How To Create an Extended Family in The Sims 4 | Part 1 of 3

sometimes i like to play with an extended family but i don't want to take the time to build that family from scratch so i'm going to show you today how to create a an extended family which means that they a bunch of adults are related and they share the same dna but they have different households so today i'm using this random sim as a matriarch and i'm going to name her abby martin abby martin there's abby martin she's the matriarch okay and then i'm going to create her husband and i'll do the randomizer for that yeah he's a little too young okay and i don't really like that mustache so i don't like that okay that's too much no oh no okay how about a crazy grandpa okay so this we will call him um jacob martin he is the patriarch so we've got a matriarch matriarch abby and we've got a patriarch jacob okay and now let's start building children uh first of all let's establish their relationship they are married sometimes i forget to do this and then they wind up their relationship gets weird because they're not married but let's go ahead and start a new sim and we will use genetics for this and that way the sim will look like one or other of the parents or will look like a combination of the parents so jacob and abby's adult child okay my system is moving slowly today let's make it a young adult child giving them the best possible life oh i thought that kid was really cute okay so she is their daughter and you can see that she has her mom's nose and her mom's hair and well she looks very much like her mom and not that much like her dad and that's fine so she is their adult daughter and give her some traits randomize those traits good and we'll rent random randomize her aspiration she must be a mixologist and while we're at it we should randomize his traits and his aspiration as well family long legacy there we go okay and we'll randomize abby straight swell random oh she's an interesting person these people are very interesting okay there we go and so we will use the daughter let's give her name tessa tessa martin and we'll use her as a play with wait a minute we'll play with genetics this takes a while okay and we will make her not the child but the sibling of tessa and so they'll have some genetic similarities and this person will be a young adult as well i like that hair okay uh she's a sister let's make her a little well i was gonna make her more random but i think i won't i think i'll keep her like that so this is tessa's sibling also an adult and will randomize our traits and we'll give her these are some weird people okay so what is her name let's name her after that hair and call her victoria victoria martin okay and let's create another sibling and this person is sibling of victoria and also tessa of course and let's make this one a brother and i don't know why they're all they all have blonde hair the mom has blonde hair but i don't know anyway i like the looks of this guy he also looks very much like his mother so interesting okay so there we go there's the bro and his name is jake martin okay so we've got jacob the dad and jake martin is the adult son good if he's interested in archaeology let's let's go with that now i'm going to change up a little bit because i think the kids are coming out to look just like the mother and not at all like the father which happens in some families but i'm going to fool around a little more with genetics in the hopes that we get a sibling who looks like the dad okay so abby's the parent oh she's very cute i like the looks of her so she's their child she's a young adult and i like her looks so let's go with it and still she looks like the mom some strong jeans okay she's gonna be creative a creative writer there we go okay and let's create another sim [Music] we can create um [Music] oh oops oops i hit the wrong button okay and it's a boy and let's randomize this guy oh he's handsome in a baldwin brothers kind of way okay i was i was hoping somebody would have the dad's nose so i'm going to keep randomizing him [Music] too polished no not that guy no no uh no not this guy okay he looks he looks pretty average good let's go with him handsome rugged not at all a weirdo until we add on those random traits and then he will i'm sure become quite a handful no he's actually a pretty cool guy okay let's make him athletic good and he's an extreme sports enthusiast good and his name is um nope how about tony martin there we go tony martin meet tony martin and i don't know if we gave her a name yeah we sure didn't jessica jessica martin okay so there is there is victoria tessa jake jessica and tony martin and of course eight is our max so we still have room for other children so let's keep doing that oh i like the way he looks i really don't like those pants so i need to change those i know this is all random but those pants just make him look naked so good here's the other brother and we'll take him and we will name this guy zach because he looks like a zach he looks exactly like that and randomize his trait good what is this a maker okay he's a maker that's cool let's make him a creative maker dude there we go all right and that is the family one two three four five six seven eight eight people in the family there's abby and jacob and they have children tessa victoria jake jessica tony and zach there we go okay so this is the core family these are the martins and we'll take them i'm gonna upload these to the gallery okay it's winter and this house is not nearly big enough to hold all the martins but that is okay so let's start with tessa she was the one that we created first so let's move tessa out first of all split household split split from households and move where's tessa she's still outside she might be still outside she is that's a nice jacket okay so tessa is going to move to somewhere else and let's keep our wind verb because it's just going to be easier why is it okay gwenberg and we won't move her in we'll we could move her in with an existing family and just make it so the house is already available okay i like the looks of the fries i don't know anything about those people we can move them out later but let's just get her into a house of her own there we go tessa is out and the most important thing at this point in the game is that tessa is in her own own household [Music] okay now we are in tesla's household so let's get tessa inside um so now we're gonna basically kick out the existing household and move them into the um so tessa is basically putting this other family out and if you don't select a household they will go to the bin so they will be out of active game play and hopefully she never runs into them again because they may be mad that she kicked him out of their house just kidding she just bought the house so these are the martins and tessa lives here good we'll call this tessa martin and we'll edit this okay so tessa now has her own household and now she can add more people so she's gonna add a new sim who's gonna be her spouse well i like her okay so this is tessa's spouse there we go and randomizer we don't really care about the traits but boy she's got a bad bunch of them doesn't she good okay and they are going to have children and the children are going to be genetically theirs so they are going to have young children or maybe teen maybe a teen it'll be nice that is not their son no i like his hair yeah let's keep this guy