have you guys been obsessed with bridgerton like i have been i love that show i feel like everybody loves that show it's a great show and today i am breaking down how to get that look in your home all right let's dive in hi guys it's anja from interior design hub back again today with another interior design style video today we are going over the bridgerton style which is also known as the regency style but so much more fun to look at the show and see how could we bring touches of that into our own home so one of the things with bridgerton is that it's set in the 1800s and it's set in london in the 1800s so this is really during that regency style it's a period in the british history of that's defined by wealth and sophistication and you really do see that in the opulence and design styles of the homes and this spanned from 1811 to 1820 according to my research so one of the things with the regency style which is what we see in the bridgerton show is that it really is one of the most colorful and exciting periods of interior design from that kind of overall era and one of the key things that you see during that period is a lot of opulence so in the furniture in the detailed textiles the very striking and bold color schemes and a lot of you know some of the more architectural details that you see in this style is impressive staircases highly decorated wall treatments and really intricate metal work design basically there is a lot of craftsmanship that you do see in this style the popularity of the bridgeton show has really brought that regency style into the forefront into the mainstream and really has enticed people to have some of that opulence in their own homes and to really embrace that decadent interior design style so how do we get the look i mean that's why you're here right we want to know how do i bring this into my house well i'm going to share it with you a touch of pastel one thing you'll notice with this show is that there's a lot of pastels so one of the things with the bridgeton's home and with even their wardrobe is you will notice that there are a lot of soft pastel colors used so you see that also in the 18th century jasperware pottery which really does have that wedgewood blue it's that pale blue that you find in that in that pottery style it's their signature hue you can say so you want to take that kind of look and then mimic that in your walls your furniture your accessories so you want to then seek out some contrasting shades of pastels to really help give it depth and contrast to bring the space together so some suggestions would be to take that powder blue and then mix it with things like lavender blush pinks mint greens those will give that bridgerton effect so you want to include small decorative accents so think pillows side tables stools and mirrors which are all great additions to that regency style which we see in the bridgerton series and you want to look for little details that really hit the style such as carved details scrolled edges metallic gold finishes and other classic motifs it wouldn't be a brigitte home if we didn't have luxe materials i mean it's pretty obvious that they are over the top with their fabrics so when you think of the bridgerton home you want to think or creating the bridgerton style in your house you want to think about some opulence with your fabrics so thinking velvets and silks and then linens for your upholstery thinking about your window treatments in you know heavy thick opulent draperies but if you aren't going to buy new furniture but you still want to bring this look in then think of layering accent pieces in those type of materials and with the traditional patterns from the regency style into your accessories like your throw pillows or an upholstered stool so you can add in smaller amounts of them and still get that luxurious feeling and not break the bank so one of the big things with the bridgeton slash regency style is patterns so think damask damask is a very popular pattern from that era as well as floral motifs so you will see that in many many of the interiors on the show and that is something that if you really love that look you want to find a way to bring it into your own home they make a bold statement but you can also do you know you don't have to do all of your walls if the budget doesn't allow but you could buy a great damask you know bedding set for your bed and you can really bring in that look with accessories i personally think if you have like a separate dining room and like commit one space to doing your walls just do one space in wallpaper even if you don't do the whole home kind of keep everything else neutral but like you you have one room that's really boldly patterned that's a show stopper and i think that would look really really cool if you do love this look and you want to go with the floral or the mask or something else and that that era i think committing one room fully in it would look fantastic now drapes this is where i say if you have to limit what you're doing but you love love love this look go for drama in your drapes okay so long flowing heavy material patterned drapes are really going to bring that bridgeton style into your home and which you should do anyways but make sure it goes from the very very very tippy top all the way to the floor and then if you want to take it a step further you can even get little tassel tie backs and that's very much that style so when you're thinking about laying out your space the regency style is very much like traditional style with how you want your furniture to be laid out you gotta think symmetry and the reason why we think symmetry is because the space is really designed for entertaining so what you really want to do is mirror your seating on both sides of the space because essentially you're talking with a group of people so that's a really big thing with these traditional styles is having that symmetry in furniture because you really want to encourage the flow of conversation so one of the you know tips i have to finding furniture for your home if you're really interested on really nailing this regency style this bridgeton style in your home is to go antique hunting honestly going to an antique store and checking out what they have because you really want to try to find those traditional regency style pieces so think of pieces that have that wood detail and the tufted you know seats you i it's so crazy my mother-in-law had a beautiful pastel pink tufted ornate completely traditional style sofa that we got rid of several years ago when she downsized and now i'm just like oh we should have held on to that because honestly it was a stunning piece that fit perfectly into this look that i think would be so so popular right now i mean that's what you're going for and even with that deep dark wood i mean that's the look like that hits this look on the hip and then don't forget when it comes to bridgeton and opulence and royalty and all of those things metallics really do you know up the style so think of a beautiful gold chandelier i mean that is bridgeton or you know even candelabras like i don't know if those are super on trend right now but that is something you will see in this style so those golds those beautiful light fixtures that are over the top that will definitely make your space feel more regency slash bridgeton so one of the other things with the bridgeton style home is and i mean this is kind of that era all together is those huge paintings with these gorgeous frames like just solid solid frames and it's like a oil painting right so like a vintage inspired piece of artwork we don't all necessarily have an oil painting of her family to hang up on the wall however you could take something modern like a great family photos that you guys have taken and just have that kind of funky opulent frame whether you find a vintage frame and you spray it out gold you you know that's a great way to bring that in or even thinking of those beautiful big mirrors with the over-the-top decorative regency style frame in the metallics would look fantastic as well to bring that vintage inspired wall art to your space so some of the accessories to really take this to the next level that i suggest a golden mirror embrace the pastel color palette don't be afraid of bold wallpaper flowers and candles and then if you're really going to level it up like if you're really going to be serious about instilling this look in your home don't do a plain so for an armchair commit commit to the traditional regency style yes we were talking about bridger tin and how to achieve this look but i did do a video all about hollywood glam which is very similar to this style i think the biggest difference is the color palette in bridgeton is a little bit more of the pastels and the color palette in hollywood glam is a little bit more rich and and more of a distinctive color palette so definitely jump over to my hollywood glam video it is based on the regency style as well but i do think you'll really enjoy it if you enjoyed this video and also don't forget to hit the thumbs up button oh
