How to Check In to Your Celebrity Cruise

greetings everyone this is Danny from hardtravel.com your Celebrity Cruise Experts of today I want to take a little bit of time to dig into the check-in process for your Celebrity Cruise it's an incredibly critical part of the entire experience now keep in mind at this point your hard travel advisor has already helped you select the perfect room the perfect Suite the perfect ship the perfect itinerary and now you've paid in full and you're getting ready to prepare to head on board the cruise checking in as early as you can is really really critical after final payment you're gonna find that a few days later generally it's going to open up and tell you when you're going to be able to check in once that is actually available you're going to want to check in right away so I recommend checking back a few times to make sure that you check in as soon as you possibly can now keep in mind you can check in on a PC or a Mac now you're going to want to do that with something with a camera but personally I always prefer to do it with a tablet or a phone and I think the phone is the most I deal method because you're going to use the app not only to check in for your cruise but you're going to use it to board using your set sail pass and then as you continue along from there you're also going to use it on board the ship depending on the Celebrity ship you're going to access you may even be able to use it as a room key to control your TV or even to control the blinds and the Rumor Suite itself there's lots of ways you're going to use that app before during and even after your cruise now as you prepare to check in you're going to want to make sure that you have everything with you that you need to complete the check-in process the first one is going to be the identification that you're using to travel now we always recommend traveling with a passport book with at least six months validity remaining from the return of your trip now in some cases with a closed loop Cruise you can travel with the state issued ID and a birth certificate there's even some other means to utilize military ID and a birth certificate but you're going to want to check that out on the Celebrity Cruises website and you can also check out the US State Department Department with the Western Hemisphere travel initiative those are where you're going to find the exact needs for the ID that you'll need for your cruise itself but you're going to want to have the identification for everybody traveling in your party and you're also going to want to have the other members of your party with you because you're going to be able to scan the identification take a security photo of them and when you finish it up you're completely done and you can head right on board the ship now if you already have an account with Celebrity Cruises you're going to use your username and password to log into the app just like you would to log into the cruise Planner on the Celebrity Cruises website if you haven't set one up yet you can do it either through the app or on the computer itself and then that's going to stick with you with every Celebrity Cruise that you take from there on out now if you already have one and of course you've provided your Captain's Club number and it's in the reservation you should see that the reservation's already in there if it's not all you have to do is click on the button where you're going to link it together you add in the last name date of birth and Reserve number and that's going to allow you to pull up your cruise now once you've pulled up the cruise now you can start that check-in process now once you've selected the cruise you're going to select the little person in the top right of the app now from there you're going to see a black button it's about two-thirds of the way down and it says start check-in all you got to do is click Start check-in once again you want to have all your check-in materials with you and you can start what is really a very seamless and simple process now the very first thing that you're going to see is that you have travel information arrival time and health status we're going to start by clicking on the travel information and then we're going to repeat that for each and every single Traveler now once I click on that the first thing it's going to allow me to do is it's going to allow me to scan the identification that I'm using to travel now in this case I'm traveling with a passport because that's what I always do I find that it's by far the easiest way to travel and then if there were an issue down the line it's going to be really easy to get back home now keep in mind you can click on that button as a drop down where you have options to put in a passport card an enhanced driver's license there's other ways that you can travel but keep in mind we're always going to recommend a passport book whatever it is that you select all you have to do is Select that and then click the scan button now if you've checked in previously with celebrity you've already authorized the camera but if not you're going to have to Grant access to the camera so you can scan in your documentation now as I mentioned in this case I'm using my passport so I'm going to open up the passport all I have to do is put it in front of the camera here what it's going to do is it's going to read the information on the bottom of the passport once it reads that information it's going to load it in there and the process is completely done now keep in mind you can type that information in as well this is just a much quicker way to do it now the next step after you scan in your passport or your travel ID is to take a photo now this photo is going to use for facial recognition for boarding and then you can also utilize it while on board I'm going to click the take photo button it's going to open up the screen I always give a nice little smile that way the person who's checking you in and out of the ship each time maybe even can get a little bit of a laugh if you've got a face like this one but you'll have the opportunity once you do that to select using this for boarding and or photography I grant permission to both personally you can read the terms and conditions and decide but if you authorize photography as well what that means is they're going to offer photos throughout the trip where they can take your photo getting on and off the ship maybe in one of the venues taking part of one of the activities Always by your choice but that's going to use facial recognition so when you go to purchase photos it's going to have all of them in one place for you now the next step is it's going to put in your country of residence and Country of birth after that you're going to be able to put in your Captain's Club number if it wasn't input in the reservation already keep in mind this is your loyalty status you're going to want to always have that in your reservation so you can continue to build status throughout the times that you cruise with celebrity after that it's going to ask you for your home address after you input your home address the next step is to ask you for an emergency contact now this does need to be somebody who's not traveling with you this way in case there were an emergency Royal Caribbean or celebrity would have the ability to contact that person on your behalf now the next step is to link a credit card with your online account now it's going to be mostly cashless on board the ship with the casino being the exception to that and also tipping we always recommend tipping and I always bring extra cash personally I really enjoy it and it's wonderful to see the staff so incredibly happy as well now you're going to add your credit card if you've already done it previously you should see one to choose from but all you have to do is Select it and you can also add access to that for all the other Travelers in your reservation now finally you're going to need to read and agree to the terms and condition and then you click continue and that's going to complete the travel information part of your check-in once you've completed that the next spot is to check your arrival time and pick the one that's perfect for you this is one of the main reasons why you want to check in as early as possible now when I click on it what I'm seeing is there's only later afternoon times available personally that's completely fine for me I'm staying in a penthouse on this particular Suite which means I'm going to have expedited boarding and of course the retreat host is going to take care of all those details but my recommendation is to check in the moment it becomes available that's going to allow you to pick the exact time when you want to arrive head on board and start enjoying your cruise now you'll see that the final step is actually the health questionnaire this is going to open up 24 hours before your cruise you're going to want to click on that the day before or the morning of your cruise you're going to fill it out it's going to ask you some basic health questions and then that's going to finalize the check-in process now keep in mind I can click right now and access my express pass that is your actual boarding pass so my recommendation is that you do click on it you can add it to either your Apple or Google Wallet I always take a screenshot of it as well that way if for whatever reason my phone's acting up I don't have internet or phone service in the terminal I can just pull up that photo use it because I'm going to use that to check in and then of course you're going to use it throughout your cruise now you're going to continue to scroll down and you're going to check in each and every single guest in your reservation that's why I recommend having them close by you can take that quick security photo there scan in their data and then of course proceed right on to head to your cruise now one thing I did want to mention is if you're traveling with more than just the passengers in your room or Suite itself as you get to the bottom you can click add guests and if you're basically traveling with those guests maybe you have additional kiddos in a second in invoice or maybe they're in a separate room that's adjoining to you you can add the guests on and you can check in for everyone in your party now keep in mind that we definitely recommend that you purchase your cruise planner items much earlier on in the process the check-in is something that you're going to do just after final payment generally in the 45 to 90 day range and once again after you make final payment usually a couple days later it's going to show you what the check-in date will be for your cruise now keep in mind your hard travel
