hi in this video we're going to quickly learn how to make a radial array also known as a circular array in blender to get started i've already added a circular mesh to the center of our screen and what i want to do is go into edit mode and then i want to add a cylinder to each vertex going all the way around now i already know that there's 30 vertices so we'll need to make an array of 30 objects going around so the first thing i want to do is select any vertex over here and move the cursor to that vertex so shift s cursor to selected go into objects mode and then i want to add the mesh by doing shift a and then i'll just do a cylinder okay the next thing we need to do is move the origin to the center of the array that we're going to make so i'll select the circle press shift s and then cursor 2 selected because that's going to be the center and we can go back to the cylinder right click set origin and then origin to 3d cursor all right now we can go into the modifier tab and then add the array modifier and we'll be adding 30 of these cylinders and as you can see it's in a straight line which is not what we want so let's disable relative offset and choose object offset instead now we don't have an object to reference just yet so let's add one with the cursor still in the center i'll do shift a and i'll just add an empty object let's go with arrows all right so now let's go back to the cylinder click the eyedropper tool and select empty all right now that the reference is set up we can rotate the object and make the array one thing to know you got to make sure that you rotate the empty object and not the cylinder so if you rotate the cylinder on the z axis here you'll notice that it does make an array once you have the object offset set but one cylinder is coming off one side while the rest is going the other way and same if you go in reverse which is kind of odd which is not what i want so let's just set that back to zero and instead rotate the empty object and you can see that it all comes off of one side now so let's go ahead and make this nice and even do 360 degrees divided by 30 vertices should give us the exact position and there we go now we have 30 cylinders so now let's finalize this by going to our cylinder hovering over the modifier hold control and press a to apply it and then now we can delete the empty object and if you click on the cylinder anywhere you can now see that we have a full array of cylinders and that's pretty much it thanks for watching i hope you like this video and i will see you next time you
