get a wolf oven so getting over to this side of the kitchen it's really exciting because this is a whole nother workspace here I have a built-in custom Miele coffee maker which makes espressos cappuccinos you can make a matcha tea warm your milk or just do hot water for tea down below I have a nice drawer that gives me storage for espresso cups and utensils some serving napkins down below I have a nice warming drawer you can warm your cups before you make coffee and then up above I have great storage here for serving platters cutting boards cheese boards cookie sheets that can easily access the oven but this is a great work prep space if I am starting to do an appetizer here or if I want to make a salad or if somebody's helping me in the kitchen they have a prep sink down below for cleanup is a nice dish drawer which we can use to clean espresso cups and put them away easily without having to bring them over to the other side of the kitchen here we have more custom designed glass and mullion doors one of the fun features we haven't talked much about are the colors of this kitchen but here you can see we did a really beautiful hail Navy Accent on these doors that are inset inside of the white cabinet frame as well as the sink base on the other side of the kitchen it really ties those two areas together coming around the corner here I have a double pull out trash below the counter and another beverage refrigerator so this could also serve as a bar area this is a column refrigerator which means it's all refrigerator top to bottom inside I have great spill proof shelves storage on the door as well as three different refrigerated drawers all very nicely hidden by the custom Cabinet panels and beautiful Hardware thanks for joining us today this kitchen with a price tag of just over 250 000 has a lot of great features the custom Cabinetry three different finishes super high end modern appliances
