How To | Chunky Flat Twist For Volume | Detailed

hey guys welcome back to my channel if you guys are new here my name is Jess and in today's video I'm gonna be showing you guys my updated flat twist routine I'm gonna be doing this on dry hair this is like day four or five of my wash and go and it's been holding up pretty well especially for how humid and rainy it's been here if you guys want to see my wash and go routine I will link it up here for you guys it's pretty much the same and it holds up pretty well I usually preserve my washing over by putting my hair up in a pineapple and just wrapping it at night with a satin scarf and that really helps out a lot so I am gonna be doing my twist out on dry hair and I'm only gonna be using two products so first I'm gonna be using my kiss colors leave-in conditioner and this is what the bottle looks like I really like this leave-in it is super moisturizing and it feels good with my hair so a question that I do get a lot is what my hair type is and I believe my hair is like dressy for a that is what it looks closest to so yeah if you guys feel like your hair looks like mine then that would be the category that we're in the second product I'm gonna be using is the aunt Jackie's don't shrink sexy Joe this is my space for it I stopped using this for a little while because I ran out and I was being lazy but yeah this is my goal to Jo wash and gos twist outs flat please ponytails like the X whatever like this will be in my hair somehow I'm also gonna be using this brush this is called a mini tangle buster you can find this at Walmart or anywhere I actually got this from a company called care Co on Instagram and everything that I'll be using will be linked down below in the description box so don't worry why do you guys ask me about this brush in my last video my out I'm just going to start on one side of my head um I like to just separate the two all right well that's an appoint oh and then when I did my twist outs I actually preferred not to have any like actual lines of demarcation so I'm not going to be making any straight lines I just go down and I do that and I'm going for like fluffy curls so my twists would not be super small or anything like that now to start off what I'm gonna do is do not spray your hair too much because you're just going to revert your hair back even more and it's gonna shrink even more so I literally just give it a spray that's it and then I rub it in and that's it so now I'm gonna add my leave-in and then I'm gonna add my flag see Joe I'm gonna flat twist it I like to do flat twists just to preserve my hair even longer because washday takes forever okay it takes forever and it's tiring and annoying but you got to do it so now I'm just gonna take my mini tangle buster and I'm going to come up my ends just drag it down just detangle it and make sure to be super super gentle with your hair we are detangling it especially especially when it's dry because that will cause so much breakage and I have color treated hair obviously so I try to be as gentle as possible with my hair I also have naturally fine hair that is just how my hair grows can't do anything about it so to start off my flat twists I just take a little part split it in two then I start to twist and it's literally just like a braid except you're just taking too um if you need to take some more leave in and just slide it down and I like to drag my fingers down each time just to smooth out my ends that way it comes out really really defined so yeah I'm gonna take the little comb on my edged brush and I'm just gonna comb out the rest of this okay not for the ends I'm gonna add a little bit of leave-in and I'm just going to twist it around my finger damn I'm having on my nose one is so long I've actually been loving not having my nose done now okay and so now I'm gonna also take a little bit of the flaxseed gel and I'm just going to twist it around the end of this okay so I'm gonna continue doing the twist and just speed it up for you guys that's pretty much all that I do and I just go around my whole head doing the same exact thing so we pull apart of the hair I'm gonna think about this much gonna spray it one time that's some conditioner calm it out a little honestly I kind of want to wear my hair in a big fro I feel like a big pink fro would be so cute but um I don't know where I would be going all right so I'm just gonna add the flexi Joe now I'm gonna take a little piece split it in two and start twisting take a little bit more believe in down I'm gonna take the little comb again [Music] and some flexi twist it around my finger and boom usually when I'm twisting my hair I either watch TV watch YouTube I don't really watch TV like there's something I'm gonna lie I'd like a couple of shows that I watch and that's about it also coming down some good shows to get into because I need some new shows to watch like I feel like I'm stuck on the same to like shows and I kind of want to brought in my range or whatever you know I mean so yeah comment down some good shows that you guys have been watching so I'm going to actually play some music I wish I could play my music for you guys because you guys think to really beat into the music that I'm into so like we're here but I'll get copyrighted so I can't really play my music for you guys but I'm gonna go ahead play some music and I'm gonna twist my hair and let you guys see what I do and then I'll come back [Music] [Music] they're looking real juicy and so now I'm gonna go ahead and go in with this side and um yes so so far it's been about 30 minutes so this is gonna take about an hour and the longer your hair is the more time it's gonna take but I promise is worth it you would literally get like four or five more days out of your hair in the back I did size them up just a little bit bigger just a little bit just because I feel like I like my curls more defined in the front and more fluffy in the back so I am going to try to twist this side going in the same direction as these so you see how I flat twisted this towards the front not like away from my face and you can do it however you want I'm just telling you guys how I do it and so I want the curls to kind of look the same don't get me wrong you can twist the sides opposite if it's kind of hard for you and you won't really be able to tell the difference I'm just being I'm just being nitpicky about it [Music] [Music] okay so now I have this one piece left in the back and y'all the shrinkage is real a mile even so I'm not sure how long I'm going to have to leave these in but I'm not going to be leaving these in all night because I am going somewhere I'm probably gonna leave these in for about an hour too and I'm just leaving it in long enough for the cream to dry and for the twist to like tighten up and harden a little bit not really hard and it's not gonna get crunchy because the flaxseed oh isn't that isn't like the eco styler gel so it doesn't get super super crunchy I'm just gonna leave it in long enough for it to dry and you guys will see what I mean because if we were doing this on wet hair then you would have to leave in all night and wait for it to get dry and actually get the curls like defined but since we are doing it on dry hair we don't need to leave it in as long but at the same time you guys know your hair so if you need to leave it in longer leave it in longer you don't have to take it out after one or two hours if you're not going anywhere I do suggest you leave it in longer but I'm just letting you guys know that I'm not leaving it in longer so yeah so me and babe are going on a little date or whatever so I just want to be cute but you guys know your hair so if you need to leave it in overnight leave it in overnight I'm sure it'll come out ten times better anyway so I'm going to use my edge brush and this eco styler gel this is the argan oil one so I'm gonna go ahead and leave my little baby edges and then I'm just gonna use a scarf just to tie everything down and let it get dry and I'll be back alright guys so it is two and a half hours later in my Swiss are dry I'm gonna be using this hundred percent pure shea oil from Shea Moisture and I'm just gonna spray some of this it's almost finished so I'm just gonna be squirting some of that on my fingertips and rubbing it on my ends a little bit on my scalp and then the way I take my twist out is super easy I just split the two twists with the two strands and unravel them [Music] [Music] separate them I'm going to separate the curls a bit more just so it's like really big and really fluffy and then I'm gonna pick it up so yeah I've already kind of left this part up and separated them I just need this side to be a little more fluffy fluffy okay so now you take my pick [Music] [Music] so after I finished picking it out this is what it looks like really big really chunky curls and I really really love this so now once this starts getting super super frizzy and out-of-control I'm just gonna put it in a ponytail and you know leave it in a ponytail until I'm ready to wash it but yeah so this is what my flat my chunky flat twist came out looking like
