[Music] in today's Final Cut proud tutorial I'm going to show you how to easily cut Clips in your timeline including a keyboard shortcut that is going to make your life a whole lot easier let's jump into it so here we are in Final Cut Pro I've got an empty timeline down here and I've got the clip I want to drag in so I'm just going to drag that into place now there's two ways that we can do this either with the on-screen controls or with keyboard shortcuts which I prefer the keyboard shortcut spot for the sake of this video I'm going to do the on-screen controls first so up here where you see this little arrow I'm going to select that and I'm actually not going to select trim I'm going to select blade now I like to use the blade tool because it's very precise wherever I select it's going to make the cut so right here we've got this biker that comes into view right about here and I really like how the shot turned out and I want the size fun to show up a little bit after so what I'm going to do is I'm going to go back here select the clip where I want to make the cut and then I'm going to go to where the end of this clip will be which is right there and there we go we're all done so now what I'm going to do is I'm going to go back to the select tool I'm going to select the front portion in the back portion of the clip the way I did that by the way is by selecting by holding command so that I could select both and highlight both and once I do that I'm going to hit delete and there we go we've got the highlighting clip right there perfectly cut just like I wanted it to be so now I'm going to go back and add those clips back together and show you the way that I prefer to do it with a keyboard shortcut what we're going to do is we're going to highlight the part of the clip where we want to cut which is right before that sun shows up so right here and I'm going to select the clip and we want to make sure this line right here this little timeline marker is right over the exact part where you want to cut the clip because when I do the keyboard shortcut that's where it's going to apply the cut so I'm going to hit command B and there you go command B makes the cut I'm going to go to the other part where we want to end this cut so right here is where the clip will end I'm going to select over the part where I want it to end select that back portion of the clip command B and there we go now we can delete those other two parts and we have our clip so that is how we easy it is to make Cuts in Final Cut Pro if this video helped you out at all please hit the Subscribe button and notification Bell that way you're updated when I create new videos and also please give this video a thumbs up so it ranks higher in the algorithm thank you for watching [Music] foreign
