it is a dream destination and definitely a  must visit Maldives have so many resorts and   Private Island resorts and it might be a little  difficult to choose which one is right for you   well we created this video with lots of different  points to consider while choosing your perfect   Island Resort so watch this video hopefully it  will help you choose the perfect Resort for you   we have been here in the Maldives for a month  and we have reviewed a couple of resorts locks   and Sentara Grand where we are right now and  we will leave the links to those resorts in   the description below of course Maldives has  over a hundred Island resorts and lots of how   houses on the local Island I mean guest houses  and little boutique hotels as well but there   are some general things that you need to  know when choosing Resorts specifically   because it's not the cheapest experience and  we also have created a video for Maldives on   the budget because Maldives absolutely can be  affordable 100 if you're new to our Channel   my name is Devon and I am Irina and we're  just be out we create informative travel   videos to help you get the most out of your  vacation just be out with us foreign [Music]   there are over a hundred private Resort islands  in the Maldives and we understand it might be   daunting to try to figure out which Resort is  right for you you really need to do your research   and figure out which Resort you want to book and  some of them are built on natural Islands some   of them are all artificial islands and they're com  they're popping up every year they're building out   more and more Resorts so by the time you choose  to probably come to the Maldives there might be   a couple thousands of islands who knows if you're  trying to figure out which island is best for you   well it all depends on what you want to do when  you get here at the Maldives if you're a diver   and you're adventurous maybe you want to swim  with tiger sharks well you need to go south South   South Maldives all the way to the all the way down  that's an hour and a half of local plane that will   take you from the international airport all the  way to the very bottom of the Maldives yeah and if   you want to do whale sharks well come to kind of  where we're at exactly we're also to the South but   a little higher up and that's where all the whale  sharks are so if that's what you're coming for you   need to be in this area this way you don't have  to take a lot of time getting from the island you   chose to get here or even having to take a plane  because you booked a resort that lives way too far   so these are things to keep in mind and also you  can go to Google Maps and open satellite images   and see just how many resorts are all around if  you don't have much time for transfers you can   book a resort right near Mali there are Resorts  that just 10 15 minutes speed boat ride from the   international airports there are Resorts that  actually offer free boat ride free transfers or   some resorts force you to book their own seaplane  train transfer but just stay with us and we'll   tell you what Resorts don't want you to know when  traveling anywhere in the world you don't really   consider spending a thousand or two thousand  dollars per person for an additional transfer once   you get to the country to get to your Resort yes  here in the Maldives it's a little bit different   you have to take into consideration once you fly  here in Mali which is where the international   airport is and which is where you're going to be  flying in then you have to take another flight   to get to the destination your final destination  which is your Resort or maybe a speed boat but yes   the resorts are actually private islands and the  Maldives are comprised of many different islands   and atolls so it's not like anywhere else in the  world where it's just a land and you can get a   taxi to get to your Resort you actually need  to book a more significant way of transporting   either a plane or a speed boat or sometimes as a  plane and a speedboat the Maldives is a popular   destination for weddings and honeymoons so here's  a tip for you when booking your Resort so if you   are getting married or coming on the honeymoon or  combining both like we're doing getting married   and celebrating our honeymoon as well here is JBL  Pro tip for you reach out to your Resort and see   what kind of special packages they are offering  for us they offered a complimentary honeymoon   package which is for all their guests who were  married within 12 months so upon arriving you   will have to present your marriage certificate  because getting married in Maldives is actually   just a ceremony and you have to be legally married  and if you were married within 12 months this will   be a complimentary package for you and it includes  a bottle of champagne fruit platter as you can see   cake and bedspread they lay out beautiful flowers  and decorate your bed and also it includes a 30   minute photo shoot with a printed photo here at  Lux you also get a 30 minutes couples massage   and it is all free with a presentation of your  marriage certificate different Resort do offer   different packages