hello there and welcome back to my channel in this video I'm going to show you how to create a basic worksheet in canva which is a free design program and as a teacher you can get access to all of the pro features for free by visiting canva.com education and verifying your account but whether you need a practice page a recording sheet a graphic organizer template I'm going to show you how easy it is to create one from start to finish using C so grab your device and get ready to follow [Music] along so from the canva homepage the first thing we are going to do is create a new design now canva has tons of pre-made templates that you can use as a starting point if you do want to search for a template just click up here in the search box you could type in worksheet click enter and it will pull up a ton of different templates and of course you can scroll look through them you can also filter so if you want a specific category such as education and maybe you want something for fourth grade you can then filter and see those options from here if you find one that you like you can click on it you'll be able to view the template but once you click customize this template you have your own editable copy so you can go in and make any changes as needed but for this video I'm going to show you how to start from scratch you know we're going to get creative the goal is to get from point A to point B as creatively as possible so in order to create a blank design we're going to click create a design from here you have a few different options you can create just a doc this is going to be similar to a Google doc it is best for text but once you start getting into manipulating images and trying to really customize things it's not really your best friend so personally I recommend using just a blank canvas that will allow you to get a little bit more creative so in order to do that I'm going to click on custom size I'm going to switch pixels to inches and you can create it any size that you want but typically a standard 8 1/2 by 11 or 11 by 8 1/2 would be best so I'm going to do a portrait size document so 8 1/2 by 11 in and I'm going to click create new design the next step is to add text shapes and images we're going to design the work sheet I always love to have a rectangular border around my worksheets so I'm going to insert a rectangle I'm going to actually use the keyboard shortcut which is just R but you can also go to elements and then you'll see shapes right here from here I can resize this rectangle I'm going to click on position and I can actually type in the exact width and height that I want I want it to be just a little bit smaller on each side than the size of of my file so I'm going to make the width 8.25 and the height 10.75 now I can either click and drag to recenter it or I can just click middle and center and it will automatically align it to the page obviously I don't want it to be filled with this red color so I'm going to come up here to color and switch it to no color and let's make the width we want a solid line and I like the size five okay now I want to insert in text boxes so that my students can write their name and date at the top once again I'm going to use the keyboard shortcut which is just T it will insert in a text box but you can also come over here to text and add a text box from there I'm going to have the first one be name and let's do Popin size 14 now I'm going to just zoom in a little bit so it's easier to see I'm going to click and drag to put this right up in the top corner I'm going to actually align it with the top of that border but I'm going to use the arrow keys on my keyboard to nudge it so I'm going to nudge it over two and then down two I feel like that's a nice spot I'm going to now duplicate this text box so on my keyboard I have a Mac so it's going to be command D but if you have a piece it would be contrl D you can also click the three little dots and then choose duplicate I'm going to drag this over and you'll see those little pink lines that are showing me that it's in line with the other text box I'm going to switch this to say date and now I need to insert in some lines so I'm going to actually just use the keyboard shortcut which is L but once again you can always go into elements and you'll see your lines right there I don't need it to be that thick so under line style we're going to change this to one and then I'm going to click and drag and I actually want to line it up right at the bottom of the text box like that looks pretty good so I lined it up over I'm going to nudge it to the right just one so there's a little bit of space and then I'm going to hold down shift on my keyboard as I click and drag this other dot that's just going to keep it in a nice straight line rather than it getting a little bit crooked now I can go ahead and duplicate that same line I can drag it over so it's by date and obviously I will need to shorten it so I'm going to scooch over hold down shift click and drag there we go now I'm going to add the title and if you've seen any of my products you know that I love to have a black rectangle behind my title so I'm going to actually select the border that I already created and just duplicate that so it's just a big rectangle and now I'm going to click on position this time I can keep the width the same but I want the height to only be let's go 3/4 of an inch now I can click and drag to kind of line it up that looks good but this time I want it to have a black fill now I'm going to add a text box on top of this so if you already have your specific brand kit set up on CA with your favorite fonts and sizes all of that it might be faster for you to click Text and then insert in what you want so for example heading I can click and it's already a larger size but you can also use that keyboard shortcut of the letter T I'm going to make it white because I'm putting it over top of the black and as you can see I'm just lining it up I'm going to go ahead and type in a title so let's make like a quiz because I feel like that's something that I had to make all the time because I could never