okay so tessa's name is martin we're gonna change her name in a minute to um we'll call this guy shawn martin leaf there we go martin lathe is his name randomize his traits and give him location he he wants to be a sightseer okay and so now that we know their names are martin lathe we'll change tessa's name to martin lathe and we already have her traits and will change tessa's wife's name to adriana or adrian martin leave okay good so now we'll add another kid i don't like the looks of this kid i like her age i just don't like her look i don't like her look i don't like her look at all nah too boring oh i like her style okay i think this is our child good all right and this child's name is zoe martin lathe and randomize her traits what is that recycler yeah recycled discipline and she's a motor kid all right let's go let's create a twin this time so zoe has a twin and let's randomize her twin good i like her hair it is so cute okay this is zoe's twin sister and let's name her vanessa vanessa martin lathe good and let's give them a younger sibling but play with genetics again good i like him but i want a younger child now a little younger ah he's adorable okay so this is the youngest child of the martin lathe family and his name is patrick martinleith did i spell it right yeah patrick martin lake and let's randomize his skills he's inquisitive and there we go this is the martin lathe family [Music] no didn't randomize her oh what's this proper she's proper okay which i think means respectful she's proper and creative so the martin lathe family are tessa wife adrienne sunshine daughter zoe daughter vanessa and young son patrick good this is the martin lathe family we have built an extended family okay so that is the martin lathe family let's go back to the martin family and work on the next child okay who is the next sim i think victoria is the next oldest so let's get victoria to move who are these people oh the neighbors and they're gone because we disappeared the fries all right split and move from household that's what you do and we'll select another household in windberg martin leaf so victoria can move in with the bears we don't know them and they'll go away soon enough and let's go ahead and construct her family all right so the first thing we want to do is uh kick out the existing tenants and we'll put them in the bin we don't have to play them we don't have to move them to somewhere else we don't really care about them because uh i have no interest in them i didn't create them i don't know their lives we'll just leave them in the bin by not selecting another household and send them on their way goodbye we will select click on the house and then go to manage household and then go to edit household and we'll name that household later good okay so let's find a spouse for her wow i kind of like him yeah he'll do okay he's going to be her husband make sure you change the relationship there there we go and randomized his traits he's a slob okay and he's also looking for a soul mate i like this guy okay let's name him harmon they decided not to hyphenate so we'll have to change victoria's name to victoria biju good and victoria is of course the daughter of abby and jacob but she has our own family so let's start with the kids and victoria and harman can have a oh an adorable child okay she will do she's their daughter she's a toddler okay we'll start with toddlers but we'll work our way up to older clothes because we don't want a house full of toddlers okay and let's use genetics again she's cute too boy it's hard to age them up when they're this cute okay a second toddler and i have not given them names randomizer good ah she's a charmer okay let's call her the rain lorraine diju and her sister is randomizer she's angelic oh they have the perfect kids okay lorraine let's call her lyanna bijou and let's add another sim she's going this one girl or boy is going to be a little older he's so cute look at the eyes on that kid oh he's adorable okay let's age him up a little bit i'm not a fan of that hairdo okay i like him he's a little nerdy i like this kid all right here's the older brother and his name is going to be sammy biju good and let's randomize his traits bing bang boom he's lazy awesome and he is a mental kid there we go little whiz kid sami bijou and let's do another child that age oh she's cute we've seen this hairdo let's get her you know let's keep her but do a different hairdo just because this hairdo another of the cousins has this hairdo and her name is going to be denise bijou not didn't see although didn't see the issue is also okay okay denzie bijou there we go randomize she's outgoing good and she's going to be social because that works without going i do want to change her hair i don't have anything against this hairstyle i just want some variety amongst the grandchildren so i don't get them all mixed up and i think this this is cute a little short hairstyle yeah she's cute okay we approve of denzie bijou let's do another child only this time is going to be a little older a teenager because the b jews have all different age children so we'll age this one up to teen oh i like him he is perfect he is a perfect teen i'm digging the braids i like the glasses i like his little hipster nerdy hip survive yes absolutely we'll take him what will we name him um [Music] we'll name him scout bijou he's got some randomized traits okay he's clumsy which doesn't really vibe with his style but cool he's a child of the island and he wants to be rich or have business savvy whichever he wants to be wealthy okay good now let's add let's go back to harmon and play with genetics now what we're going to do is create another family from harman's family and they're going to live in the same house and this girl is a teenager first off and she's not herman's child she is harman's sibling good so herman has a sibling and i really don't like that outfit his sibling is going to be a young adult no a teenager he's going to have a teen teen sibling and it's not going to be that one just because i hate that dress no it's a little too hollywood oh she's cute i like her i like her dress this is harman's sister and of course her name is bijou as well and her first name is olivia bijou good i like her randomize her traits don't be a slob don't be a slob she's a glutton good she does have recycling in common with one of her siblings her nieces i don't know which one so she's going to be a party animal and she'll probably wind up in college soon but here we go here is the bijou family there is victoria bijou who was born a martin there's harmon bijou her husband there are their children lyanna lorraine sammy denzie and scout and there's harmon's sister olivia bijou who's a teenager there we go now we've added a layer of complexity victoria being a martin married into the bijou family and we're now starting to construct a little more advanced bijou family so what we could do because we've created olivia is we could move her out into her own household i'm not going to do that because i made her a teenager but there you have it we've made we made three families at this point and i did mean to change the name from bear to bijou there we go okay these folks are ready to move in and their house is of course right there so if i click x they will already be there look at that there are the bijous okay this is is the bijou family and this is where we will leave them and also