this kind of package might  be with an additional charge but nevertheless   be sure to contact the resort and ask what type  of special packages they offer if you come into   the Maldives for the very first time there are a  few things to consider while choosing your over   water Villa or an over water Bungalow well first  of all not all over water Villas come with a pool   so while booking if a private pool is important to  you be sure to choose that room type and also over   water Villas are situated differently on all the  resorts some have Sunrise views some have Sunset   View we are staying in a romantic over water  Villa here at Lux South ariato we chose the Villa   with the pool and this is a Sunrise Villa so the  difference between the apparent sunrise or Sunset   is the amount of sun that your private deck gets  if you're the type of person who likes to lay down   and suntan on your own private deck in privacy  you probably want to choose a villa with a sunrise   this type of villa gets the most Sun during the  day well at least in this Resort and the sunset   Villa stays in shade for most of the day so if  you would like to just relax on your deck and   maybe read a book that would be a perfect option  for you however be sure to contact your Resort and   inquire specifically about the amount of sun  you get during the day for the type of villa   you are interested in but sunsets in the Maldives  are absolutely Epic they are even better than in   Hawaii and if you've been following us we lived in  Hawaii for three years and yes being here for just   about a week definitely maldivian sunsets are way  better than Hawaii and so you might want to get a   villa with a Sunset View and have a champagne  toast while looking at Sunset but if you don't   choose the sunset room you can just walk anywhere  on the property of your Resort maybe stay in a bar   and enjoy that Sunset when choosing a resort in  the Maldives another thing you need to consider   is what you're really interested in as far as  marine life goes we chose luck specifically for   clear waters every overwater Villa has an entrance  or staircase that leads you directly into water   so far for us it was important to walk out from  our overwater Villa into the water like I'm doing   right now and enter absolutely clear waters but  if you're more interested in marine life choose a   resort that has more corals around the resort and  near your over water Villa this way more corals   attract more fishes not to say that there are  not a lot of fishes here but they're the fishes   here are more clear we did see a puffer fish right  under the Villa next to us we saw a lot of black   tip baby sharks here Eagle race but they are very  random so it really depends what you would like to   see another awesome feature of Lux South Africa  is that they are known for whale sharks and we   are heading for a whale sharks Excursion in just  a couple of days so do your research and let us   know in the comments what are you interested in  overwater Villas are definitely worth it and must   experience but let's talk about privacy just for  a moment we feel really private there are walls on   both sides of Our Deck and in an obstructed Ocean  View but if you decide to maybe 10 topless or nude   or if you would like to do any extra curriculum  activity just keep in mind even though yes it   is private but you do have an entrance to the  ocean and each Villa does and there are some   people who will swim by you Villa for snorkeling  or just having fun so most of the time you do   have a complete privacy but just keep in mind at  some point there might be your neighbors who are   women and enjoying the Indian Ocean when it comes  to your seaplane transfer there are actually three   companies that will shuttle you to different types  of resorts now different Resorts have different   arrangements with specific Airlines our Resort  loves South ariato only works with Trans maldivian   Air there is also Mountaineer and maldivian here  and your Resort will let you know which one you   will be flying on keep in mind when you book your  Resort you are not actually booking the transfer   yourself the resort books the transfer for you  but when you book your hotel room you act it is   actually mandatory to purchase the transfer so  you can't really get to the resort by yourself   they force you to go through their transfer  arrangements and the transfer arrangements   are really quirky it you've been to the Maldives  let us know if you had a Flight confirmation in   advance in our experience we had our transfer  confirmation at 9 00 PM the night before we   depart from Mali International Airport and that's  a little bit stressful because you're going to bed   well we flew in three days before you're going  to bed early and you still don't know what time   you're flying either 6 a.m or 2PM so you need to  kind of know what time you at least you will be   waking up so our Resort told us that the airline  company always gives them confirmation at 9   00 PM if you had a different experience please  let us know in the comments below now when it   comes to your luggage the these type of small  seaplanes only allow you