find quality assessments so let's maybe call this unit six quiz and then I'm going to insert in a subheading I'm going to go ahead and put it just underneath that looks good maybe this is classifying and measuring angles okay feel like that's kind of big let's go down to like 32 one it's a little too ambitious there with the size now I can start adding in the questions for my quiz which I could add in as individual text boxes but personally I always love to do this in a table that way it kind of constrained the work that my students would show and I wasn't trying to figure out which answer went with which question if you know you know so I'm going to insert a table I'm going to go to elements and then you can actually scroll down until you get to tables and you can see all or if you search for table it will come up as well but I'm going to use this first option and once again I'm going to just click and drag so it's kind of close to the top and let's go to position for width I'm thinking like 7 and 1/2 okay we can go a little bit bigger than 7 and 1/2 let's go 7.75 let's go eight I so now I have my basic table I'm pretty good with that outline size like the thickness of the borders I don't feel the need to change that and I'm going to leave it as black okay so when it comes to formatting my table if I click each cell is already set up to be pop in size 12 so I'm going to select the entire table I'm just clicking the little four-way arrows and then I'm going to insert it to size 14 I also want to adjust the table spacing so I'm going to click the table spacing button personally I like to take the cell spacing all the way down to zero this is just a personal preference thing but when the cell spacing is too big you have all these gaps around it and it makes things much larger than it needs to be so I'd rather kind of be able to control that On My Own by adding in spaces if needed now I'm ready to start adding in my questions and depending on the questions I may not need all three columns I can kind of adjust as I go but I'll show you that so I'm thinking for the very first question I want to actually merge these cells so I'm going to click the first cell hold down shift click the last cell so that it highlights that entire row I'm going to rightclick and choose merge cells so this is where I'm going to put my first question now I want to actually align it to the left but I'm going to put a space so that it's not right up against that board order question one classify each angle below as acute right or obtuse now I just realized this is on Bold so I'm going to select the whole table and we're going to unbold okay so now I need some space underneath where I'm going to insert in my angle so I'm just going to hit enter a couple of times to generate some space I can actually use that line tool in order to create the angles so I'm going to click l to insert in a line I'm going to go ahead and click and drag it over so maybe this first one let's make it shorter cuz that's kind of long what's really nice is you can change the end points so with that line selected I can make the start of the line maybe like this dot in order to show the vertex and then the end can be this Arrow then I can duplicate it but this time I'm going to turn off the circle and just put it back to the plane that that way it's easier to line it up I'm going to kind of click and drag to generate an angle let's make this my obtuse angle so I'm going to actually shorten that first line like that click and drag this over okay now if I wanted to I can actually group these together so I can with one selected hold down shift select the other and choose group now it's like one image that I can move around and I'm going to need a little line for them to write their answer so maybe I add another space here I'm going to hit enter one more time I'm going to use this line that I already created for the date duplicate it and we're just going to put it right there kind of Center move it down okay that looks good now we're going to create our next angle we'll do an acute one I'm going to go ahead and duplicate this whole angle kind of line it up but this time I'm going to ungroup and just move that one line okay that looks good we're I'm going to put that line with it okay and then I'm going to create a right angle so I'll just select both of these drag it over and this time we're going to have this be I probably should have gone ahead and selected that line underneath and done it all at once but I didn't think that far ahead okay that'll be my right angle and there is the answer line okay first question is done now let's move on to inserting in maybe some images I don't think I want three columns I want to have just two columns so I'm going to click in this third column rightclick and choose delete column thankfully it automatically resizes which is great now I'm going to have questions 2 3 four and five in these next four cells and you know what I want all of this left aligned I had it originally as Center but I want it left okay so question two write the measure of the angle now once again I'm going to hit enter to give myself some more space Oh and I needed a space right there okay so I want to insert in a protractor so for these questions I'm going to have the angle already on like the picture of a protractor so I'm going to come to elements and we're going to search protractor I'm going to click on Graphics although there might be some good images that actually that looks pretty good although I don't want the bottom where it has the ruler so I might come to edit photo crop and then I'm just going to crop it to there click done okay I'll take it now I can resize it whatever size I need it to be I'm going to try to have it take up most of that box okay that looks decent I'm going to need another line though for them to write their answer okay so let's go ahead and put that line down here and this is where I can create the angle right on the protractor so we're going to have the first one open up from the right so let's duplicate this we're going to line up and I'm going to zoom in so I can make