How To Convert PDF to Excel (2024)

in today's video I'm going to teach you how easy it is to import data from a PDF document into Excel so you can see here we have a PDF document it's just a sample PDF with a few tables inside of it and the first thing you want to do is jump over to excel just create a brand new workbook and then from the Home tab you want to scroll to the middle and then select on data once you're in the data tab you're going to go over to the left and choose get data and then select the drop- down option of from file and then choose the third option from the top sorry third option from the bottom from PDF and this is going to import data from a PDF document into Excel the dialog box is going to pop up asking you to choose which PDF document you want to import I've got mine saved on the desktop here and I'm simply going to select on import depending on how big or how small your PDF document is this could take a couple of seconds to a minute or two uh if it is a really big PDF file what happens next is the Navigator pops up and it shows you all the tables that Excel has found on that PDF document and it's broken them down into individual tables and it tells you what page they're on as well if we look and jump back to that PDF you'll see we have sales revenue cost of sales Goods operating expenses as a heading and down the bottom we have taxes and there the four tables that Excel has found as well I'm going to select on the table I want to import which for this example will be table one and then I'm simply going to select on the option of load next load there is a drop- down menu where you could load to and choose if you had multiple sheets or multiple excels you're working with but I'm simply going to select unload to drop it into the current tab that we're working in this will take a few seconds where Excel is creating that connection to that data and you'll see within a few seconds Excel has imported that data from your PDF document the first thing it does is convert it into a table and it also now gives you the option to enhance your queries with colorful styles so I'm going to go apply or got it so I can go ahead and start editing this table straight away I'm going to quickly snap these side by side just to show you how accurate this is we have our sales revenue and then we have product one 2 3 4 and total sales down the bottom one thing you may have to do is go ahead and make a few adjustments to that data you've imported Excel has imported these as individual numbers but these on the original table were obviously dollar signs so you have to go ahead and turn those back into number formats then you've got things like percentages you might have to go through and add the percentages back to it but it is that easy to import data from a PDF document into Excel of course if you like this video let me know by giving a thumbs up and if you want to Super CH Char to raise your computer hit that subscribe Button as well thanks for watching and we see you next time bye where the trees sway there's a fox Bri G