one check-in luggage   which is only 20 kilos which is 44 pounds not like  your regular a 50 pound airlines that allow you to   take your check-in and your hand back is only five  kilos which is only 11 pounds well you might think   what do I do with the rest of my stuff don't  worry they do charge you five US dollars for   any additional kilos so what we did with the one  we actually separated our luggage and put away   whatever we are not taking for our five night stay  at the resort and we left our bags in the storage   in our hotel because when we get back we will be  actually going back to the same hotel for another   night there is one more thing that you need to  know about seaplane transfer they operate strictly   from 6 a.m to 4 pm so if you arrive later you will  not be able to get the transfer to your Resort   and you will have to stay a night here on Mali or  Hulu Mali but from our experience being here for   three nights that's not a problem you can find  really good rates for the night and also if you   want to extend for a couple of nights we created a  few Vlogs With amazing things to do we will leave   them in the description below also you're not  really allowed to pick your time for your sea   transfer so they will just pick the time for  you either early in the morning or late in the   afternoon and that does not necessarily correlate  with your arrival you would think right okay I'm   arriving early in the morning I just would like  to hop on the earliest transfer no sometimes they   might book you for a later transfer so what do  you do again check your luggage in the storage   and you can go explore Mali for a few hours  and come back some resorts do offer lounges   but they do have limit for up to two hours where  you can stay in the lounge if you would like a   specific transfer either an early transfer or  later transfer you can request with a hotel it   is not guaranteed we actually wrote them several  emails to ask them for an earlier transfer because   we're here in Mali already and we want to start  our day in Lux early and luckily they were able to   accommodate us so you can request it but again it  is not guaranteed some people make their Maldives   trip a joint trip with another trip so for example  we met a couple who were in Japan and it is right   now winter in Japan so they had one luggage with  winter clothes and one with summer clothes so in   instead of carrying your winter clothes to your  Luxury Resorts and pay overage for your luggage   allowance just come here to the luggage storage  room right at the airport they do allow you to   leave your bag overnight for only seven dollars  a day and you do not have to pay the overage fee   when you check in for your seaplane transfer an  additional thing to know about seaplane transfers   is that they are not always on time when we were  booked we were told that our flag is at seven 6   45 they checked us in and at seven o'clock it was  supposed to leave but when we got to the lounge   they told us they are waiting for more people and  it is 7 15 now and we're still hanging out at the   lounge when you fly to your Resort a straight  flight might be only 20 minutes but a seaplane   might make another stop at another Resort and your  flight might be instead of 20 minutes 35 minutes   you never know with the seaplanes we are now at  the East Market at Lux South Ari atoll having   breakfast did you know that some resorts in the  Maldives actually have an all-inclusive option   which we actually chose for hours stay here at Lux  well let's talk about while we're having breakfast   let's talk about all different options food  packages that all maldivian resorts categorize   by number one is the cheapest option that you  can purchase it's just your bed and breakfast   it includes your room with breakfast only next one  is half board it includes your room breakfast and   dinner option next is full board it includes  breakfast lunch and dinner and some resorts   again offer all-inclusive options which includes  all the food plus alcohol well look at the price   difference if you're not really a big drinker  all-inclusive option might not be a good choice   for you you could go for either half board or full  board and purchase alcohol as you go if needed for   some resorts prices vary significantly from even  full board to all-inclusive as far as even 300   dollars per night here at Lux the price difference  was not significant it was only a hundred dollars   so we decided to go with all-inclusive but here is  a jbo pro tip you can actually contact your Resort   that you're planning to go to and request menus  from different restaurants that you offer and if   you feel like maybe sometimes you don't eat as  much for full board you might book the bed and   breakfast option and just go out for dinner and  purchase a la carte whatever items that you choose   now let's talk about food prices here in the  Maldives all you hear is everybody is talking   about thirty dollars Burgers oh my God food  in the Maldives is so expensive as a burger   is thirty dollars well that prices you will  find mostly in the Island resorts when you go   to local Islands you can get a meal for