sure it's nice and lined up make sure it's pointing at that zero I might make this a little bit longer okay that's fine and then going to take this one zoom out and now I can align it wherever I want it to be so maybe this is going to be like a 60° angle so I'll have it like that okay and then now I can actually take this box I'm hit command a or controll a I'm going to select all of it now I'm going to do command C or contrl C and I'm going to paste it I can click in each one paste it in there so that my directions are already ready to go and let's delete this last row okay so now I can just change the number so two becomes three then four and then five and maybe I'm going to have multiple questions like this so I can go ahead and click and drag in order to select all of those elements but you'll notice it also has selected the table and the border which I don't want so I'm going to hold down shift on my keyboard click the table to unselect it and then click the border to unselect it and now it has selected just those elements I'm going to duplicate them drag it over and now I can just adjust this angle so let's make it maybe 130° and then I can repeat that on the other ones as well really quick I do want to show you so if I have have each of these I'm now holding down shift and clicking each one different ways to do the same thing but I always like to kind of include those little tips for you if I want this bottom line just to kind of flip-flop I can just take the end point hold down shift and drag it over to the other side which might be a little bit faster for you we'll put this one oh I'm going to zoom in cuz it keeps trying to align it with different things will go there and oh I got to fix that we're going to just drag it like that and then adjust the top see there's always a solution for every problem now I could then repeat that for the fifth question but just to hurry it up just a little bit I'm going to go ahead and duplicate this page to make the second page of my quiz as I showed you before I could go in and individually delete elements or I can do command a to select everything on that page and maybe I want to just keep the table and the Border I'm going to hold down shift click the table click the border now I'm going to click backspace or delete on my keyboard to get rid of the rest of them and I can take the table now and just scoot It Up by clicking and dragging or using the little arrow keys on my keyboard now of course I can just repeat this process but one thing I did want to show you maybe instead of that picture I'm going to just delete these rows um maybe I wanted to use that graphic of a protractor like this one okay maybe this one looks more like the ones my students have been using in class and so I really want to use this one but I don't love that it's blue because I don't want to print it in color so what I can do I'm just making this box larger is recolor the image so with the picture selected I can choose edit image I can come to this color mix which if you don't see it it might be down at the bottom for you I'm going to click see all and I'm going to choose glow now what that did is it kind of took off the background but you'll notice it still has this blue color that's okay we're going to click apply give it a few seconds now I can come to adjust and I can manipulate these settings to make it black so for example if I come down here to like color edit I can play with the Hue and kind of see if maybe that's better or if I take the saturation all the way down there we go now it has more of like a gray kind of color and of course you can then play with like the brightness make it a little bit darker ah that looks so good so I took that blue protractor and just by finagling the settings made it look exactly how I want now obviously I'm not finishing this quiz because you would be bored out of your mind sometimes I get so bored I just want to scream so to save time let's go ahead and move on to the next step we're going to pretend the quiz is all done ready to go we are now going to export and print this could not be any easier all you need to do is click the share button you're going to click download you're going to click the drop-down and select PDF print from here you can select certain pages if that's necessary but by default it's going to select all of your pages you can go ahead and click download it'll take a few seconds for that PDF to generate now if you go to your downloads folder you have that PDF now mine says name because I never gave it a name and it just took the first text box that was on the screen and made that the title so of course you can always rename this unit 6 quiz but from there you have that PDF and all you have to do is print it like normal most likely it will open up in Adobe Reader or preview whatever program you have on the computer but then you can just go to file print and adjust the settings as needed but it is also helpful to go ahead and rename the canva file before you export it so right up here you could have it say unit 6 quiz and that will be the title once you export it one final thing I do want to show you if you want to share this with co-workers but you want them to have their own copy so they cannot edit yours if you click on share and then template link you can then create a template link and if you share that with your co-workers they will be able to create their own editable copy so that is perfect for differentiating but also being able to collaborate with your team teachers that is it that is how you can create just a basic worksheet of any kind really in canva be sure to check out my entire Cana playlist I have videos for tutorials on creating rotation boards creating classroom Decor hacks for canva so if you enjoyed this definitely check out that playlist and get some more information while you're at it go ahead and give the video a thumbs up hit the Subscribe button and notification Bell so you do not miss any future videos as always thank you for watching I love you so much don't forget to put your positive pants on and I will catch you in the next [Music] one h