eight  to ten dollars and when you are in the resorts   it will also depends on the resort that you are  staying at we are here at loxao Dary atoll and   the food prices we find very reasonable for  example well we have an all-inclusive option   but I would like to share with you prices for what  you can expect a breakfast buffet here is 75 per   person plus plus but all the rooms actually  include breakfast that would be the minimal   charge but if you get the cheapest room with  just request included they do have a la carte   options that are very affordable so for example  here at beach Rouge Catch of the Day which I had   an amazing tuna steak which comes with sides of  vegetables is only 29 of course plus plus and it   is US Dollars grilled octopus 27 signature mixed  drinks at 17 yellow fin tuna tartar twenty dollars   truffle and Parmesan chips which are friends  french fries twelve dollars truffle flatbread   24 seafood Pizza 35 and if you are interested in a  wagu steak it is only eighty dollars for 220 grams   and this is an A La Carte menu just for this  restaurant yes there is another Lagoon bar and   the burgers there are thirty dollars but they are  excellent they're Gourmet and we went to a seafood   and lobster buffet with unlimited lobsters fresh  cut Seafood it was only full price a hundred and   thirty dollars per person plus plus but because  we have an all-inclusive option we paid only sixty   dollars up charge per person so it really depends  on the resort when you choose your Resort you can   always email them and ask for menus from all their  restaurants so this this way you'll get to see if   the food prices is Affordable enough for you A La  Carte or you would prefer a meal plan and the plus   plus definition is the first class is the tax and  the second plus is the minimum mandatory service   charge which is 10 and this is everywhere  in the Maldives even on the local Islands wow you see those baby sharks they are all over  the resort this is one thing that you need to know   when you come to the Maldives those black tip baby  sharks come right to the shore when you swim in it   is impossible to avoid them they actually afraid  of you so when you get in the water they actually   swim away from you so they there was never an  incident that a baby shark would bite a guest   or anything like that so when you come to the  Maldives just know that yes there are sharks all   over the water right at the shores of the resorts  but they are not aggressive at all now the size of   the resort that you choose matters yes and here in  the Maldives Resorts come in all shapes and sizes   and we have stayed on a larger resort with long  stretch of Beach and we've stayed on kind of a   more circular smaller Island so it really it is up  to you preferences if you like longer walks on the   beach and more options as far as the dining goes  then you might want to choose a larger Resort but   we actually enjoyed both and the larger Resort or  a smaller Resort does not really mean more crowded   it's we stayed on boat and both were pretty much  at capacity but we hardly saw any people yes and   I don't know if these islands are designed that  way or it just so happens to be that way but it   is a great feeling knowing that there's so many  people on the island but you can hardly see people   as you're walking around it doesn't feel crowded  whatsoever and the larger resolders keep in mind   it will take you longer to reach from one point  to the next you might want to rent bicycles and   smaller Resorts of course to get to one point to  the next might take you just five to ten minutes   when coming to the Maldives let's talk drones now  we all want to get the perfect shot of the island   or the resort that we are staying on but there are  few important things you need to keep in mind when   flying a drone in the Maldives well first of all  when coming to Maldives bringing your drone is not   a problem getting to the resort with your drone no  problem you don't have to worry about confiscation   or anything like that but you do have to be  a responsible drone pilot and with that being   said a few important things number one when you're  flying the Drone has a regulation height that you   typically should stay at and you need to kind  of stay within those boundaries because that's   just drone 101 so something super important to  remember when you're on an island or on a private   Resort seaplanes land frequently all the time and  they come from every direction that you're not   even aware of now keep in mind seaplanes are  not like regular planes that fly you know 10   and fifteen twenty thirty thousand feet in the air  seaplanes fly way lower and drones fly within that   ceiling in the air as well so please keep in  mind when you're flying don't exceed the the   flight regulations on your drone and also it'd be  good if you had a spotter or you keep Lookouts for   airplanes see where their land where they take off  before flying your drone and I know sometimes you   want to get a shot of the plane landing don't do  that don't be that person because what's going to   happen is that eventually it's going to take one  accident to happen a drone hitting an aircraft   or something and they're just going to band it  to begin with so we don't want that to happen   so please be responsible when you're flying on a  local Island normally it's never a problem we've   stayed at three different Resorts while here on  the Maldives and every single Resort we stayed   at I made sure that when we got there I went to  security and I asked them what are your drone   policies is it okay to fly my drone not 10 out of  10 they said normally they do not but because what   happened is someone flew their drone over and over  water Bungalow and they were looking into people's   Bungalows and that's the invasion of privacy so  again don't be that type of drone pilot don't spy   on people it's okay to get an aerial shot of the  island or something like that but don't hover over   people's windows and and and um balconies now what  we had to do as you can see we had aerial shots in   our videos we had to get permission from security  and sometimes I would have to fill out a waiver   or security would be with me while I'm actually  recording and then I would have to either if   they're not with me I would have to go back to  the security office and show them the footage   make sure I wasn't flying over any water uh  Bungalows which is the biggest thing for them   is the privacy of their clients and basically  that's it you can fly a drone with no problems at   all just make sure if you're at a resort check  with security first before flying your drone   otherwise either the Drone can be confiscated  or the footage might be deleted some resorts   in the Maldives are adults only but they do accept  children from 12 years old and up and some resorts   are truly family oriented so choose carefully  when it comes to your perfect maldivian resorts   and now is the moment you've all been waiting  for what private islands Resorts do not want   you to know well it's all about the transfers  and right now we are at santara Grand Island   Resort and to get here when you book this Resort  they on the website it would say that you have to   book a mandatory sea plane transfer and it is  460 dollars per person round trip and even if   you reach out to the resorts uh over the email  they will tell you that you have to book the   seaplane transfer and they will not talk about  other ways of transportation to the island well   if you want to save and you have a little bit more  time you can actually get here specifically to   any Island resorts at South Ari atoll by taking a  public speed boat from Mali which takes just under   two hours you can arrive to digra or any other  islands and then take a private speed boat here   to the island just to give you approximate rates  the speedboat will cost you one way 55 from Mali   airport to one of the local Islands over here and  a private speed boat is 65 dollars per speed boat   one way so if you have four passengers or two  passengers doesn't matter it will be 65 and we   will leave our reliable source of transfer halim  we will leave his personal WhatsApp number in the   description below thank you so you can actually  reach out to him but he is only offers transfers   here at South Ari atoll of course depending on the  resorts all the resorts at different some resorts   you might have to fly only and the price for the  sea plan also really depends on the resort the   more expensive Resort is the more expensive your  transfer will be for example some other Resorts a   one a round trip seaplane per person could be up  to nine hundred dollars so it depends this one is   still quite affordable and yes a seaplane transfer  is an experience on its own and it is fantastic so   if you can we highly recommend you to experience  it but if you are on a budget and if you want to   save you can find out other ways to get to the  resort so how do you know where you can actually   go to the local Islands so what you can do is you  can open Google Maps the satellite view and zoom   in and zoom in on the map and see what are the  local islands around and find out if the public   speed boat Ferry goes to that Island next what  you can do is again you can zoom in on the island   find either airbnbs or hotels and shop around  for your private speed boat because the rates   very tremendously for example a speedboat transfer  from digora to here to santara is only 10 minutes   but Centerra charges 400 dollars one way for a  private speed boat transfer we found the transfer   rate was 65 dollars one weight and there was  everything in between that was a 85 110 100 and   thirty dollars so you can see all the raids vary  tremendously so shop around and if you really want   to say you just need to put a little bit of more  time and research and another great way is reach   out to their tourism board we hope this video has  given you a little bit of insight when trying to   book your perfect Resort here in the Maldives and  things to consider before booking your Resort here   in the Maldives because we all know it's not the  cheapest vacation when coming to a private Island   Resort if you found value in this video don't  forget to click like we thank all our members   for supporting our Channel and
